Man I remeber my first rpg for gba was Golden Sun...and I loved it..when Golden Sun 2 came out I went crazy.. I had to get that game! And now that its finally over... well I was wondering if there are any news on a new Golden Sun coming out...or anything related to Golden Sun!
Besides the ending was a cliffhanger so I tougth they were going to make a trilogy.
-
I think the closest thing to Golden Sun 3 out was some guy who made like a tech demo of it in Gamemaker or an advert or something a couple of years ago. Maybe Camelot will make Golden Sun 3 for the DS one day.
Oh man I forgot they made the old Shining Force games!
-
Eh, I despised 95% of the Golden Sun plot, but both games sure had some fine dungeons.
I did not think the ending was a cliffhanger at all, if I remember correctly. They pretty much all lived happily ever after. I don't think anything related to Alex merits a third game either, and I doubt they had any plans whatsoever on making this a trilogy. If they make a third, it will probably be with a completely new cast with events from the first two games being a "prequel - 30 years in the past" or some shit.
-
If they did make a 3rd, it'd probably be set 1000 years in the future and the descendants of all the main characters from the previous games will all be involved with each other. I didn't really care for the story, but I liked the battle system and the graphical style.
-
They did say that there would be a 3rd Golden Sun, but it has yet to come out.
-
This first one was ok, I could never get through the second one though.
-
Golden Sun was indeed pretty nice, who knows if another is on the way, but the past few recent interviews with Camelot have yielded info that they are interested in tackling the franchise again with almost a teasing attitude that one is possibly on the way. The last part being entirely speculative, but the team really seems to want to jump back into it.
-
I felt that some aspects of the game were lacking completion plotwise, but then again it's been awhile since I've last played it. Something with regard to Ivan bothered me.
At any rate, I was really miffed that they didn't come out with a 3rd. The gameplay was great, although I wish they'd dumb down the tank attacks so as to encourage the player to take a more strategic route with assembling the Djinn and battles.
-
yeah the dungeons were good, but there's really only so long pushing blocks around to solve puzzles can carry a game, and the battle system was average and the story and character development ranged from subpar to completely absent, so i stopped playing them after a while. i agree they did a better job of making the gameplay more than just random battles, though.
-
It was an alright RPG for GBA, but I thought the graphics were pretty shit. The battle system was kinda nifty though, as was using aquired abilities in out-of-combat situations. I got the second one because I thought it would add something new, not just be more of the same (which it is).

I love how basically Golden Sun 1 lets you explore 1/2 continents, and Golden Sun 2 comes around WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD.

Maybe Golden Sun 3 will have...THE UNIVERSE! XD

Guys, didn't Golden Sun 2 end with whatsisface finding the Golden Sun? Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, uh, that leaves a WHOLE LOT to happen in the next game, if it ever comes out.

If you're talking about Alex Mr. Boulder Man killed him if I recall correctly.

Yeah I remember there being a line or two at the end of Golden Sun 2 that implied that a sequel could come out. I can't remember at all what it was but I got the impression that there was more than meets the eye or something.
ANYWAY I'm not really sure why but I really loved the Golden Sun games. Yeah the story was shit and the graphics were kind of weird at times but for some reason the whole package just gave me this old-school RPG feel mixed with some more modern tricks and I don't know man I just liked the feel of the games.
Also the battle system was really fast despite being turn based which was certainly nice because I'm so tired of battle animations that last half an hour even if it's just a basic attack.
-
Also critting in those games was always freaking awesome. And yeah, the battle system worked really well despite the whole faux-3D thing they were trying to go for, which I sort of didn't like but I also liked at the same time. It was pretty ugly but it had a really nice feel, I dunno. It was cool.

otomon I really enjoy that all your topics have nothing backing them, no details etc.
anyway, Golden Sun was way ahead of it's time. It really pushed the power of the GBA. I never actually completed the first or second one, but from what I remember the game was extremely cheesy. the dialogue seemed like a five year old had written it, and even if the graphics were really innovative or whatever for GBA standards, they seemed really immature; like the character graphics fit well with the terrible dialogue, and it appealed to children but w/e.
one thing I liked was how everybody was connected to some element or whatever, and had the little things that cast spells accordingly. that was pretty neat I guess.

Most rpgs have this feature lol....just replace Djins with something else(example Personae in Persona 3)
