Well at my school we have certain computers on that HIGH CONTRAST setting for people who can't see good (or something) so it's always all black instead of white like that
Or the monitor might be broken and it's showing a photonegative lol
Edit: Should've looted during Earth Hour :naughty:
-
oh damn its 8:43, i guess 17 minutes is better than nothing
-
I did not do this. I had an assignment to do.
Also I don't really care that much and I like my lights.
-
This is pretty cool but doesn't apply to Quebec as our electricity system is fully powered by hydroelectricity, which means no carbon emission and it's completely natural and safe.
Fuck yeah.
-
This isn't so exciting. I turn off lights all the time.
-
My lights are never turned on and I use a flashlight to navigate in the dark, I don't know why but it's just more interesting this way
-
It's all around the world, not just North America...
I turned mine off at 8:15-ish and I was at work, so the security lights were still on. funnn stuff!!
-
Oh god, I had notice of this and I didn't remember! ;-;

Fuck yeah.
Actually, hydroelectricity is not COMPLETELY NATURAL. Although it's better than fossil fuels, hydroelectic power can cause natural seasonal changes in the river, and ecosystems to be destroyed.
-
I didn't do this because I don't give a shit.

who cares about the poor little fishies
i for one prefer dead fishies over dead humans
but that's just me
but seriously i don't care about dead fish at all :(. i'm a terrible human being but i just don't care about ecosystems not affecting me.
-
I was playing on the computer while listening to music, my girlfriend was watching television, my nephew was playing Call of Duty, and the kids were doing.. well.. whatever a 7 and 9 year old boys do in their bedroom with... jelly beans... and... coloring books....
Yeah, I dont give a shit... I'll just pay the electricity bill and call it even...

the point of it being an ecosystem is the fact that quite a few creatures rely on it and that it's an entire system that CAN INCLUDE YOU.
also no humans are going to die from turning off your lights for a fucking hour, what a dumb post.

Just in regards to electricity options in general...
What do you guys think is a worse effect though: flooding a couple thousand acres of wilderness, pumping shit into the atmosphere, or creating unrelenting amounts of nuclear waste?
I vote for forcing the raccoons to relocate.

What I did, just to be a jackass to my neighbors who made a big deal of it, Turned on ALL the elctrical equiptment in the house all night. and got an electric blanket instead of a normal one that night. they were so outraged that they flipped me off from there windows. And I flipped them off back by setting up 10 strobe lights around my house and called some friends over for a party. Not many people my age can get away with this XD of course my parents are away for the week. bwahaha

That's not funny, Achiro, it's just stupid.
I live an incredibly green lifestyle and conserve power pretty righteously, so I was a little insulted by the idea that I should have to turn off my lights for an hour or face scrutiny from my neighbours for some reason. My family did it anyways and bonded for the next hour and a half (which is probably the point?) but it's pretty stupid the solution some people come up with. Simply turning off a light when you leave the room for a day can save more power then turning off all your lights (we turned off two lights, which were the only lights on in our house at the time) for an hour ONCE A YEAR.
Green education should be hammered into students in school. Recycling is easy (at least in most cities), and so is basic power conservation. Compost is also easy. I've heard people say "oh wah wah I can't compost because it smells" but that is just nonsense. We keep compost in our house (until the bin is full then we move it to the composter) and unless someone dumps it on the counter it doesn't smell AT ALL. But no, instead let's turn off power for one hour a year! That will save the environment!

hydroelectric dams dont generate nearly the amount of energy we need.
also achiro is a good fake poster.
also TURN OFF YOUR LIGHTS *does it*
*uses internet and computer and monitor, pats self on back for conserving energy*
