No disrespect to the guy or anything but people really need to stop posting so many obituaries in the general forum. It's not particularly general nor is it entertaining in any way. I just find the whole thing kinda morbid.

It pisses me off how it was Wizards main goal to steal as much money from Gygax as possible. Ever since the original 3.0, they tried their hardest to remove any mention of the original Greyhawk world so they wouldn't have to pay Gygax royalties. Now with 4th edition coming out, Greyhawk and any mentioning has been completely removed and his family gets absolutely shit.
I hope he does rest in peace because if I created DnD I'd be rolling in my grave after seeing the changes they're doing to DnD. It's more like WORLD OF DUNGEONCRAFT TABLETOP... BUT MOSTLY PLAYED ONLINE.

I just learned about him today. Really, D&D has always been a game I've always wanted to play. But I really don't have any cool nerd friends who enjoy this kinda stuff.

But honestly, i never played dnd to much. A couple of friends and I played a couple games but never really had the time to get a weekly game going and it ended like that. That man was pretty creative to invent such complex game and im sure he will be missed by many.
Everybody has probably seen this already but I'm posting it anyway.

the xkcd was the only funny comic about it and xkcd blows entirely so that was really a nice surprise.xkcd has been pretty lame lately, but it's had a period of constant good comics, I think. The guy who makes them simply is really creative, which is also why this one doesn't capitalize on the whole "he rolled a 20" or "lol saving throw" like the rest of the entire internet did.
Well, whatever, this isn't about xkcd. I've actually never played Dungeons & Dragons. I keep thinking that maybe I should, but I'd probably feel really uncomfortable among those people who play it all the time and know exactly what to do.Most people don't really care about that and just enjoy playing with beginners since they aren't minmaxing their characters out, are trying fun things out and are roleplaying. Also half the people don't really care at all as long as you don't disturb them when they're trying to convince the DM that the lady in the bar really wants to give them a blowjob.

Anyone who inspires a civilization in which people pretend to be able to have powers is cool in my book.
I guess this guy is the one to thank for Knights of the Old Republic (in a pretty indirect way).
