My brother was telling me about Euraka Seven and a little bit about it and I decided to watch it.
Holy shit, I've only seen a few episodes and I like what I've seen, it looks clean, crisp, and energetic. It certainly looks pretty interesting, and it has some of my favorite anime tropes; giant robots. I don't usually watch too much anime, but if this is good, I'm willing to illegally download the entire series get into it. Without spoiling it, can you guys tell me if I should get into it? What's your recommendation on it?
-
Fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah.
Seriously, watch Eureka seveN. It's fantastic. I am probably the world's biggest Eureka seveN fanboy.
-
It's a good series so yeah, you should watch it.
-
It has a few twists that slowly pushes it away from mecha (read:emo+pseudointellectualbabble), but as long as you are prepared for this... it should be an interesting watch.
-
Eureka Seven surprised me with how good it was. I'd say go for it. Like Chainer said, though, it moves away from mechaness not too long into it.
-
I never even thought Eureka Seven as mecha anime, although it has a lot of mecha elements in it. But yeah, the series is great and I highly suggest it if you haven't seen it already.
-
Haha did you see the one where everyone makes fun of renten and has moon doggy gets jealous? That's the episode that got me into it.
The only thing I don't like about Eureka Seven is the sometimes emotional/gay/cheesy speech Renten does sometimes in the anime.
-
it is good, the emo level is perfectly balanced that it doesn't stick through out the whole series, not to mention hallond kicks the crap of the emoness on an every other episode basis.
-
Yes you fucking should. Stop breathing and watch Eureka 7 instead.
Just keep in mind that it is not a mecha anime. There's a lot of them mecha battles in the beginning but later the focus is on, well, more interesting stuff.
-
Ah, thanks guys. It looks like something I'll definitely be getting into. And yes, I do hear it's not necessarily a mecha anime, but hey, that's okay too. It just looks solid in general.
Thanks guys!

Personally i'm happy it isn't. I was seriously considering skipping it after 3eps because well I could see it was good stuff but I just can't stand mecha shite.

I really loved the series just because of the mood it gives, and it really changes over time. By the end of the series you are honestly really suprised. But it just has a carefree feel to it in the start, and I really liked that. The animation is pretty amazing overall imo and I love the music, and the characters are pretty cool overall. Watch it. :)

i hear there is a lot of fanservice.
do tell.

Episodes 1-26 are legendary.
Episodes 26+....not so much.
Try and stop at episode 26.
lets see how do you activate that spoiler thingy....
It would have been better if every single character had their own mech, and it didn't have the whole coralian thing. Episodes 1-26 the Coralian seems like this whole mysterious thing. Later, it's spoiled by having these fish-like creatures that blow things up.
At episode 26, it really does come to the best climax of the entire series. It should have ended there.
It gets WAAAAAAY too emotional. I've never used the term 'emo' before, but now I understand why it is used. The whole series left me with a feeling of heavyness and incompleteness; just like Harry Potter.
Dewey Novak
......................................................
He is a completely useless villain. They try to play him out like the kind of powerful bad guy, and yet he just ends up shooting himself in the end. There is no final battle or anything like that. Not that I would demand one, but I really envisioned this guy to be quite powerful, and yet it took me until a couple hours after the last episode thinking ......
.......
wait....wait no....wait....yeah.....THAT GUY WAS COMPLETELY USELESS!
-
I found Dewey's death to be quite significant. Holland risked a lot to go in there and whup his brother's ass. And then he tries to beat up Holland and it turns out he is actually a nasty son of a bitch who wants to destroy all of humanity for its sake, and it's like "o_o you evil sonuvva". I dunno, I guess that yeah, Dewey is almost like the typical madman in his dreams/aspirations/goals?
You know, I have absolutely no idea what I said in that post at all.
-
I have to agree, although if Dewey had a robot I thought Holland could have had a final battle, which might have been fairly entertaining.. I see your point though, I just thought that he could have been more dangerous in other ways than just politically.
The series on second thought kind of reminds me of Last Exile, except a little more upbeat, rather than mellow.
