Title: Vista Upgrade or Downgrade
Post by: George W. Bush on January 14, 2008, 07:16:08 pm
Okay so I got Vista Business through my college and i don't need what  Business has to offers. I'd rather have Ultimate or Home Premium, but after looking around I personally couldn't find out how or if anyway to downgrade to home premium. I can upgrade to Ultimate but don't really want to spend 140.

You cannot 'change' to another version of the operating system without having a copy of that version. If you want Home Premium you will have to get a copy.

But why would you even want to downgrade to an operating system with less features? If you don't need the features, just don't use them.

Doesn't look like you're missing much from home premium. Might as well stick with business and disable what you don't use. You could even use a utility like vLite (http://www.vlite.net/download.html) which can make a custom ISO with unwanted components removed from the get-go.

Even though theres third party software to accomplish most of what home has over business, if you must have everything through WMP and its extenders, then you're going to have to buy a copy of Home Premium.
