Whoop! So apparently AD the movie is actually going ahead.
http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/
Jason Bateman's received the call, so has Jeffrey Tambor. This is pretty great, because AD was a criminally fantastic series. For those of you who haven't seen Arrested Development, stop reading this post, go out and buy the boxset and watch it. Really.
So who else is excited?
-
I am quite excited for this.
I've recently just watched through the first two seasons on my computer (and I have the third season downloaded as well, just haven't had the time to watch through it all yet), and this is definitely one of the funniest and best tv series that I've ever seen
-
excellent.
-
OH NO WAY!
Rumors been around for a while but hot shit!!!!!!!
-
fucccccckkkkkkkk yyeessssssss
man, its too bad they don't even have a script yet. this shit is going to take a couple years to come out :(
-
excellent.
Very.
I was just talking about AD today, in fact.

Bump
I went to the theater to see it the other day and the bastards moved the 3 o'clock showing to 2:30 because they wanted the peak time slot to be dedicated to the new simpsons movie.
-
I hope this doesn't happen. :(

I dont get this joke.

I have mixed feelings about this. I really like the show but the series finale really wrapped things up for the story. I don't know where they could go with this unless they basically ignore everything that happened during the entire third season.
well, hopefully it won't try to be some sort of big thing or continuation with a stupid cliffhanger ending, and maybe just like... an update or like a five years later something happens and here is a movie about it type of thing, you know? like, i'm also a little wary, but i think that just because the show more or less ended on a pretty final note doesn't mean they can't come up with a pretty decent and plausible plot for a movie.
-
yeah if there was a single group of TV writers that could be trusted with this, its these people!
-
as far as things having been wrapped up goes, i don't really think that matters to something like arrested development. my friend said basically the same thing, that he doesn't see how they can top the ending of season 3. i get the concern that it could come back and not be any good, but i don't see what that has to do with the plot being wrapped up. major plotlines included: maeby pretending to be a movie executive, tobias living out the plot of mrs. doubtfire and buster dating old ladies. this isn't stuff of high artistic integrity, it's comedy.
were there even any huge changes in the finale? micheal ran off (Lets face it he's made this threat before), and the subplot with maeby is no longer biological incest. the ending was good, and it could easily be the ending of the whole thing, but there were loads of loose ends and for most of the characters it was just business as usual. the characters were still funny, the writing was still good. all that matters is that it is funny and smart the way the show was, and i'm confident it will be.

I was trying to make fun of the slot switching that killed the show. Maybe they'll just release this to limited theaters or send it straight to DVD instead.
Maybe they'll do something along the lines of Michael having rebuilt and then getting pulled back in. Or even remarrying into another family that's as strange and George Michael falls in love with his step sisters (twins).
But yea, I trust they'll do this justice and make it something entertaining. As long as it doesnt play out like the Futurama, Family Guy, and Simpsons movies I'll be happy.

oh god I hope this is rated R

oh god I hope this is rated R
yeah i remember mitch saying something like if they had ever gotten picked up by cable the first thing they would have done was show G.O.B. and a lady getting gratuitous.
i think this show got away with a lot for a network, just by covering whatever it was they were talking about up in really thin innuendo or bleeping it. i kind of hope the bleeping stays. swearing can be funny, but the bleeping is a big part of the joke on this show.
i've been watching the series again cos of this news. there are a few jokes here and there which are a little obvious, but more or less it is as good as i remember. i've been watching season 1 cos i have it on DVD but i remember liking 2 the best so i have to get it.

I dunno if you live in America, but Target sells all the seasons for $20 each, sometimes less. So that's $60 for the complete set. I bought all mine off of Deep Discount, thinking I was getting a huge deal, ended up being like $74. :\

Oh shit! For Real?! This is awesome news!

I just got back from my school's comedy show and Will Arnett (Gob) guest-appeared! An audience member asked him if the Arrested Development Movie was happening or not. He said:
"Yes. It is in the making. BUT DON'T TELL ANYONE ITS A SECRET"
-
Like all the main characters from Arrested Development have been appearing in movies, sitcoms, and other shows. Hopefully they can drag them from whatever worthless projects they're working on to be in the movie (worthless compared to AD :gay:).
