After a cursory search of topics I was surprised to see no mention of Venture Bros.! Basically it's a hilariously badass cartoon that follows the wacky adventures of a pill-popping neurotic SUPER-scientist, his two reject sons and their secret agent bodyguard. Setup sound familiar to anyone? Well if it does, that's because it parodies and pays homage to old school pulp-comics, mystery and adventure cartoons like Johnny Quest, Tin-Tin and Scooby Doo.

It's one of those really tongue in cheek comedic cartoons with allusions, pop references and constant satire of the adventure/comic book genre. It's really well done IMO and has continuing story arcs, great characters and actual continuity. I'd recommend it to those who like action/adventure cartoons, have a weird sense of humor, or both.

Check Cartoon Network, Teletoon or Bravo for airings and Season 1 and 2 are on DVD. (Plus youtube and those other places)

Best. Adult Swim. cartoon. EVER.

This show is great on so many levels. The writing is well done, as is the voice casting. The humor is pretty fantastic too. The Monarch is probably the best character on the show. I highly reccomend this, as right now its my favorite show.

P.S. They showed an episode from Season 3 a little while ago I think, but it was underdone.

I think it starts in June from what I remember thats what the adult swim commercial. Season 1 and 2 are so epic, it's one of my favourite shows.

Awesome! Other people that think Venture Bros. rocks! As far as I know Aztec is right. Season 3 premieres June 1st and I can't wait. The episode they showed during the April Fools nonsense was a rough cut from Season 3 so I don't know how well it reflects the finished product.

For someone like me who detests anything adult swim, this has got to be one of the best shows they've ever produced. I don't think even The Tick's villains could hold a candle to those of The Venture Bros.

The Venture Bros. was the most hilarious show I've seen in a long while, hell it beats South Park anyday. (hell anything beats that...) one of my favorite scenes was when Brock got pissed off at the Monarch's minions for running him over with the truck, and then he gets his revenge by runnin' them all over with the car, hilarious scene!! XD

One of my favorite scenes from Season 2 was when Henchman 21 and 24 are getting ready to leave in Henchman 21's car and they start beatboxing/humming dramatic adventure music.  :laugh:

Man, the thing about ATHF and Sealab is that they can be so inconsistent sometimes.  Like, there are episodes that are fucking hysterical the entire time, but at the same time you can watch one and it just won't be that hot.  Venture Brothers is consistently funny pretty much all the time.  I've never seen Frisky Dingo but it never seemed that hot, maybe I should check it out!

Also I think Home Movies might be better but no one talks about that anymore.  They didn't even talk about it when it was airing.

Aqua Teen was good when it started but its pretty much random, useless humor now. Sealab always usually sucked with seldom good episodes.

Frisky Dingo...yeah, I can see what you mean, but not really BLOWS TO PIECES per se, its just as good.

Ugh why do you like Frisky Dingo more than Venture Bros? I hate the characters in Frisky Dingo and I can't even sit through an episode without randomly getting up and messing with the computer during it or something else. I just set up a Season Pass for this season of VBVaginal Barrel.

Whaaaat, Frisky Dingo is awesome though man. ESPECIALLY some of the characters. Granted some of them can be pretty annoying like Simon, but I think I just have a pretty dry sense of humour that fits in with it. I always thought that the VB episodes dragged on a little bit and weren't always too funny.

The later episodes of Sealab were poor for the most part, in no small part due to the passing of the voice actor Harry Goz ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0333100/ ). After that, they put in some poor replacement character, and the show was never the same.

ATHF has deteriorated too, but for reasons that I'm not really aware.

i seriously love frisky dingo but the comparison isn't too apt and it's a show that requires a commitment since the first two eps are so throwaway but necessary.

basically there are four good shows on adultswim and that's this one, frisky dingo, metalocalypse, and tim and eric. aqua teen has become more hit and miss than tim and eric (a show DEVOTED to that aesthetic so daaamn). the rest are off the air or fucking assy mcgee who cares.

a pretty good first ep, kind of liked how the actual Venture family wasn't in it. the COUNCIL or whatever got a bit hokey at parts and I don't care for the moppets!

It was nice to get some back story on them. But after the episode I thought that maybe the people who voiced Dr. Venture and Brock and them quit or something, because you couldn't hear Brock talk to the moppet, and the intro was mainly Monarch related stuff. I knew they wouldn't have Hank and Dean running from season 1 intro or the Dr. Ventures from season 2 intro, but they kind of rehauled the whole intro with Monarch stuff. I saw the season 3 commercial after that though and it had everyone in it.

Venture bros is my favorite cartoon I think. It sucks though, I can only watch it on teletoon, and they'll prolly buy the season 3 episodes like, next year. Ill have to torrent em I guess!

Until then I just hope to dodge all the spoilers!

heh heh adult swim shows:
I really like Metalocalypse. I never watched a full episode of Tim and Eric because Teletoon didn't buy that show yet (they eventually buy ALL adult swim shows pretty much so its prolly just a matter of time), but I did like the few clips I saw on youtube a lot.
As for Aqua Teen Hunger Force, I think I like one episode out of four that I watch. thats way too much MISS for its number of HITs in my opinion, but the hits can be pretty funny. Frisky dingo, I really like. Its sort of like ATHF in its humor genre, but all episodes get to be funny instead of just a few of them, and its a little less absurd, though it still is.
I remember watching a few episodes of Squidbillies, I think I liked that, but I don't remember em clearly so it prolly wasn't GREAT.
Before the venture bros, my favorite Adult Swim show was Harvey Birdman, but that show is dead now I think. I remember laughing and gasping for air watching that show.

teletoon is a canadian network that airs adult swim shit i imagine, and yeah like the others said, you can probably just watch them on adultswim.com unless they block ip addresses outside the country like hulu!

Yeah, they block ip addresses from outside the US on that site. Teletoon is pretty much the canadian equivalent of Cartoon Network. Pretty similar, with its own late-night segment. The only difference is that they have very few original cartoons in comparison, and the humor style there instead of being humorous, cynical and colorful, they try to be edgy and grunge, which comes off as forced.

Like, the original shows they make try very hard to be "offensive" (heh because its for adults...), and are unfunny.
They make some pretty horrible shit. Like Tripping the rift. I hate that cartoon so much. Every time I mention it I feel the urge to go on a rant of how awful it is. It has the worst comedic timing, and its always the same jokes over and over being vulgar just for the sake of being vulgar.  Heh there is an effeminate robot. heh heh *SNORT* look he said something that seemed to imply he is homosexual... so fresh...

I like how they unravelled Brock and fleshed him out more. He use to just be a bodyguard that was like a member of the family, but after I saw the episode where he almost killed Doc for getting that orb and the stuff he's done in the episodes after that, I like him a lot more.
