So, I don't know how many of you have had AP exams this year, but that doesn't matter. For me, I had the AP U.S. Government one last Monday and I thought most of it was a breeze but I hated a few of the FRQs. Tomorrow, however, I have the AP English Language exam and I don't feel so hot about that one.
Does/did anyone else have any AP exams? Maybe some of you had the same ones as me.
Discuss them here. I doubt we'll get reprimanded by the AP coordinators! :fogetnah:

I'm taking the AP English Language exam tomorrow, too, and I feel pretty confident about it. Writing should be a breeze as long as you know what you are doing. The only essay I'm worried about is the synthesis essay, but even then, it's basically an argument essay with some sources thrown in.
And yeah, the whole "NO YOU CANNOT DISCUSS AP EXAMS" rule is basically violated by everyone the moment they finish their test and are out of sight from the proctors.
-
They administer the same exams on the same day. If you look on the tests it tells you the time it must be taken. I've only taken the AB Calc. test, but tomorrow I'll suffer through the English with you guys.
-
I took an ass of them in high school, they really arent that difficult with the exception of Chemistry and Physics.
-
finally done with them tomorrow
the way they want you to attribute sources in it is completely different in the ap language exam than on the ap us which is also completely different than the ap euro... which is annoying and also not very pleasing to think about as far as you know... having standardized shit on standardized exams
whatever though all you gotta do is say 'according to so and so "yadda yadda blah blah blah" (Source A).

I took AP Statistics last week and AP Psychology today. I didn't study for either of them and they both felt pretty easy so hopefully I did well!
-
I decided not to take the AP Calc AB test because calculus is ridiculously hard, but we took a practice test that was the multiple choice from 02 and the free response from 05 and I was one point away from a 5 so I kind of wish I had taken the real one. Although I heard the free response this year was a lot harder than the one we took in class. Either way I still think I could have gotten a 4 and definitely a 3.

I took the US History AP exam last Friday... and it was basically a four and half hour test. The multiple choice was easier than I expected, but they threw in some completely wierd ones as always. The DBQ was about Vietnam, and we had just studied that, so I had literally six different outside resources I used. The FRQs were slightly harder, but I felt that I covered the material fairly well. I am hoping for a 5, but I will probably get a 4.
-
oh highschool...
i took ap exams for english, US history, government, calculus, physics B, and physics C.
once you get to college you realize just how little those 5's and all that hard work matters. bummer
-
Be careful on AP Exams, guys. Some colleges aren't taking them anymore. Or they'll give you crap credits for them -- my university stopped taking them the year after I submit my scores to them. They want to make more money in some places, so you can only transfer community college credits.
And in any case, the Calc AB test is REALLY easy -- I think it's impossible to score less than a 3 on that. Especially with Calc BC. My biggest regret was that the BC exam was just the same as the AB the year I took it, and if I'd have taken the BC, I would've gotten credit for Calc II in college and saved myself some time. Go figure.
Needless to say, it's been like... 6 years since my last AP test. Good riddance.

I took IB exams instead of AP...
oh god I don't belong here!
-
Just finished Language today and I thought it was easy.
The passage about the mother and how writing was like being a snail was piss-easy. It was really odd though. Also, the FRQs were okay.
The synthesis was just stupid: come on now, if we should get rid of the penny? What kind of crap... And the argument one about schools was good too.
-
I've taken AB Calculus and just took AP Chemistry today. The free response on Calculus was really damn hard, and one of the questions I'm actually going to be sending a complaint to the College Board about because it covers material which falls under the BC Calculus curriculum. Chemistry though...wow. I had no idea what I was getting into. None of the practice tests were nearly as hard as chemistry. Chemistry also is an exercise in tedium because you get all the 75 multiple choice questions at once with no break in the middle like with Calculus.
yeah I took the chemistry one last year and it was pretty nuts. i think its considered the hardest of all the AP tests though if that's any comfort
-
Were you pro-penny, Fire Mage? I was.

I thought the Calc AB test was alright. Which question are you talking about?
Btw, our signatures legally mean jack shit before we are 18, so discuss discuss discuss!!!
I took the AP English Language test. Synthesis was pretty easy, although I thought it was a little dull. There wasn't really anything to talk about. The other two were fine. Sucks for my friends, who had to take the AP Art History test right afterward (they had to write a total of 12 or so essays including the APEL test).
I FUCKING HATED THE PHYSICS TEST. GAAAH. PHYSICS. CUT CUT CUT. M/C was fine but FREE RESPONSE ARRRGGGH.
(mechanics btw).
EDIT:
Anti-penny here. Did you use frigging source G?
-
I was anti-penny. I had no fucking clue what to do with the last source; I'm assuming it was supposed to be that the penny got remade all fancy-like or something?
But yeah I used Source A, B, and C. A and C were anti-penny, and I chose the section of Source B about the wasting time/money calculations.
P.S. Art History...you don't write 12 essays. You definitely just answer the questions. You don't have to write essays. It's the same way for AP Government. Except it appears they have 2 30-minute essays.
-
Huh. My debate partner lied to me then. She probably just didn't want me to call her again about the mock trial.
Anyways, yeahp. I used those sources, and a small part of the Press Release for the intro. Ah, our loveable POTUS...
I'm not too sure if that was a great idea. Although I definitely questioned the validity and importance of the new stupid coin backings, using sources for the other side generally yielded lower scores. (Class had reviewed and graded other students' essays).
I was also going to use the "-even the French!-" line from source...D? E? but I decided against it. It would be bad enough that my judges might be Bush-lubbers. But what if they were French? And we know how snooty these French can be in criticism.
What did you think about the M/C?
EDIT: Also, anyone else doing the American Identity speech?
-
.
-
Hm. They didn't teach you L'Hopital? Isn't it just taking the derivative of both the top and bottom of the expression, then plug/chugging?
I don't remember that FRQ, so I wouldn't know. That sounds more like a M/C question though.

it allows you to make the statement that another reason for getting rid of the penny is that its unconsitutional for violating the separation of church and state
but then you would have to go on to say that all the coins need revamped and that gets away from the point of the essay
I made it work though
-
Well. Now we know who's got a frigging 9 on their essay.
-
i wrote it as well. (english)
Though, it seems like I wrote different essays than you guys? I don't recall any stories about Synthesis... the first passage was the comparison between two poems both about death (painfully easy), the second was a technical analysis about some Arabic kid going to the beach with his host family in America, the third was an open question about character foils.
I took the exam in AP english in high school, we get the option at my school

That's definitely AP English Literature.
We were talking about AP English Language. Haha.
-
yeah,
I read the previous posts and saw Language.
Makes sense, lol.
