I have my external drive currently in two different partitions. Currently one is for music and the other partition is for videos/games/etc. Regardless though, when I boot into XP it sets their drive letter appropriately, but if I ever have to turn off the HD or forget to turn it on when I boot up in the morning, it sets the drive letters opposite of each other (The music partition is G and the other is H respectively, but they switch if I turn on the HD after windows is booted up) Is there any way to force it to keep the drive letter to the individual partitions? Sorry, I don't know the answer to this, but I wonder why you'd partition your hard drive when both partitions basically contain the same type of information (personal files).

Ah, I see. It makes sense then. I figure that it probably makes your music drive the H: because it's initialized a bit later than the kernel-native NTFS partition. I'm sure you can set your NTFS partition to always mount as H:, in which case the music partition will automatically take on G: as the first available drive letter.
