seriously if someone in the Troubadours submitted this version of Anywhere I Lay My Head, I'd be not only not surprised (it sounds awful as shit and poorly produced) but I'd probably cut it from an album, which I've never done for any album.

Seriously though, a fashionista actress doing a cover album of Tom Waits songs? So during the whole process of this album being concieved, rehearsed, recorded, produced, marketed and released, did absolutely no-one ever realise that this would be completely retarded?

yeah i think we were all sort of expecting it to suck.  buuuuuut she is mad fucking hot and isn't even a terrible actress (or at least, i liked her in like 3 or 4 movies) so i don't know, i was kind of hoping it wouldn't!


here's hoping zooey deschanel's album isn't awful.  putting out terrible music really kills the DAMN SHE'S HOT thing for me.

I could understand the singer from Portishead covering Tom Waits.. or Cat Power or something but definitely not someone like Scarlett Johannson

i actually think the production is really cool but that's just me I guess

like a more is less approach

oh never mind it gets worse

and it gets nice again


man the production isnt that bad at all, the only parts that made me wonder what was going on was when they introduced some string instrument (banjolike) and during the break...

im actually serious about this though

with the exception of what i mention i dont see how this qualifies at bad production at all... i find it quite interesting actually.

I like the parts where she isn't singing, she sounds so monotone and quite clearly hasn't got a nice tone to her voice

Is it just me or are her vocals way too low in the mix or this a stylist thing common in Tom Waits music (I've not really listened to much of his stuff)

And after hearing that, wow... just wow. Who told her this was a good idea? I doubt it was a Waits fan.

to be fair we has kind of a husky voice when she talks, so idk i sort of expected it to carry over to when she sings too!
