Title: Dual Monitors
Post by: Silhouette on March 13, 2008, 06:53:13 am
So I felt inspired today and got the cabling required to hook my laptop to my TV, and I'm enjoying having dual monitors (well, it's really more like 1 1/2, since the TV doesn't display very well at high resolution, I can barely read anything). It's a bit fuzzy, since it's a CRT and has the standard yellow/white/red inputs, but it's still fun to be able to type this on my TV screen while my other screen remains uncluttered.
So what are your experiences with dual monitors? How have they helped you become more productive? How have you used them to their maximum potential? What ideas do you have? How have you maximized the visual quality and readability on the second monitor if it was a TV screen or older monitor?
Looking forward to hearing replies.

I used S-video out for my TV which let text be readable up to 800x600, but I would mostly use it for watching movies or playing console emulation. It was usually something I did when my friends were around since it was easier so just hop on the couch then to gather around the computer to watch a movie/play a game. I had thoughts of dual computer monitors but I really have no use for them, I mostly play games or browse the web and chat so everthing is done fine on one monitor. I also am running SLI and heard it has problems with dual display, and I wouldn't want to enable it for the performance decrease / compatibility problems anyways.

It's great to use dual monitors, especially if you're on a laptop. Some advantages:

I have a 13" inch MacBook which is hooked up with a 23" inch Apple Cinema Display, and it's the perfect setup to me.
