Could someone help me. I have a laptop with vista and my mom recorded some stuff with her video camera onto an SD card. So, I popped it into my laptop and copied the two files onto my laptop but when I open them all that plays is the sound. They are AVI files and I have tried Stoik Video Converter and I just can't get them to play right. Somebody please help me.

Use a program like g-spot to find out what codec it uses and then download and install that codec. I'm guessing its mp4 so something like ffdshow or divx could probably play it.

Thank you for the help. I haven't tried yet but I will when I get home.

Search for "K-lite codec pack" it has about every video codec file you will need.

This codec pack will solve all your problems.

Codec packs SUCK.
Codec packs often have old, outdated and even conflicting codecs.
I have said this a thousand times and I'll say it again.
If you know what you're doing, you need no more than 10 codecs. Ever.
