My activity here has been absent for one reason or another, but thats not to say i dissapeared. I am back bringing the goods on 2 new tales games, one being the sequal to one of my favorite Tales games "Tales of Symphonia" and another being a unique next gen Tales game of it's own called "Tales of Vespira". I am making this topic to honor both of these 2 games as they will be releasing soon this year.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
The much anticipaited sequal is finally coming here but this time on the wii system. Now most of you are probably going to have your "Gimmicky Alert Siren" turned on, but be content as it looks good and introduces lots of new features.
Screenshots:
Two new main characters are introduced in this game, sadly their names are currently uknown. If anyone knows them, please PM them to me and i will modify this post.

The battle system is faithful to previous Tales games but will possibly add in a couple of motion controls to the mix.
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2980/toskor67ua3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
It seems that Lloyd and the new protagonist have a rivalry in this game.
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/4626/toskor63jk9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Movement will oddly be done with pointing and clicking with the wiimote, but hopefully they will add a nunchuck use of movement.
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/7349/toskor70sr6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Not only will you use characters in battle, but you can also use monsters that you breed and take care of in a farm.
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/3578/toskor68in6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
In-game cutscenes also are improved. Unlike tales of the abyss, the characters have alot less clipping and distortion in movement.
There is little detail on this game, but more on the story should be revealed later this year. As far as I am informed the game takes 2 years after the events of tales of symphonia and the game will revolve around 2 new protagonists as well as the returning characters. What I REALLY want to know is that has lloyd turned to the dark side? Hopefully they will reveal more later this year.
Tales of Vespira[/size
This game is an Xbox 360 exclusive, which like the wii is a first in the Tales series. There is already an english trailer lingering around the internet meaning that this game will possibly come out before ToS2.
Screenshots:

The cel shaded graphics and lighting are eye candy to anime lovers.
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/152/tov32ts6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
The battle system is inspired by Tales of Innocence's battle system allowing you to move freely in battle.
(http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/9800/tov64mk1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
English diologue for the most part is decent.

The world map has improved textures, much better than previous titles.
Now, even though this game might come out before ToS2 there is even less details on this game. However, we can only hope that we can experience a great next gen Tales game.
Overall, it looks like Namco-Bandai is really pushing their limits with both of these games. I will update this topic whenever I get more info on both games, so stay tuned :)

so how many darkjaks out of five does this get
-
I loved Tales of Symphonia. Though oddly enough I didn't enjoy it for its story, but for the gameplay. Co-op fight sequences were so much fun, and it looks like Namco's bringing those back. :>
The graphics caught my eye in a positive and negative way. Positive being how they've managed to successfully translate the art style the game was associated with. It looks just like the concept art of Tales of Symphonia. The negative, however, is everything that's not a character model. I think that once you've seen one next gen JRPG's environments, you've seen them all.
-
Man, fuck wii and xbox, why not bring it to PS2??? :(
-
Because god hates you for not getting any of the more sensible consoles first?
...
I'm only interesting in the fighting system... as always. Stories... graphics... characters... they don't really matter much to me in a Tales game. Do these bring anything new to the table?
-
more mindless button mashing combat (so fun so fun...)

You're close but not quite right. With the amount of this garbage that comes out, I'd say it's more like once you've seen one JRPG, you've seen them all. Seriously, I think the last time I thought the Tales series was cool was back when Tales of Phantasia was just "that Japanese SNES RPG with the detailed graphics and cool battle system". They keep churning these things out and they are never more than the sum of their parts: bland, generic story, bland, generic anime characters, and horrid Japanese humour that DOES NOT translate to anyone who doesn't pretend they are Japanese. Unintentional boob grabs, pointing out the obvious in a given situation, and incredulous outbursts at being singled out aren't funny.
Mature, older group thinker (usually about 25 years old because that's old in anime years): "OK guys, now make sure you don't touch any treasure chests in these ruins. Bubbly Teenage Adventuring Chick in Skimpy Clothing, that means you!"
Bubbly Teenage Adventuring Chick in Skimpy Clothing: "WHY DO YOU ONLY MENTION ME????"
lol!!!
Ultimately, they seem to keep making them because they follow a successful formula. Make them long enough and use tried and true character designs and you'll have a winner, at least as much as the converted and those apt to conversion are concerned.
OK I'm done shitting on your topic.
-

ok, please stop. I understand you are joking but now its just annoying and makes you look like a wiseass and I don't mean in a good way.
Man, fuck wii and xbox, why not bring it to PS2??? :(
Well, why ps2?

That'd be absolutely true, and I'd jump on your bandwagon if I didn't consider the fact that not all JRPGs follow that formula. Though a majority of them DO rely on what's been used time and time again, some attempt to push the envelope and occasionally succeed in doing so. Like for instance, the Mario RPG series. Unique combat system in each game, brilliant writing and story-telling, definitive graphics for each title, so on and so forth.
-
i don't think citing an snes game that's almost fifteen years old should be an excuse for an entire genre! it'd be like me saying that modern cars don't suck and then pointing to the quality that went into the very first model Ts or some shit and going "heh... see??". how many of those games have you see, idk, this century?
-
I ment them all.
-
aight cool that brings the grand total up to 3 in the past two decades of rpgs w00t we're on a roll
-
All right, cool down.
True, I can't think of enough modern RPGs that attempt to push the envelope, but whatever few out there that do are usually enough for me not hate Japanese RPGs completely.
-
wait Mario RPG had "brilliant writing and storytelling"?
-
wait Mario RPG had "brilliant writing and storytelling"?
it was whitty but not brillient :/
-
I don't want you to think that I HATE ALL GAMES/RPGS THAT COME FROM JAPAN as some sort of blanket opinion. I just happen to think the vast majority of them are garbage. I like the Suikoden series quite a bit, and I've enjoyed several Final Fantasies, and these are certainly Japanese. Suikoden features some of the best scenario writing of any RPG series, and Final Fantasy, at the very least, usually represents the best technical ability of a given generation.
-

I wouldn't call it brilliant but it was definitely well written. None of the dialog in particular felt awkward and Mario miming every scene was great

I wanted to bring this up in the sleeper hit/overrated game topic or whatever topic Panda was bitching about Suikoden sucking in. I recently read the Suikoden III manga and it is somehow better than every Suikoden game and video game based manga put together. It's a really, really good read which kind of says something about the decline of the series itself.
Oh, and Tales got old years ago. It was kinda cool when it was the new kid on the block but they're just CHURNING this mess out. Symphonia was their least original game and now they're continuing the damn thing?
oh yeah tales of innocence and tales of pedophilia come out next month.
-
more mindless button mashing combat (so fun so fun...)
Hey. Micromanagement in Tales games can be fun.
-
fuck you marcus all i said was IDK WHY PEOPLE LOVE SUIKODEN because 3 is great but 4 is terrible, 5 is mediocre, and the other two are kind of unexceptional too. you seem to have this ridiculous perception that i just wander around complaining about everything when, if anything, i would say i spend most of my time making fun of things. this is especially funny because after long-winded arguments you usually wind up agreeing with me soooo
also is the suikoden 3 manga really worth reading? and i never beat the game so do i need to know all about that shit to understand it?

jeeeez, you're so hostile. i wasn't bitching ABOUT YOU BITCHING i was simply saying "i wanted to bring this up in the topic where panda was talking smack" because i'm too lazy to hotlink to it. as far as long winded arguments go, i just like taking opposite point of view otherwise the topics would degrade into "this game comes out in 2 months CANNOT WAIT!" i was even thinking about defending ToS by saying Lloyd and Genus are Namco's most well developed characters but everyone would have called shenanigans quick.
and yes, the suikoden 3 manga is pretty good. it follows the series canon and mirrors the game but it begins to differ midway through. it was originally marketed as dumb shounen stuff but Aki got fed up with the fanservice wish fulfillment and started making it more political around volume 4.
-
oh so wait, it's just suikoden 3 in manga form? that's great because i never got to finish it and i'd like to go through the story but i don't want to play through all of suikoden 3 again and now it seems like i don't have to! th.... thank you...
-
It's pretty much agreed amongst the Suikoden fanbase (and even non-suikoden fans like myself) that the manga was better than the game at the story telling aspects. Characters like Jimba and Geddoe weren't super lame and even though there were still a lot of characters it somehow managed to make them all well developed without relying on huge walls of text and unneeded flashbacks (my biggest pet peeve of manga). Overall, there was a lot more detail and yeah, it was just good.
-
oh yeah, on topic post:
ToS2 is apparently going to have a similar battle system of Tales of the Abyss which I think was criminally ignored and is the best of the current Tales games (which isn't saying much but any improvement is better than none).
On the same vein as ToS, it would be nice if they finished the last 4 episodes of the OVA. The current OVA ended midway through the game and I really don't want to play all 90+ hours of ToS. More games should be summed up in 4 episodes because they're cheaper and you can invite your friends over to throw popcorn at the tv.
-
I liked the first Tales of Symphonia probably more than I should have. The story was absolute garbage, the environments were mostly generic, and the battles were exhaustingly repetitious. However, I did have enough fun to play through the game twice. This probably happened due to the fact that I hadn't played a proper jRPG in well over 4 years.
-
We need more jrpgs in ps2. Now I recon wii and xbox 360 are fine-ass consoles but in my personal experience I had the most fun with jrpgs in the PlayStation 2 console.
-
Already looking forward to ToS: DotNW, though it will be kind of funky what with the game not having a traditional world map. I actually kind of enjoyed ToS for its story so I'm looking forward to checking out how everything has come along since the finale to the first game. Vesperia, I really want to try though, aside from the overworld portions (which look kind of sketchy) the game looks insane. Actually, the way the characters stand out from the environment remind me of that one XBOX jRPG that was cancelled, True Live World or something like that I think it was called.
-
I'm debating on weather or not to get Symphonia 2, I loved the first one though.

if you're talking about that lame mmorpg that got axed, i think it was true fantasy live online. or maybe phantasy, i don't remember.

Would somebody like to explain what Tales of Symphonia is?

Yeah man, I think it was true fantasy live online. Was that for Xbox or 360, I seriously can't remember.
-
well, it wasn't the 360! that shit was like six years ago, man. it got canceled before wow even came out, i think.
-
okay, so what's so special about this game? it's battle system looks just like grandia 2, and a lot of other games. and it just looks like generic jap rpg 1,205,423.

Yeah, Tales of the Abyss is actually pretty good, in my opinion. I was sure it'd suck and I didn't want to touch it but Sarah recommended it to me so I decided to torrent it and I actually liked it, though I still haven't beaten it. Despite being a bit anime, I think Tales of the Abyss has a good and interesting cast and the story isn't too bad either, though the game is way too long, takes like 60-70 hours to beat when they could have made it 20-30 hours shorter by cutting some unnecessary parts. Another thing which bothered me was how Abyss seems to have pretty low production values. For example, when there's supposed to be a war going on, nothing really indicates that except one short anime cutscene. I think Tales of Eternia and Tales of the Abyss are the best and the only worthwhile games in the series. Yes, Tales of Symphonia sucks. I can't understand how anyone can even like it. The characters are so boring, it's full of predictable twists and the story generally sucks, battle system is the worst in the Tales series and nothing really stands out. The graphics were pretty cool when it came out but some of the locations are so ugly and the design just sucks. There was this complete lack of any atmosphere and ugh, it was just so lame. I enjoy many traditional or maybe even generic JRPGs but Tales of Symphonia was just bad.
-
Tales of the Abyss has shit voice acting and a lame soundtrack, but it makes up for it in story and gameplay. If anything, Destiny and Eternia are the only good Tales games. I dont see how Symphonia was good at all, it was a standard jRPG and it got annoying with angels and magic and two worlds and shit AUGHH
Either way, I think ToS2 is gonna do good for reviewers cause there arent many RPGs on the Wii so they will automatically admit its good (like they did for ToS!) I just wish they would spend more time on a Tales game and not make them like fucking Atelier Iris and Ar Tornelico where they are just carbon copies of the originals.
-
The version I downloaded actually had japanese voice acting so I have no clue what the English voice acting is like so can't comment on that. The soundtrack was pretty good though, in my opinion. Not the best soundtrack ever and it wasn't very unique but it might have been the best Tales of soundtrack.
-

You liked Destiny? Meh. Eternia was the only title that counted as a legitimately good game for me... though the manga, anime, and mmorpg spinoff killed made me die a little inside for ever having liked it. The whole Inferia/ Celestia thing is still pretty dope though. You know... how no matter where you go, when you look up, you are able to see the other world looking down on you.

there were STILL a couple of RPGs on the cube when it released like "Baten Kaitos". I also agree that destiny is awesome but abyss and eternia blew that one away. However the ToD remake DOES look awesome, hopfully the cheeky bastards will release it here >:Ι
-
Not everyone lives off of daddys money  . And the PS2 still has life in it, and since its not completely gone yet, I don't see why they can't still makes games for it.
Hells yeah Persona 4 coming out on December...PS2 for life!!!
-

I dunno if it BLEW IT AWAY, per se. Destiny till this day is my favorite Tales game, and imo one of the best RPGs out there. The dialogue was very realistic, all the characters were likeable and I like how the game took a cliche and molded it so well. It also had the best soundtrack imo, and kept the japanese vocals. The remake looks excellent, but like you said we shouldnt hold our breath because I doubt its coming anytime soon. Too bad the sequel fucking sucked =(
TotA's characters are TOO JAP ANIME, if you know what I mean. I hated Luke until near the end (his char development was good) but the ending was so fucking bad, as was that lame final boss fight.
But the real reason I dont like Abyss that much was fucking Mieu. Idc what kind of CBS or 100+ gameplay you have, thats enough gay to ruin any game.
Oh yeah, I think ToV may be good though! Just as long as its Wolf Team and not Namco trying at another attempt to develop a Tales game.
-
I enjoyed Tales of Symphonia, I'll definitely be looking forward to this. I wonder what kind of a sequel this will be...
-
Not everyone lives off of daddys money  . And the PS2 still has life in it, and since its not completely gone yet, I don't see why they can't still makes games for it.
I would have been seriously disappointed if either of these games had come out on the PS2, in fact I don't get why Persona 4 is coming out on PS2 when there are newer more powerful systems out there that would allow them to make a more detailed realisation of there ideas.
-
Then what is your excuse for not getting a 360 and/ or a Wii? Especially before a PS3?
Prices dude. Prices. I don't live in "moneyrika", where people have money to throw around.
Let's see
PS2: Selling Price: (atm) $300, affordable, games sold here
Xbox: Selling Price: (atm) $960 fuck that, games sold: no
Wii: Selling Price: (atm) $675: games sold: 5 or 6
Xbox 360: Selling Price: (atm) not sold here
PS3: Selling Price: (atm) $1600, games sold: 5 or 6 last i checked
Im not even bother with the currency, because $1600 is $1600 no matter where you are, end of the day, that how much you spend.
-
holy shit dude what country do you live in o_o
ps2 is like 100usd
xbox is like 100usd
wii is like 250usd
xbox 360 is like 300usd
ps3 is like 350usd

Damn where you're at the regular Xbox still costs more than the Wii?... never mind then, you have good reason to still want games on the PS2. Hell if systems costed that much here then I'd probably want it to come out on the PS1 let alone the PS2. Matter of fact I think your PS2s cost around what I paid for my XBox 360 and PS3.
-
It's in Fiji dollars, that's why the price is so high.
-
yeah but 1 FJD is equal to about .65 USD WHY THE FUCK IS SHIT SO EXPENSIVE IN FIJI???
Seriously, how can any store make money selling a last gen console for 600 american dollerz?? This is ridiculous, I should take all of my old consoles to Fiji and make thousands!

lame soundtrack
????????????????????????
Apparently you didn't beat the game huh?
I think ToS2 is simply using TotA's engine with a few enhancements. Seriously, it looks completely similar. Not even only the combat. But hey, I'm not complaining. TotA's systems were pretty good.
-

ToS2's battle system is sorta a mix between Abyss' and Innocence's battle system, meaning air combos are more of a part of the game since you can use your Artes/Skills/Techs whatever they call'em in this game in the air.
By the way they already stated in a interview video on Gametrailers that you won't be using motion controls to attack.
-
So no motion controls = day 1 buy for me.

Man I love RPGs (especially generic lame ones!) but Tales Of games are in my opinion the worst thing that has ever come from Japan outside of zippers and the developer Idea Factory as a whole. But I don't know these screenshots are oddly compelling and I'm a little interested!
-

Yeah, that's the one... though I thought it looked kind of cool. ;_;
Anyway, just noticed. Fourth screenshot down on Symphonia 2 looks like the pier/dock area from Izoold in the first game, though I don't think you actually did any battling there. (well, I remember that if you followed a certain sidequest you might see Monster/Marble though I don't recall if you could actually fight her and even then you met her down by the shore, not on the pier) Anyway, I'm wondering that since the game lacks a proper a world map that battle ranges might extend beyond just passages between populated areas to some of those populated areas themselves.
Would be interesting anyway.

But what about the battle system? When the first one came out, it blew other jrpgs out of the water. The battle system alone is what made the Tales series great, not to mention the stellar graphics (for its time) of the first one. The Tales series pretty much went downhill though for me. Tales of Symphonia was the worst game of the series with its horrible voice acting and crappy 3D animations. Hopefully Tale of Symphonia 2 will be better. I haven't tried the PSP Tales games, I'll have to play them sometime.
-
Tales of Vesperia actually looks somewhat interesting. I seriously hope they work on the game's story. Phantasia and Symphonia (only tales games I own) both had horrible plots.
-
But what about the battle system? When the first one came out, it blew other jrpgs out of the water. The battle system alone is what made the Tales series great,
I disagree. Tales Of games have all the same mechanics of a typical turn-based RPG but reduce them to button-mashing games. You cannot explore the finer details of the battle system because either 1. it is too hectic and you can't really manage everything going on so you might as well just mash the attack button or or 2. magic spells and abilities break up the action instead of occuring in real time so you probably don't feel like using those either. If you do decide to use them you no longer have a sense of momentum when returning to the game field. Tales Of games always feel really loose and sloppy to me so I really don't get into their gameplay. Rather than the slow-paced and arguably boring but very strategic gameplay of something like a Dragon Quest or Shin Megami game, I get the same mechanics forced into a brawler with suspect collision detection, poor game response time, and floaty movement. This is not to mention that they are the least-inspired jRPGs out there in every other regard too (writing, aesthetics, etc). I read somewhere that one time the composer was forced to write an entire soundtrack in like 48 hours or something. With development cycles like that it's no wonder they are so bad! Like seriously the games play sort of like Dynasty Warriors or something and some people like that but I and the rest of America really really don't.
I haven't tried the PSP Tales games, I'll have to play them sometime.
I actually liked Radiant Mythology a lot and was convinced for a few hours that I might actually fall in love with a Tales Of game. However once it set in that the entire game structure was built around 5 or so missions that are literally repeated approximately 100 times each (I am seriously not kidding) my heart sank and I moved on. I guess the fanservice cameos are great for longtime fans but when the only thing discerning one character from another is his/her hairstyle and I hadn't loved the original games anyway I didn't really get into that either.
But I guess there are one or two Tales Of games I haven't given the time of day so maybe I should try them?
But yeah Tales of Vespiria looks really good and I can't wait to play it!
Also: Darkjak you have some formatting problems with your original post.

????????????????????????
Apparently you didn't beat the game huh?
?????????????????????????
Apparently I did champ!
I just didnt like it and it was overall a snore fest. Like there was this one airship theme that sounded like the fucking Magic School Bus march. And the second battle theme was just horrendous.
Dont get me wrong, there are some good tracks, but the bad overwhelms the good. "Meaning of Birth", "An Arrow Was Shot", and "Karma" were all pretty good in my eyes. Most of the stuff sounds like all Sakuraba/Tamura's other work, so why should I give praise to the same shit Ive heard for 4 games over?

there were STILL a couple of RPGs on the cube when it released like "Baten Kaitos". I also agree that destiny is awesome but abyss and eternia blew that one away. However the ToD remake DOES look awesome, hopfully the cheeky bastards will release it here >:Ι
Hate to break your hopes, but the chances of any of the 2D Tales of PS2 games actually making it here, is zero. I heard somewhere that Sony had some sort of anti-2D policy of some sort, but I don't think that's why they didn't come, because look at Disgaea and all the Nippon Ichi games coming over. Overall, I just don't think Namco thinks that it would be worth it to bring those games over. And we probably wouldn't even have gotten ToS or ToP over here, if it wasn't for Nintendo funding the translation. They did did bring over Legendia and Abyss though, but they were 3D and the PS2 port of ToS never came over, because they didn't want to retranslate the whole game, since Nintendo funded the ToS translation.

Not all ps2 games are in 3D. For example, there is a game called "Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis" and that was 2D. Not to mention other games on the PS2 like Arcana Heart.

Well, Tales of Eternia came here before both ToS and ToP i belive and it kicked ass :D. Also, I wouldnt count legendia as a "Fully 3D game". Granted, there was not a 2D sprite to be found in the game really however the game's view is practically overhead, the characters are chibi, and the battle system is 2D like phantasia's. Legendia was my first tales game and I have to say, I hated it. The main character is a complete asshole, the battle system sucked(worse than phantasia), and the random encounters are too frequent. Now random encounters should have just stayed dead in Eternia but they just HAAAD to bring it back. Basically, I thought this game was the low point of the series. Abyss was bought here due to one reason, fans would not shut up. Namco was more giving back then but now no matter how much begging, we will not get jack shit from them no matter how much we beg or cry about it. All of that fans not shutting up did make it worth while as Abyss was a breath of fresh air after the abysmal Legendia.
ok, rant over :)

Both of those games are by small time Japanese developers and localized by Atlus or NIS, the only two North American publishers who will touch games like these. There's no way a big developer/publisher like Namco is going to let Atlus or NIS handle their own game.

I haven't tried the PSP Tales games, I'll have to play them sometime.
they're terrible and have bad dungeons and lame controls. and also awful voice acting, characters, and story. soooo maybe that's not such a good idea.

Tales of the World is ok if our a big Tales fan. Eternia is a PS1 port and its excellent.

I saw Wiis selling down in countries around Mexico for over 500 American Dollars, and games selling for near 100. Prices change varying the country.
Tales of Symphonia 2 looks like it has potential, but I was really hoping for an upgraded Symphonia graphics game, not a new Abyss. I liked Abyss, but never really like the graphics.
Vespira looks great, I'm glad I got a 360 a while ago.

oh there's more than one? tales of the world is a really bad game buuuut if you're a tales fan then i guess you have no taste anyway so yeah it'd be right up your alley! i never played tales of eternia and didn't even know it existed, but knowing the series "excellent" by your standards would probably translate into "tolerable, maybe" by mine so i'll probably pass on that one!
-
okay, so what's so special about this game? it's battle system looks just like grandia 2, and a lot of other games. and it just looks like generic jap rpg 1,205,423.
It is.
Wait. What the fuck? Are you on meth? Or are you referring to the 'generic Jap rpg'?
Grandia II had an awesesome battle system, and I agree the TOS battle system is
awesome as well.
That said, they have *Nothing* in common. TOS has a freefight battle system, which means
there's no such thing as 'turns'
Grandia uses an Initiative Bar to decide who attacks next. It creates strategy, although
most of the times you don't need to use strategy.
Either way... I don't care what you say about TOS and TOS2, I loved the first one to
death, and I'm buying the second.

Tales of Eternia was the only Tales game besides Destiny that was good. Symphonia had the dumbest ass story line EVER, and Abyss drug on for too long.
Trust me though, Im not a huge Tales fan either but Eternia was the only one that Ive seen Tales haters actually enjoy.

The Tales games are slowly degenerating... Tales of Symphonia 2... I have mixed feelin's about that game, like c'mon... raising monsters? that's the first time they did that, and so late in the game too! ToV, looks interesting, but is it really worth buyin' an Xbox360 for one game? :S
My favorites were Destiny, Eternia, and Abyss, the rest I didn't like as much, (but you have to play the Destiny Remake, godliest game of all time.)

Amazingly, you'll find there are in fact OTHER games for the XBOX 360 too. I know it's hard to grasp.
There's even other shitty JRPGs if that's all you like.

The only other two games I like for Xbox360 is Halo3 and GTAIV. :P

As the only person who likes Symphonia I just gotta say this: EGGS!
Ok let's go in order shall we?
Phantasia: It's good but that's about it. The combat is constantly moving you back and forth every swing which get's on my nerves. Oh and the encounter rate is high and the puzzles are annoying with all the enemy encounters.
Destiny (Not the remake): Boy is this one boring. It also features party members that never fight. Your basically doing all the "hard work". But it doesn't matter because the game is crazy easy.
Eternia: It's decent and one of the more challenging game in the series. The combat is a little to slippery for my tastes, though. Not much else to say.
Symphonia: It had a great battle system, so good that i ignored the shit story. It also had some non-linearity in it and alot of features that made the second play through worth it.
Legendia: Good story, average combat. Actually the combat was basically like Phantasia's (just slower) but with no crappy semi-auto combat. But some boss battles last for way too long. Oh yeah, the second part of the game should not be touched until a year of beating the first part.
Abyss: Pretty good, had potential and it had it's moments. But the characters are so damn annoying and there's countless backtracking and lack of enemy variety. Not to mention you fight the same bosses over and over again. The last boss sucks too. And it was way too long.

I didn't want to take the console war bait but this doesn't jive with me. The 360 is a bit lacking in exclusives I like, as most of the best games are also on PC or PS3, but it is still a very attractive console to me. It's got the best RPGs for this generation so far (Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect both appeal to me) and some very strong action and shooting games. Again though, like four of the five games I'd be most interested in are also available on PS3 or PC.
-

the same could be said about every console in history because, you know, bad games outnumber good games on anything.
-
Yeah Id only grab a 360 for a couple of games but they would have to be damn good and exclusive to the console, cause I feel bad that I drop alot of money when a console comes out only to find the corresponding game released on like 3 other systems =\
Not saying the 360 is bad, just not many games appealing on it yet (but hey I baught a Wii so I cant talk.)
