so the new death cab album got leaked -- it's officially coming out May 13th. I was hoping more for a new Postal Service album, but alas this came :(. But that's okay since I still like death cab (no matter how "gay" it is).
The new single, "I will Possess Your Heart" is a whopping 8 minutes long...I certainly wasn't expecting that, though Transatlanticism was also nearly 8 minutes. The first four minutes or so of the song are pretty much a waste... it's an alright bass line but it's almost bore the hell out of me. Thankfully, the song picks up again after that and is pretty good otherwise.
I haven't really finished listening to it yet (doing so now) but from what I've heard, Cath..., Long Division and Pity and Fear are the standout tracks on this album.
While I like their older style more, I like the new direction they're going in and the way they're trying not to recycle the same old material over again.
Actually I just finished listening to it once through, i'll need to listen to it more to form a stronger opinion, but other than a few standout tracks this album is kind of a dissapointment!
What do you guys think?

I have this an I think its ok. There are some really great songs that catch your attention straight away. I think the rest of the album will grow on me. It's not as immediate as the other albums.

I find "Your New Twin Sized Bed" to be one of the highlights. The fact that the album is so upbeat and the lyrics are the opposite is what does it for me. And the 4 minute intro in "I Will Possess Your Heart" is so good.

I haven't listened to it yet, but I thought "I Will Possess Your Heart" was terrible. Definitely not the height of his lyrical ability.

Yes, a new Postal Service album would rock.
I'll give this a listen...when it comes out in a few days. Too much of a hassle to find it then download.

Haha yeah, the lyrics are pretty fucking terrible, but it's also awfully catchy :(

Yeah it's crazily catchy. The really long intro is good the first few listens but gets kinda annoying when you wanna hear the actual song.
I want to hear this really really bad but I'm trying to hold off on downloading it. I'm definitely gonna buy it regardless so I might end up dling, but I'm gonna try not to at the moment.
Are there any good meaningful (as much as Death Cab can be) tracks on the CD?

Eh I would have preferred a new Postal Service album!! For some reason death cab's other album didn't really grow on me, despite that I constantly listen to Postal Service. Maybe I'll give it another chance... (someone should zoo this new album okay).

new Postal Service album plz
Oh man I used to like Postal Service a bit when I first got their album but it gets old really quick!
Anyway I'll definitely pick this album up when it's out. I'm a big fan of Death Cab and have been for a long time, and it's good to see they have a new album out. Hopefully it's a little bit better than their last last (Photo Album is my favorite).
