So here is a list of bands I like, and these are bands are pretty much side with a lot, I tend to like 1-2 songs from some other bands...and thats about it, they rarely click. I am more of American Rock/Metal fan (very specific metal too, no clue what its called music isn't a huge FORTE of mine) and don't really like country/trance/rap/WHATEVER THE FUCK ELSE
so yeah:
kiss
ac/dc
alice cooper
kamelot
sabaton
van halen
Iron Maiden
Johnny Cash
Rolling Stones
Blue Oyster Cult
theres more but I can't really name them all, but I think you get the gist of it.
I find myself liking videogame/foreign (I love Basshunter/Vitas, and I don't even speak those languages at all) music more than anything I hear on the radio thats new, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places.
-
If you like foreign check out X Japan.

Jesus christ why do these guys have a 29 minute long song
-
1) god how much do I hate these yopics
2) nowadays 29 minute longs song is no big deal
-
2) nowadays 29 minute longs song is no big deal
Yes it is.
-
Why? I have a bunch of music groups who's average songs are like over 10 minutes long. Long songs can be EPIC!
-
the longer the better
<edit> right on topic: if you like johnny cash, check out Murder By Death. They are very cool.
-
Yes it is.
It's not normal song length, but it's no big deal either.
</useless argument>

I'll second the recommendation for X Japan. Also, Dark Tranquillity, Iced Earth and Devin Townsend.
-
Stratovarius
-
You seem to like some "classic" 80-90's metal/rock (that's my favourite stuff too)
Maybe..
-Skid Row
-Helloween (the origin of power metal since you have Kamelot on your list..)
-Stratovarius (next step of power metal)
-Loudness (with Mike Vescera - also the best guitarist to ever exist, Akira Takasaki, here)
-X Japan (It's ~38 minutes in Live :))
-Hanoi Rocks
Actually only Skid Row is American, but others are mostly with english vocals so no worries.

Alright thanks for the suggestions so far and I'll check these guys out and maybe tell you if I like them or not
i need something more than what I got, cause while 70s/80s/very early 90s are A++, I also feel like its starting to get boring just listening to it all the time

yo I'm going to do you a favor and tell you half the shit recommended here is not at all what you are looking for.
try out www.pandora.com or listen to last.fm radio. GW seems to be obsessed with turning you towards their tastes as opposed to adding to your preexisting genre. I kind of wish Kaworu was here because he was the expert on this but if you ever want to feel like you gotta crush a baby, listen to some Slayer.

Why not try something a bit different?
Bauhaus are pretty cool and heavy-ish, or perhaps Nick Cave.
If you want I can megaupload a Nick Cave compilation.

i dont want different i want in my genre

Listen to Dethklok, all that "virtual band" might be silly but musically it's OK, rather generic but OK

What genre does both Johnny Cash and KISS belong too? Just take a listen.
You can try http://hypem.com and search for artists so you can hear like one song of each.
-
i see what you mean steel

well dude there is a certain aesthetic where he's clearly fitting! unfortunately he listed all the stereotypes outside of Slayer that I know of. maybe Scorpions as well. idk use Pandora man. there's a LOT of music that sounds exactly what you're looking for.
basically guys everyone do this first or create a large recommendation topic maybe because list topics are really boring and absolutely worthless when you don't know what he wants.
-
oh right, i forgot to mention Scorpions
scorpions are rad
i love boston too
yeah ive been using pandora and actually found a couple of older bands I hadn't heard of before that fit perfect
