Title: [tell] Fall and Winter Anime seasons 2007
Post by: Ghost_Aspergers on January 02, 2008, 09:08:19 pm
I was looking over the lists... and nothing looked promising at all. So before I ignore the second half of 07 completely... do you guys have any suggestions?

Why not post the whole list and then some of us can take the time to review them as we watch them? You or I can edit the reviews into the original post so that people can get a quick reference for this season's anime.

The other list you posted (winter one) is q1 2007 series. But if you haven't seen Nodame Cantabile, watch it now. It's great.

I'm not sure if Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann aired in spring or fall but if you haven't seen it, you definitely need to watch it. I loved it.

I haven't watched that many fall/winter series yet because I'm waiting for them to finish before I watch them so I can't really suggest anything.

Gurren Lagann and Code Geasse are the only ones that I've seen in the last 6 months... Gurren Lagann being one of my new all time favorites.

(as for the link, fixed... what a strange format)

Of the winter 08 list, I will check out Persona and the second season of Gunslinger Girl... but my hopes aren't very high for either.

Yeah, just be sure to watch Nodame. It's definitely one of the best series I saw in 2007 and really funny as well.

Winter 2008 doesn't look very promising but I can't wait for Major's 4th season. It starts tomorrow.

Bleh.  If Rosario Vampire is anything like the manga, then it's generic, crappy, and does not deserve an anime adaptation.

ARIA has always proven itself a solid series, however.  Even though a third season AND an OVA might be overmilking the franchise a little, I'm still more than willing to watch the third season, since there's no possible way that they can mess up ARIA's simple appeal.  Possibly Gunslinger Girls 2 as well (though I don't see how the series could continue after the conclusion of the first season).

Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro is a pretty good series; it just started this year.  I've seen the first two episodes and I'd reccomend it if you want to check out something new.

Amatsuki
Code Geass - 2nd Season
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - 2nd Season
Rosario + Vampire
Mushi-Uta -  2nd Season (Is there a second season?)
Persona -trinity soul-
Mirai Nikki
Kite Liberator

That's my list for upcoming anime (they're all listed on the site, but some are Spring 2008). Rosario + Vampire is definitely not my cup of tea, but the poster looks so darned cool I'll just have to watch the first episode to see if the animation is any good. Kite Liberator sounds interesting, and it's by the same people who did Mezzo Forte, so it should be cool (as long as they avoid the gratuitous sex scenes). Mirai Nikki is the crazy stuff I've read in recent memory (creepy stalker girl taking people apart with an axe), so of course I have to watch that, provided the animation doesn't suck and they don't screw up the plot.

I'm also looking forward to Persona and Amatsuki, the latter because I've read the manga and I'd like to see how they animate it, and the former because... well, it's Persona, man.

Other than that, most of them look like series I wouldn't be quite interested in. But hey, only time can tell: I was skeptical about Gurren Lagann when it first came out, and it took me until episode 11 aired to finally watch the first episode and find out how awesome it was.

Hey Chainer, I litterally heard nothing but good things about Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Considering that I watched all the decent shows out there already... I finally decided to get this one. I knew the show wasn't bad but I thought I would save it for a rainy day.

I'm now on the 9th episode and honestly, the 8th episode makes me want to stop watching the show. I think 8 is a magic number for BLANK, just like ANOTHER show I watched this year. I'll continue watching the show since it's been really good so far.

Yeah man, fuck that. I just watched the 8th episode.

I bet the series loses all its charm now. :(

Wow, I was wondering what you guys were on about with nothing of interest in the Winter 2008 season, but I just re-checked the list myself and it appears a lot of the gold has been bumped to Spring 2008 since the last time I read it :(. Farewell Haruhi second till we meet again at a later date. I think I'm going to pick the series for preview by peculiar screenshots then, and oh look there's one more Mai-Otome OVA as well.

You guys didn't hear? The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's second season got "cancelled (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-12-17/new-haruhi-suzumiya-anime-series-details-revealed)."

On the other hand, it sounds like they've all but announced the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. So yeah. I don't know if that has anything to do with why it's not till Spring, though.

Zoku/Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Don't ask why, just watch it.

I hope this is some kinda publicity thing because haruhi is the best anime series made since Cowboy bebop.

Kyon or Itsuki?
I like them both ^___^

On the one hand, Itsuki seems like he might conceivably be up for it....on the other hand, Kyon's so dreamy he's caught the eye of God. So you've got quite a choice ahead of you, I think!

Hehe, this topic made me watch Tengen and now it encouraged me to watch the first couple episodes of Haruhi. I'm not the biggest fan of school life based anime series but this isn't too bad.

Plus, I wanted to see why it was so damn popular.

Plus plus, Ocean and his damn signatures...  :fogetsad:

bah Itsuki has a nicer smile :p

Yah Haruhi is the only SCHOOL anime I like, it takes itself as an art, which is something few series' do. Also you BETTER be watching it in episode order, only fags watch it in chronological order!
