Since there's no Sports forum, there's really nowhere else to put this but...
Pats beat the Chargers 21-12 in the AFC Championship game to get into the Superbowl.. Unlikely heroes in Maroney and THE CLUTCH VET TE Kevin Faulk makin' it happen for the Pats on Brady's off night... But the Chargers were missing Ladainian and had a limping Phil Rivers and Antonio Gates so that really crushed their dreams to play on the grandest stage from the outset. Hope they win it, I wanna see the greatest team ever to play.
Congrats to the NY Giants as well with a clutch performance from their backfield in beating the Packers in the NFC Championship game- Brandon Jacobs and Bradshaw making it happen and after 2 missed FG's, Tynes's ain't intimidated and hit a 47 yarder in Overtime to win it for the Giants... Can't forget about Plaxico, who absolutely destroyed the Packer's secondary and even hard hittin' Al Harris had no answers for the 6 foot 5 Wide Receiver. What a game this was, probably the best playoff game I've seen but the Giants had a little more heart to make it to the Superbowl in Arizona. I feel bad for Favre... Grant couldn't get it going but he wasn't given many opportunities and Favre turned into how he played last year in the 2nd half and through a costly INT to Madison in the end... bah
Hoping to reach for a nice Superbowl party... I wanna see history in the making with the Pats winning it all.

in tents
Either side winning makes some big news. This game is gonna either be off the hook or one sided.
-
I want to see the Patriots fail. I don't like them.
-
Superbowl weekend will be fun, since I live just a couple miles from the stadium, and might be working at the game.
I'm calling it Giants 35 - Patriots - 31 btw.
-
I hate the patriots as much as any other sane human being who doesnt punch babies and takes their candy, but I have a feeling theyre going to win.
-
Just finished watching both games as well...the Packers & Giants game was damn exciting! My dad...who is a real Giants fan was hollering it up all night long.
I'm trying to get the game off too, stupid work...
I say the Pats in a slaughter.
-
Hate to steal this from a DIGG comment, but:
"Third Tynes a charm."
The Giants just played better this game. Hope the patriots top off their perfect season.
-
It will be a most joyous occasion if the Giants win.
I can't stand the Patriots.
Being realistic, however, I just can't see the Giants winning without a whole lot of luck or the Patriots simply not showing up.
-
I told my dad if the Giants WERE to beat the Pats in the Superbowl, I would cry...then kiss his feet. :fogetgasp:
GO PATS GO!!! :fogetbackflip:
-
Didn't the Patriots cheat or something?
I don't watch football.

As much as I wanted the Packs to win and I hate to admit it but the Giants have a TON OF poise - even more so than the Patriots, who have demonstrated such a high level through their sheer talent alone.
The Giants have set an NFL record with 10 consecutive road victories so travelling to Arizona will actually benefit the Giants more than the Pats and the warm temperature will probably be even for both teams - as the Pats rely on that for their prolific air attack of Tom Brady to Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, Jabar Gaffney, Ben Watson and Kevin Faulk... Their D especially their linebacker corps - Junior Seau, Ted Bruschi, Adalius Thomas, Mike Vrabel and their secondary Rodney Harrison, Asante Samuel, etc. will all also benefit as they look to put the pressure on the opposing offense and they lay down massive hits. Brady needs to get his wide outs going early in order to avoid any sort of let downs and teams have done a great job in limiting the wide receivers in the recent weeks but Maroney has a done a good job of taking advantage of defenses that don't really focus on him much and he's putting up pretty big numbers to lead the Pats to victory...
But the Giants will also benefit from the warm temp in Arizona because they like to pound the ball with Brandon Jacobs and Bradshaw... Plus if a physical guy like Al Harris couldn't phase Plaxico in the cold one bit, then the Patriots' weak secondary has absolutely no chance of stopping Eli to get it to Plaxico on a consistent basis nor to Boss, who has filled in admirably for Jeremy Shockey.
As much as I want the Pats to win it to make history so that we can see the greatest team ever to play the game, do not put anything past these resilient Giants... They were huge under dogs in every game expected to get blown out but their poise and determination on the road has got them playing at this high of a level and they're at least the second best team in the NFL if not the best - only time will tell. As I said, they set an NFL record with 10 consecutive road victories and they're definitely not expected to win the Superbowl but that may work in their favour... They played the Patriots extremely tough in the season finale and had em' beat but the sheer talent of the Pats fighting for that perfect regular season got them over the hump...
I'm hoping for one hell of a kickass game though and it really should be... Go Pats, make history baby...
-
fuck the steelers for not getting in
-
Go Pats.
This is the Patriots' game. They're the only team to go 18-0 in NFL history, while breaking like every other record along the way. To break the momentum of the team is going to be tough, especially with so many veteran NFL players on the team like Seau, Vrable and Maroney and of course Belichick running the show. Doesn't hurt to have the potential best quarterback of all time on your team either, or the record setting tangent that he and Moss have put together.
I gave Green Bay a better chance of beating the Patriots. The style to beat them this year is to play extremely offensively, BULLY receivers (especially on the inside routes, Welker is ALWAYS waiting) while at least maintaining a decent defense. Just never letting up is the trick to me though, put the same pressure on them that they put on you. I say Green Bay for that because Favre's entire style is based around his go big or go home playing attitude, which means he either makes enormous plays or breaks them. It doesn't mean they would have won, but it would have given them a chance, which in my opinion is all a team has anymore against them. Unfortunately for Favre, his continually dangerous plays tend to catch up with him, and they did against the Giants.
Pats beat the Cowboys earlier this season, and I pictured more of the same if they went to the Superbowl but given they lost that Giants game (The Giants did not win that game, the Cowboys lost it by absolutely bombing in the clutch repeatedly and Romo eventually losing composure) that won't be happening anyways.
Now the Giants, they are not an easy team for New England. Manning is finally starting to show he's learned the composure that his brother has, and showed that he's gotten over his troubles of playing in bad conditions. This team got awfully tough this season, and suddenly has been blasting through the playoffs on what almost seems like Plaxico Burress will. They showed a decent running game against the Packers, and they were able to deliver in the clutch (Well, not Tyne but the team was, and he did in the end I guess. That weather was also windy as hell). They have pass protection capable of putting heat on players like Moss, and their defense has only looked better and better as the season's progressed. Umenyiora in particular put up some big plays last night.
I think the Giants will start strong, but fade quickly. This is the Superbowl, emotions will be high and adrenaline will be pumping from the start, and I think that will play against them. You can't ignore the pressure that's going to be on Eli, especially given that Peyton did not make the Superbowl and that's going to get to him. This is just another ride for Brady who has been here before, and seen victory 3 times doing it. Giants start winning early, maybe even get a 2-TD lead perhaps, and it's around then that the extremely underrated defensive line of the Patriots will start heating it up. Faced with the pressure of a stalwart team such as NE, the Giants will start buckling under the pressure of the biggest game of the season and composure will not maintain in the way we've seen it do so as of late for them. As the Giants begin to let up pressure just a bit, they begin allowing turnovers they shouldn't have, costing clutch plays and allowing the Pat offense to start doing what it does best. They seal the deal in the second half, as the Patriots almost always do.
This one's over in the third, 28-17 Patriots.
-
Here's my 2 cents:
1. Yes the Patriots are undefeated, but that doesn't mean they can't lose. Hell, a lot of the games that they have one have been close. Either coming back to take the lead in the 3rd quarter or just simply always being in the lead, they know what they have to do to win.
2. Personally, I'm kinda glad the Giants get another shot at the Pats. If anyone saw that game, you know it was amazingly close and the Pats barely scraped by again to pick up the W. I don't know all the statistics about that game or anything, but I know from watching the Pats play this year that the Giants were the team that game them the most run for their money. I'm interested to see what new plays the Giants can come up with that will open more holes in the Pats' defense.
This should be another close one, just as the one earlier in this year. May the best team win. (But I sure would like to see the Pats lose in the superbowl ;)
-
Hate the Pats if you want, but them winning is HISTORY. Go Pats!
-
If it was any other team besides the Pats, then go Giants...you deserve it.
But you cannot put a price on history, and I for one wanna see it...
(Yes somebody switched my shift...the only WAY I will miss this game is IF she decides to do a no-show)
Go Pats Go!
Prediction:
Giants - 21
Pats - 28 F
Will be pretty close... :fogetcool:
Remember that the Giants back on Week 17 ALMOST beat the Pats... :fogetshh:

This is pretty much the worst superbowl ever, im debating watching it but i might as well for the commercials. fuck the giants but FUCK THE PATRIOTS. i dont like a single fucking person on their entire team, theyre all a bunch of cunts. I HATE the giants with a passion but i hate the patriots even more, their old ass "veteran" defensive line included. i'd rather see the giants win because id love to see tom brady collapse on the floor and cry like the bitch he is. fuck im pissed. i would have never imagined at the beginning of the season that the superbowl would be GIANTS V PATRIOTS or i wouldve just not bothered to watch football this year. fuck.fuck.fuck. this sucks. it was also hilarious seeing belichick win coach of the year after he was caught cheating at the beginning of the year. fuck i hate the patriots and their bandwagoning piece of shit fans too.
also i have to hear shit from my girlfriend and her parents because theyre fucking giants fans. fuck. and my roommate is from new hampshire and is a New England fan. fuck. there is no winning scenario, i have to hear shit from both of them for a whole year.
my ideal superbowl ending scenario would be a really big bomb exploding the shit out of the dome in arizona, or giants winning by 1... w/e.
edit: i reread and just realized its just a stupid rant with lots of cussing but fuck it.
-
unfortunately i am pulling for the patriots to win this game
reason 1: i hate eli manning so fucking much it hurts. seeing his disgusted expression on draft day when he was taken by the chargers WHICH WAS BOO HOO NOT THE TEAM HE WANTED made me hate him forever. professional athletes are disgusting enough without having to endure this level of bullshit. reasonable people are usually very happy to be the most desired collegiate player in the nation. particularly ones who, like manning, actually aren't very good.
reason 2: there is a despicable guy i know irl whose favorite team is the giants, and the thought of him being happy is unacceptable.
reason 3: i have money on the patriots
yeah this is the worst/most painful superbowl ever and this is the first time in around 10 years where i probably will not watch it at all.
-
I guess it depends on how or what type of fans you are of either the game or the teams...but to me, this is going to be the best superbowl I have ever seen!!! BIGGER THEN ANY OF THE GAMES BEFORE THAT!!!
First, you have the teams. The Giants...the big underdogs, everybody written them off for dead a few weeks back...and everybody said that the Cowboys and Packers would kill em, yes even me! And let's not forget the Bucs too! But they keep on winning...with incredible odds...
...Then you have the team of destiny, spying or no spying...the Pats have put together one impressive run, doing only what a few teams can do...running the table and remaining perfect all season...they have looked good in all their wins, and yes...even a few games like against the Ravens, Colts, Eagles and yeah the Giants...looked like they were done for, but found a way...
...History VS the underdog...it doesn't get any better then THIS!!!
Plus I too have money on the Pats as well! I have a annoying dad who keeps bugging me everyday since the Giants beat the Packers...that they are going to win...
...Prove me wrong guys...
THIS IS GONNA BE ONE HELLA OF A MATCH!!!
So why not see the superbowl?
...Lol...
EDIT: Besides...you guys are Americans!!! You don't like hockey, and now...you don't like FOOTBALL!? What's this world coming too? I'm for Canada, and watch both the NHL and NFL whenever I can...jesus...can't miss a stanley cup playoff game NOR a NFL playoff game. ^^
-
it's not that i dont like football, its that ive been watching football for so long and like it so much that i have developed an unreasonable (not really, its pretty reasonable imo) hate towards these teams and cant stand seeing either of those shitty teams play, especially in the super bowl.
oh well, ITS THE GR8TEST GAME EVER!!! PATS V UNDERDOGS!! HISTORY!! i have to hear that dumb shit from so many retards who dont even watch regular season football and all it makes me want to do is punch them in the face.
-
It's unfortunate. I believed that Greenbay had a better chance of defeating NE in the superbowl.
Though, since the giants beat GB, my whole line of thinking is bankrupt.
You don't like hockey, and now...you don't like FOOTBALL!? What's this world coming too?
The members of this forum are obviously not your typical American.

Posting to express my annoyance over the Packers' defeat >:-(
GO NEW YORK
-
...History VS the underdog...it doesn't get any better then THIS!!!
uh, yeah it does. sure, the patriots may play terribly and the giants may play over their heads, but you really have no way of anticipating that before the game starts. and if you are anticipating that, then you are probably just wrong.
the reality of it is that this is, far and away, the most lopsided superbowl matchup going into the game in recent memory. hell, this might be the most lopsided superbowl matchup EVER. new england is currently THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAM EVER, and New York is mainly in the playoffs because each of their opponents shot themselves in the foot. i can only assume that you are new to football if you are completely convinced that this is going to be some incredibly memorable game beyond the obvious records/blowout potential, and not the nauseating shitfest that every bit of logical information indicates this will be.
this game is particularly underwhelming in light of the fact that this game was almost Brady vs. Favre which, despite the fact that Green Bay isn't actually that good of a team, would have been one of the most unquestionably significant quarterback matchups in superbowl history. possibly THE most significant, although i'm not ruling out any huge matchups that currently slip my mind.
-
Yeah, I couldn't decide what I cared for more: For Green Bay to win so I could watch two future Hall of Famer QB's have at it, or for the Giants to win so that I could increase my Patriots Fan Win Confidence (r) Level by another 400%.
Although I'm a huge NE fan, I'm not oblivious to Pat hatred. If the Pats do win and go 19-0, 3/4 of sports websites will still run articles questioning the neutrality of refs and the NFL's CONSPIRACY. Oh well.
-
I don't like Tom Brady and I'm not the biggest Patriots fan (Chargers and Vikings are my teams) but I don't understand why people are adverse to them. I mean, I am really excited to see a perfect season + Playoffs come around in my lifetime. I mean it's history and I watch football for 2 things. To see my favorite teams play as frequently as possible and to see other teams do something really impressive. And this is really impressive, regardless of how much people hype this shit, the Patriots winning wasn't easy (there was luck and skill involved) and they are also in the fucking AFC which is a lot better then the NFC.
I am also a Randy Moss fan so I was very happy to see him being one of the major reasons that the Patriots are doing well.
Also I don't like Eli ever since the game against the Broncos where he was being a complete dick to Cutler on camera.
Edit: also also Celtics Red Sox Patriots championships would be cool
-
So yeah, i'm going through something absolutely unprecedented in being a sports fan. My baseball team just won the world series, again, my basketball team has the best record in the NBA, and my football team is one win away from being the greatest team in sports history.
I am very excited to beat New York again, it always makes it sweeter.

I stopped reading right here. Kevin Faulk is a Running Back not a tight end. One thing I hate is discussing sports with people who know little about them.
Truth- Right after Boston won the World Series I knew this would me Boston/New England's year when Moss, Garnett, Welker and Allen all got shipped out to Massachusetts. I won't be surprised to see them take the Superbowl as well as the NBA championship.

I'm a Redskins fan and this is how I feel exactly (except for the Bolts/Vikes part). If the Patriots go 19-0 then I'll feel like I lived through something big. Although my natural inclination is to hate the Giants and any other NFC East team, I'm not sure who I'll be cheering for in the Superbowl- The Patriots making history or the Giants.
Fact: Every time the Giants have won the Superbowl the Redskins win it the next year. So I'm torn.
To break the momentum of the team is going to be tough, especially with so many veteran NFL players on the team like Seau, Vrable and Maroney
Dude Maroney is definately not a veteran.
All this football talk has me hyped up for some Madden. If anybody has a PS3 and madden add me my PSN is JTriz87 and I will destroy you.
Sorry the black guy came out.
-
I knew this would me Boston/New England's year when....Welker....got shipped out to Massachusetts.
i am going to have to call bullshit on this!! i was a pretty big fan of wes welker after watching a handful of miami games in 2006, but never with my overwhelming, but apparently justified optimism over the guy did i EVER think that he would have the sort of season he had this year and contribute what he did to this team, and i don't realistically see how anybody else could have either. there's no way someone could have looked at this short, scrappy return man/receiver and thought THIS GUY IS GOING TO MAKE THE PATS REALLY SPECIAL. i actually thought it would be a realistic scenario to expect him to have a season with the patriots similar to the season brandon stokley (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StokBr00.htm) had with the colts in 2004 during Manning's 48TD year.
hell, i thought welker was brought into the organization as third-stringer material anyway? i thought they were going to give the SECOND FIDDLE TO MOSS role to stallworth. could be wrong there though.
eh, not like it matters because there were enough incredible players coming into new england over the offseason anyway, i'm just saying.
also, to pats fans: how big of a difference was adalius thomas this year? the pats signing him made me not want to watch football at all this year, because he was the best player on the ravens for years despite playing with a few future hall of famers. also he was what i thought would be the NAIL IN THE COFFIN along with moss for the entire NFL. i definitely didn't think UNDEFEATED because that's an enormous leap, but that's what made this team the best in the nfl in my mind. anyway, i'm kinda curious to know if i was right, and if he did make that big of a difference in the patriots' transition from excellent team to best ever team. i didn't watch a lot of the patriots, and i really haven't heard anything about him
also if i was wrong, look for the guy to potentially get better down the road. he can be a pretty wacky player, so you kinda have to work his skill set into the playbook by hand. plus, he was always the late-bloomer type who somehow manages to improve his game dramatically every year. always seemed like a pretty cool guy too, for what it's worth.

Well I don't tend to pay attention to defensive players as much as I do to offensive players (sad, but true), but looking over real-time game stats during Pats games (to try to kick hundley ass in fantasy football) I noticed Thomas was consistently at the top of the list in tackles. I got so excited during the first home game against San Diego when he had an INT return for a touchdown. For a fairly big guy, he sure can run! But that was the only one of the season. However, I remember one game where he had 9 tackles and the next closest defensive player had 4. I think that says a lot about his contribution to the team when you have guys like Bruschi and Harrison getting half as many tackles as him!. Also, he wasn't a sacking machine or anything, but he had a few games with a couple sacks.

Let me restate that. I knew when Moss was shipped out, but I remember watching the NE-NYJ when i really realized "OK, the Patriots are the team to beat this year." Spygate or not.

don't misread me! i'm not doubting the validity of anybody thinking the patriots were unstoppable after seeing their incredible off-season. i think it was a perfectly legitimate thing to think even before you saw the 2007 team hit the field.
you just kinda implied that the wes welker was one of the big motivators for your thinking that!! which i find difficult to believe, given the fact that this is WES WELKER and before this season he was nothing more than THAT GUY WHO SOMETIMES CATCHES BALLS WHEN CHRIS CHAMBERS DOESN'T

I know a lot about it... just a stupid mistake on my part. He plays a lot like a tight end though you gotta admit.
P.S. Natural its formerly Ghettofresh, just a name change so you know that I know a lot about this kind of stuff :fogetshh: Come back foo' (not that i've been around lately either but...)
-
To answer your question as someone who knows what they are talking about justings (soz ASE I will teach you all you need to know let's party), Thomas has been kind of A SPECTER. They played him at MLB for a large portion of the year until colvin went down when they put him on the outside. While he had the huge interception, it just seems like he does a ton of things FAIRLY WELL but nothing he does really ever jumps out at you as being All Pro. Vrable is a better pass rusher, Bruschi is better in coverage, and Seau is the best on the team easily against the run. Although he seems very versatile, I think we need to give Coach a little bit more time to get the most out of Adalius.

earl morrall > tom brady
-
GIANTS WIN!
17-14.
Absolutely insane.
-
OMFG YES
-
Just... wow. Eli Mannings is a hero.
-
Get Randy Moss off the fucking Patriots and get him to a decent team please.
Eli Manning is still a prick (encouraging shit during the Broncos game and directing stuff at Cutler who wasn't pulling any shit) but he was still impressive. Brady was the reason they loss hopefully this will kill the myth that Brady is some amazing quarterback.
-
YES!
-
WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW BRADY
-
HAHAHA YES! OH YES!
I'M ECSTATIC
-
This is amazing!!!! Giants pulled it off holy crap...Mannings mvp's for two years in a row.
-
GIANTS WOOT!!!!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA! PERFECT SEASON MY ASS!!!
Sorry sorry, I really love this, it's so sweet to see the Giants win!
-
I'm still in some shocked state man... craziness but the Giants deserved it the way they played defense and shut down the Pats.
Eli played pretty good but I think the defense of the Giants were the real MVPs... Strahan, Pierce, all of em played their hearts out. The blitzes and pressures they put onto Brady was outstanding.
Congrats to the Giants... they fully deserved this win... They prevented history and of the Pats being considered the greatest team ever to play and now finish 18-1 (Still amazing but that one loss hurts the most by far). Looks like some peeps didn't give them enough credit.
I must say though... David Tyree the hero in those crucial plays and the TD. Plaxico got the one in the final minute though on some weak coverage... Think that was Samuel's assignment?
-
well..shit
-
reason 2: there is a despicable guy i know irl whose favorite team is the giants, and the thought of him being happy is unacceptable.
reason 3: i have money on the patriots
somewhere hundley is drunk as shit.
-
if you watched the game you would know that the giants outplayed the pats. period.
Tom Brady is a great QB. Congrats to Billacheck for ruining their perfect season.
-
dude brady overthrew the entire game
he played good but not great. unfortunately you try not to play anything less than great in the SUPERBOWL
edit: not taking away from the giants though that defense was sick
-

sorry for doublepost i missed this
if you actually think this you are fucking retarded
-
The game was rather incredible. It was made better by the fact I was for the Giants, but it was an incredible game.
-
I was mainly rooting for the Giants because some fucking article or book or something that the Boston Globe printed was about how the Patroits went 19-0 and had an awesome season (it was printed days before the Superbowl). A little too confident eh? :hmm:

Haha yeah, I mentioned this to my brother yesterday as why the Patriots would lose.
He's a huge Pat fan so he's probably pissed hardcore. I'm upset but eh, 18-1 is still pretty cool.
Apparently not 'amazing quarterback' cool, but what do I know. Breaking numerous single season records is no big.
-
Congrats on the flaming. Maybe uh you shouldn't be a shitty poster? Disagree with me, call me stupid, but have some fucking substance when you do it.
1. I'm a Vikings fan. Moss is an ex Viking. I want him to be part of a championship team some time in his life. I don't like the Patriots and apparently they can't win a championship with him (he was so underused too).
2. Brady was terrible. I'll give that the protection was terrible, but every pass deep was overthrown. Even the ones he had time on. Yea coaching and the rest of the team have a lot of influence, but Brady wasn't in the game and that's why they lost. And he is also way over-hyped!
3. Manning is a prick, he lacks all the qualities Peyton has that make him a good guy to cheer for.
-

Terrible or not this game, which I feel he did play kind of shitty, that doesn't change the fact that he is still a VERY amazing quarterback.
Three out of four superbowls isn't bad man. I even mentioned the overthrowing myself in an earlier post.
I flamed you because there is no real way to make an argument that Brady is not an amazing, future hall-of-famer quarterback. The guy's slick as hell, define to me why he'd ever be overrated? Sure he gets plenty of hype and such, but the dude's EARNED it.
Edit: Also of course Moss was underused, he was the last like 6 games. It's because the teams really started getting on him, shutting him down with the double-coverage especially. The guy broke the single season record for receiving TDs, which Brady helped him do by passing to him the ENTIRE regular season.
Brady should have thrown to Moss more, but I think that's more a point to how good the Giants DEFENSE was than a failing on Brady.
-
I just took a packing peanut bath to try to decrease my depression....
it didn't work
Pass protection fucked the Pats. Giants pass rush was insane.
-
What the hell was with Brady fumbling that fucking toss in the 3rd? Ooops doesn't cover it.

I want to catch footballs with my head.
Also, Welker was awesome.
-
I think Tuck should have been MVP instead of Manning :(
-
hopefully this will kill the myth that Brady is some amazing quarterback.
sorry, but you are mistaken. there is no MYTH here. you must be really new to football if you think tom brady is anything but an amazing football player. i've never in my life seen a more CLUTCH, dependable athlete. this guy has an .823 career winning percentage in the playoffs after today's game. .823. for comparison's sake, joe montana's career playoff winning percentage is .696, even though he was undefeated in 4 super bowl appearances. brady would have to lose in the first round of the playoffs every year for the next four years to fall below montana's mark.
i can dig up plenty more numbers to back up how good tom brady is, but i'm not going to waste my time. i REALLY dislike tom brady, but the reality is that the guy could retire RIGHT NOW and still make the hall of fame.
this game wasn't about IS TOM BRADY GOOD OR NOT. this game was about SO IS TOM BRADY THE BEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL TIME. i don't know how the hell you missed this??????? maybe you should evaluate players by THEIR CAREER and not by watching THEIR WORST GAME
I don't like the Patriots and apparently they can't win a championship with him
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
jesus christ dude come on! this team was fucking four points away from being totally fucking undefeated!
do you seriously not realize that randy moss is in the ABSOLUTE IDEAL SCENARIO?????
I think Tuck should have been MVP instead of Manning :(
on an unrelated note: THIS
everyone had it pretty well figured out that the only way the giants could even come close to the patriots would be if they got to brady. and tuck got to brady.
also
somewhere hundley is drunk as shit.
eh, i didn't really care. didn't even end up watching most of the game, and what little i did watch was in my bedroom completely sober. i had money on the game, sure, but i really dislike both teams. i'll admit that i was really pulling for terrorists to bomb the super bowl
-
FUCK TOM BRADY AHAHAHA.
I was so happy to see his little bitch ass cry.
but yea, terrorists bombing the superbowl was my #1 scenario.
-
HOW ABOUT THEM FUCKIN GIANTS
holy shit that game was amazing
-
Haha, I'm glad they lost. I was sick of hearing my friends talking about how they can't lose.
It was a very close game though. If Eli didn't magically get out of that blitz on that third down and throw the ball 40 yards for that first down, they probably would have lost. That was an insane throw, and a good catch.
That seriously was the best game I've seen in a long time.
-
Alright I'll concede I said some dumb things. Obviously Moss is in one of the best situations he could possibly be in. This is more of a personal wishing he played for a team I liked.
Sorry but I'm an unfair guy and I don't give Brady all the credit. He has been on some amazing teams filled with all above average players. When did Brady break all these records? When he got some really good receivers. Of all those records he broke, most were other peoples and not some great record he set earlier. He also has an attitude problem and can't stand criticism on a poor game, instead claiming the Patriots don't get enough credit when they come into question.
The one thing to Brady's credit that I won't disagree with is his ability to come back. Yea he's a confident guy and shit doesn't get to him. He's also a 3 time super bowl champ in some very close games.
Do you think Brady is better than Peyton? Peyton only has a .500 winning percentage in the playoffs and yet he's regarded as a very quarterback too. Peyton doesn't have nearly as good a team. I won't make dumb speculation about if Peyton were on the Patriots or something like that but I do think Brady's record could be challenged by Peyton with a few of the teams holes fixed and a superstar receiver.
I guess my point is you say I'm judging him only by this game but I'm judging him by the team around him. He's not a bad quarterback, I'm not trying to sell him short, but there is this Myth that he's the reason the patriots are so good. Him, and hell even Moss, are the product of fine coaching and a great roster. Losing this game didn't make me think differently. Today Brady had a bad game with the overthrows. That doesn't make him terrible. I won't pretend he wasn't a part of an undefeated regular season. Winning tonight wouldn't have made me think of him as anything even greater unless he had done some incredible play.
Sorry the post is such a mess

The problem with this is that you can say this about virtually all quarterbacks that hold or held significant passing records. Nobody just BREAKS A RECORD. It's always this great situation where a quality quarterback meets quality receivers within a well-run offense.
What's significant about Brady is that he has ALWAYS been a top-notch quarterback, even when his supporting offensive cast was pretty dreadful. Before Maroney, Welker, and Moss showed up, Brady endured this revolving door of only marginal talent beyond the offensive line and one very good year of Corey Dillon. Apart from Troy Brown, who really only had one outstanding year, Tom Brady really has not had a go-to guy, or any one dependable star player to rely on within the passing game. He ended up using guys like Deion Branch, David Givens, David Patten, etc who actually weren't quality players beyond what Tom Brady managed to get out of them. Seeing how generally useless they were without Tom Brady is testament to that. The running backs and receivers of the 2003 Patriots team were PARTICULARLY AWFUL, and it's pretty hard to imagine them winning the superbowl with such a wretched team.
So yeah, it's clear that the records came from an unusually good supporting cast, but Brady's career is based on MANY seasons where it truly was the Tom Brady show.
Do you think Brady is better than Peyton? Peyton only has a .500 winning percentage in the playoffs and yet he's regarded as a very quarterback too. Peyton doesn't have nearly as good a team.
I don't think Brady is better. I know Brady is better.
The major reason why Manning's playoff record is only .500 is because the guy was infamous for choking in big games. You go down his playoff career and you'll see a lot of pretty sad performances where his inability to get anything done was the reason why the team failed to do anything in the playoffs. Games like this are literally non-existent for Brady, and he's played quite a few more playoff games than Manning has. Apart from today, Brady has never really had a disaster game in the playoffs. Even his two previous losses were pretty solid performances.
Plus, don't act like Peyton Manning was doing this all by himself, or he had some dreadful team behind him. Peyton has ALWAYS had Marvin Harrison. He had Edgerrin James for the better part of 7 years, and Joseph Addai for two. Reggie Wayne ended up becoming a quality pro-bowl receiver. They call Dallas Clark a tight end, but the guy moves like a wide receiver. These guys were clearly better with Peyton Manning, but each of these guys are unquestionably talented football players that would be good on any NFL team. My point is that there was always this really solid, established supporting cast around Peyton Manning. Maybe the team as a whole wasn't quite as good, but there have always been a definitively higher standard of offensive players around Peyton Manning, and until this year, there really wasn't much question of that.
Yet,
Peyton Manning Career Passer Rating: 94.7
Tom Brady Career Passer Rating: 92.9
I really don't see where Peyton Manning has the edge in any facet of his game over Tom Brady. Doesn't have the numbers edge, doesn't have the playoff success, and has always had at least two fucking incredible offensive players to directly boost his stats. Manning is lucky he squeezed by the Patriots last year and beat the MIGHTY BEARS, or you wouldn't even be able to say his name in the same sentence as Brady.
I won't make dumb speculation about if Peyton were on the Patriots or something like that but I do think Brady's record could be challenged by Peyton with a few of the teams holes fixed and a superstar receiver.
When you have a reciever that accumulates 146 catches, and 1722 yards in a season, you have a superstar. Period.
Beyond that, I honestly don't see how A BETTER DEFENSE would have helped Peyton Manning, which is all you can really say because the Colts have had the most explosive offense in the NFL for years. Look at Manning's playoff record (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MannPe00_playoffs.htm), particularly his early playoff appearances. Manning has been a part of some fantastic playoff games, but he's also been a part of some genuinely pathetic fuckups that were honestly HIS FAULT. Keep in mind that he had great go-to receivers at this time, as well as great running backs to rely on. Most of these years, he had an offensive line that most thought was on-par with that of New England, if not better. Brady always had a great line, but he has stayed fuckup free for YEARS without consistently superior offensive talent.
If the difference between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were just HIS TEAM, which you have asserted here, then Peyton Manning wouldn't have fucked up so damn much with a SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER OFFENSE.
I'm not trying to sell him short, but there is this Myth that he's the reason the patriots are so good.
Yes he is not the only reason, but Tom Brady is unquestionably one of the most consistent playoff athletes in the history of professional sports. The numbers don't lie (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradTo00_playoffs.htm). The only other player I've seen with playoff numbers like that was Joe Montana, and he was a guy who got to play with Jerry Rice for a really long time.
Brady has been on some fantastic teams, but just being on a fantastic team isn't enough. There are always fantastic teams. One of the major reasons why the Patriots are THE team is because Tom Brady has this absolutely unreal sense of composure and the ability to get things done on the football field, regardless of the circumstances or the opponent. Nobody's perfect, but he's really close.
I hate saying this because Tom Brady makes me absolutely sick. The man is fucking unreal, and if the remainder of his career is only half as good as the first half of it, Tom Brady will go down as the best quarterback that ever lived.

is it true that tom brady left his pregnant girlfriend for a supermodel
-
Alot of people mention the fact that Brady was overthrowing alot of his deep balls. Let's not forget he has/had an injured ankle and my guess (and it's just a guess) is that Brady was overthrowing on purpose to try and make up for the pain in his ankle. It's harder to set your feet and get power when your ankle is hurting.
Anyone who shits on the Patriots is stupid. They didn't have a perfect season but they went 18-1. That's the second best record in the Super Bowl era tied with the Chicago Bears of the 1985 season. Brady set the record for TD passes. Moss set the record for Recieving TD. OH NO THEY ONLY WON 3 SUPERBOWLS!!
-
get outta here. they suck.
but yea, im going to agree with hundley. i hate tom brady and the patriots but they are a great team and tom brady is pretty much the sole reason for that. but hes a fag and he lost the superbowl so he can go suck on a dick whilst back2back mannings get praise from the almighty archie manning. sucks for peyton that his little brother pretty much one upped him and won the superbowl by beating a real team and not the fucking bears being led by the GREAT GROSSMAN!!!!1

True point, though I think most of the overthrowing was just due to how damn good the Giants defense was at getting to him.
Also Roman he left her before he found out she was pregnant as far as the media world knows, though that is a pretty good chance why he did!
-
Breaking numerous single season records is no big.
While he did have an amazing quarterbacking season, it still wasn't as impressive as '04 Manning or '84 Marino.
-
I don't see how it's not as amazing. He beat their records.
-
The Giants defense put too much pressure on Tom Brady for him to be able to throw effectively. Any quarterback in his situation would have struggled. I am not making apologies for him. The Giants played great defense and they deserved to win the game.

Which is why Tuck should have been MVP imo, despite pretty much everyone I know agreeing with the Manning MVP. :(

Doesn't the winning team's QB win the superbowl MVP every year?
-
It usually goes to either a Quarterback, a running back, or a defensive player IF they get like 3 ints/sacks/fumble recoveries/etc.
But yeah it happens alot.

Sadly, it does go to the QB a lot :(
