Title: Productive Free Time.
Post by: ThugTears666 on March 10, 2008, 08:24:20 am
Me and Climbtree were semi talking about this on Irc and I know it's been done before but it did get me thinking.

Alot of my friends play sport or go to the gym, people here seem to be always working on projects or making music and when I think of myself not at school or at work I'm the laziest person ever. Like I hate working so when I'm not at work I do almost nothing and I want to be somewhat more productive with my free time. I usually have at least a few hours a day free.

How productive are you guys with your free time? Are you always working on something new or do you just play games or whatever when you aren't busy?

Also what is your attitude towards working!? Do you hate it so much that when you know you have work later in the day you just dwell about it the whole day!? (I do this)

I work out, study, or just dick around online. More often than I'd like is the former. I don't really play the vidya gaems anymore because I feel like I always have something that can be done, so it feels to unproductive. That and there's nothing that really interests me atm in terms of games.

I dont mind working, just fucking waking up for it. I spend my free time just screwing around, I'm pretty lazy too come to think of it haha. I DO spend somewhat of a lot of times playing games, or just watching tv or playing guitar.

It depends. Sometimes I work a lot in my free time, like on games and pixel art jobs, but sometimes I get in these slumps where I do nothing but just crawling around the internets waiting for something interesting to happen. I hate it when it happens, I feel like I'm really wasting my time then.

I play WoW whenever I'm not working, or just watch random programmes and stuff.

I'm lazy as fuck, but I like it that way.

I've gotten pretty decent at cooking. But I, too, am looking for another "productive" hobby. I want to get better at C++ or music but I keep putting it off for some reason. :P

right now i spend about 30 minutes a day reading french and trying to catch up with that, otherwise I mainly do a lot of musicmaking and just goofing around in games or on the net

thing is, i cant stand doing things im not good at so i really have to force myself to do the french bit (because i suck so much i have to check up words all the time). it used to be that way with music too but then i started getting the hang of it and now i can sit like 14 hours a day for a week making music and not getting sick of it. hopefully soon the french'll start coming naturally....

I have a ton of free time because my day job usually begins at 5am and ends at 1pm... I don't go to sleep until 11pm so I have the opportunity to get a lot of stuff done.

Basically I work on wedding packages I shot the previous weekend, write some more of my novel, do some web/graphic work, or work on my car. I am lazy but I've got too much going on to be unproductive.

I'm hardly ever productive. If I can find even a hint of an excuse to do something other than be productive, I take to it like a newborn to a wetnurse.

It's horrible because I have way more free time than I deserve. Usually if I go on like that for long enough, I end up discontented enough to actually force out a wild, random spurt of productivity, but my productivity level overall is too small to even mention.

I am sometimes TOO productive. Ever since I hit my 20's I've had this weird issue where if I am not getting something done in my free time I feel weird. Sometimes, rarely now I do just relax and watch something or play a game by myself but usually doing something

I spend a lot of time also doing things with my girlfriend like watching movies or going out and I guess that's not PRODUCTIVE but I am spending time with a loved one and I guess essentially improving our relationship/etc.. ITS LIKE AN INVESTMENT! (That is a horrible way to say it for a relationship but you get what I mean)

Usually I am either working on some new code, cooking, or reading up and doing research on things. Also currently learning guitar 2 times a week

I generally read a lot in my free time, or hone my musics skills

my free time has been less productive as of late though, I get distracted by stupid shit and end up wasting hours just talking to people and I feel bad about it afterwards but whatever

When I got free time, I usually play basketball, sit on the computer or read a book, although that is not much because of school/lessons, etc.

I don't mind working hard as long as the project I am working on is interesting
