Hi.

I uploaded a speedrun for you all to watch because it's amazing. It's seriously one of the best speedruns I've ever seen. Metal Gear Solid 2 is beaten by Takeshi, a Japanese player, in 1:52, on extreme difficulty, without ever taking damage, saving, or killing an enemy.
A speedrun is a recording of a video game played as quickly as possible. They're made mostly for entertainment or competition purposes.

Didn't you speedrun Megaman and Quake? Also, I'll watch this later when I get more time.
-
Wow, that is crazy. Someone has alot of time to get that good at the game. It seems like he even runs into a couple guards and nothing happens. weird.

Yeah. I made a pretty good video of Mega Man (beating it using special tricks that can only be performed when playing it on an emulator, but without cheating) but nothing this good. This speedrun is really amazing, also because of how he's able to keep his cool and not make a single serious mistake despite the game being two hours long.

It might seem like that because he's not using the radar, so you can't see their sight range. They're actually looking into the other direction for a split second when he does that. He knows exactly when that happens.
-
why does he spend so much time spraying in part 13?
edit: oh ok i get it
why does that work tho?
-
Fake.

No, but seriously, it shows how outdated the whole sightview system was in Mgs2. Don't get me wrong, I loved that game to death. But it really does open your eyes to how simple it was to 'exploit' the cone.
-

I'm actually not sure. It seems as though spraying them for a long time causes them to not be able to see you, since his alert level goes to 0 at some point.

Wasn't that the point? Well, to a lot of people it wasn't, since all they did was peer at their radar while playing, but it's fun to find out exactly how to do without it. I don't get why you'd call it dated since it's just a gameplay mechanic rather than any sort of technical limitation.
-
adfff why in gods name isn't this in a youtube playlist.

I know, I'm bad with words and thats not really what I meant, but it's just kinda funny wathcing him run right beside a guard and basically touching him and they have no clue he's there, if you know what I mean.
And I agree. After beating it the first time, I turned the radar off and must have played the game 5 more times on various difficulties just to see how I could mess with the guards and try different tactics and routes to get through the game.

It is?

EDIT: oh, I see, I used the wrong link in the opening post.

it's kind of cool to see metal gear in japanese and junk but it's frustrating because like 80% of it is FADE IN FADE OUT lol we've managed to avoid drowning
-
i never got past 5:45 in the first video but everyone is talking about how it is the biggest VIDEO GAME JOKE of all time in that other topic so i think i want to play it again.

I swear I already saw this up somewhere on YouTube...
This is more organized, I guess.

The coolant blinds enemies and temporarily stuns them when you spray it in their eyes. He's spraying the coolant so Snake can shoot them. Also, not a lot people knew this but the wacky codec messages you got were based on how many people you killed. The scene at the end where you were surrounded in the heart of Arsenal was on a timer. The game would progress regardless if you killed the badguys or not. He sprayed the enemies until the timer ran out.
And Snake has such a cooler Japanese voice than the American one. He's got that SUPER DEEP voice that you hear from all the stereotypical movie yakuza bosses and shoguns.

I agree, the guy who does the english voice for snake is a great actor, but the japanese one still tops it. Just got that gritty badass-ness to it. I played the demo version of MGS2 to death, and was quite disappointed by the switch to english snake when I bought the US retail version, besides the fact that the demo was the best part of the full game...

Davd Hayter. I think he wrote the screenplay for Xmen 2 aswell or some shit
This is probably one of those things I'll watch when I have some free time. I love watching speed runs, but usually i watch old games that I never completed, just so I can see the whole game quickly. I completed MGS2 so I'm not AS interested to watch this.
-
Hey, Dada, I like how your youtube name is your first initial and last name, but backwards. I really like this speedrun, it amazes me like all others, but it's one of the best I've seen. Where can I download your own speedruns?

Wrote X-Men's screenplay, co-wrote X-Men 2's story with Zak Penn and Bryan Singer and its screenplay with Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. He submitted a script for the Metal Gear Solid film, but it was passed.

heh....metal gear solid 2 in 1:52. I bet 1:50 of that is just cutscenes and fmvs.
When I first saw this topic, It immediatley occured to me that I could watch this and get the full MGS2 experience within the movie-theater timeframe it was truly meant for.
I'm going to go pop some popcorn before I check it out.

Nope! All of the optional stuff is skipped. This is just gameplay.
