Post by: George W. Bush on February 15, 2008, 03:56:48 am
Okay so I recently (today) installed Ubuntu on a spare 40 GB HD I had laying around just to mess with it. I'm trying to get Beryl on it but it really confusing to me (noob with Linux). I was wondering if any of you had done it and know what i need to do/link to a video walk through or w/e.

I don't know about SuSE, but on Ubuntu you should be able to just grab the program by using Synaptic Package Manager. Just run a search for "beryl" and the rest should be simple.

Beryl merged with Compiz.

Compiz is available by default in Ubuntu 7.10 if your videocard supports it (also maybe not if you haven't installed any drivers for your card). Check System > Properties > Appearance and Desktop Effects.

If you want more options you'll have to install compizconfig-settings-manager.

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
