Title: Might as well formally introduce myself.
Post by: TMAC on March 29, 2008, 05:11:38 pm
Hey GW, I'm a long time lurker and a RM2K/RM95 vet who survived the fall of more than one community! Glad to see GW is still alive and kicking. I made this account when RM2K3 first came out, yet never did anything with it; well, now I am! I'll be seeing y'all around the forums.

Peace!

So, tell us more about yourself.

Well, I frequented RM2KLibrary after the turn of the century and when I wasn't there I was lurking about GamingW. When RM2KL went down, I hopped on over to RPGDesign for it's lifespan and continued there until it also went the way of the Dodo. At this point I made a move away from lurkerdom and created a GamingW account, however due to declining interest and what seemed at the time a dwindling community, nothing ever came of it. Flash 5 years into the future and I came back to see GamingW6 had made some progress, the forums lively, a bunch of familiar faces and an actual influx of RM(2K,VX,XP,etc.) games abound!

Inspired by nostalgia and pure stubbornness, I started a project with another vet/friend of the RM2K era and we plan to show what we're made of in the days to come.

That's basically my story as it pertains to GamingW. And if anyone somehow guesses my old handle, (mods witheld) they get a cookie.

Welcome! So, what else are you into besides RPG Maker?

Welcome! So, what else are you into besides RPG Maker?

I never understand why people ask this all the time or even why it's in the rules. As I see it, the new members who come here come through google or something because they were most likely searching for "rm2k3 something". And behold, they find GAMING WORLD and the first thing they would think would be, "alright! some people to talk to rpgmaker about!!"

Then they make a post and immediately "tell us OTHER interests then rpgmaker"  :fogethuh: I'm not saying it's not bad to ask, but its not SOCIAL HOBBIES CHAT WORLD. If people really wanted to let you know their favorite rock band or movie, they'd say so. Most people I made friends here, I didnt because they wrote "I like naruto". I did overtime, maybe in the g&d forum, or in rmsuport forum, by observing their posts, habits etc and suddenly before you know it, we're friends.

So yeah, sorry for the rant  :fogetbackflip:

Welcome to GAMING WORLD TMAC! Have fun and stuff! I'd say come to rmsupport if you need help, but you're already a vet so....

Thanks Feldschlact!

What I'm into...Hmm...mostly any genre of video game aside from hardcore simulations and sports. RPG, FPS and 3rd Person Adventure are probably my Top 3. I would say Point and Click Adventures as well but they're not around anymore. =\ Used to play some MMO's but none at the moment.

Aside from video games I like classic rock, reading, female anatomy, summoning demons, lifting, drinking and all the typical stuff a male in their 20's might like.

Hahaha, also if you went by Mog I think I might remember when you first joined up, even though I was just lurking.  :hmm:

Heh, no worries about your rant. Plus disclosing some other stuff doesn't really bother me. As for RMSupport, just because I've been fooling with RM2K since it's inception doesn't mean I'm infallible, especially in the annals of coding, so I might be stopping by anyway. I'll definitely be hanging around G&D/GI&D forums. =D

its because people cant talk to someone they dont know anything about. no one who actually posts cares about rpgmaker anymore, and therefore are not going to talk about that.

WELCOME GL WITH RPGMAKER I DONT USE IT BECAUSE ITS DUMB BUT GL ANYWAY kind of gets old.

Welcome to GW.

Inspired by nostalgia and pure stubbornness, I started a project with another vet/friend of the RM2K era and we plan to show what we're made of in the days to come.

Well, good luck/patience with that. (No really, I mean it.)
I hope I get to see your progress and I hope it works out for you guys.

Aside from video games I like classic rock, reading, female anatomy, summoning demons, lifting, drinking and all the typical stuff a male in their 20's might like.

I like you already.

I never understand why people ask this all the time or even why it's in the rules.
Because we like to be able to construct some image of members other than HEY LOOK IT IS RM2KUSER234213421. I like to be able to say "hey look it is Medieve, he likes art and generally appears to be a nice guy" or "hey its Ryan, he's a liberal, likes politics, and has similar musical tastes to me" I know the G&D crowd doesn't care anything about that and just thinks "hey that is some guy who made x game" so if you want to alienate more than half of active posters on GW and never speak to anyone outside G&D or never visit GW for any other reason than to get feedback about your rm2k game, then that's great, those people don't have to tell us anything about themselves and that will immediately clue me in to the fact that I do not want to get to know them and that I hope they leave quickly because they will not likely contribute anything to these forums.

That a good enough reason for it to be in the rules, Aten?

Nope. They'd be my initials, simple as that. =P

While Macalpine is a badass guitarist, I never heavily listened to his stuff. I am slowly learning to like more and more Power Metal\Progressive type stuff though.

Edit: I guess I should mention I watch a lot of movies and like some anime!
