The real reason for making this topic was to find a fun game for my friends and I to play in school during the day. We've been playing Tanks for the last couple of days and it has become excruciatingly boring. The class that we all play in only has one computer so that really limits things and there are a minimum of 5 of us playing at a time. So I'm looking for a game that can be played on one computer with at least 5 people, that is also relatively simple. Any help would be appreciated.
Of course, making a topic just for myself would be rather self-centered, so just as a general question what do you play when you get bored at school or work?
-
I play tetris. But I guess ti doesn't work with groups..
Maybe a fighting game, Strret Fighter, and make it chang e the loser.
-
I take out my old psx and play old school rpg games. at the moment beating FF7 over and beating Grandia for the first time. I beat the 2nd one but never got a chance to beat the first.
fighting games are good for groups. Also DDR, Guitar Hero, Rock Band.

at school i play cave shmups
-
there was this very cool tron cycle game I used to play at school. Could have up to four players at once but I can't remember the name of it.
Boxhead 2 p is a good one though, or if you can download emulators Metalslug, snk/capcom fighting games.

Our school had pretty much everything blocked by the time I got in the last year... however there is www.spele.nl it has some fun games there was "stick" a flash game which was like Counter Strike in GTA2 style you were able to host and join games on theyre online server.
and GUNz, now this game you had to download but its superb

we played GBA at school with that Super Mario minigame, four players. You know the one with the black background, a couple monsters come out of pipes, and your job is to kill them and stay alive as long as possible...?
We called it Belly Boppers, since four fat plumbers were bopping each other out of the way with their bellies. That was one fun game, man. Hours of...Days of.... yeah, GBA was highschool.

Heroes of might and magic 2 or 3
worms armageddon/world party
-
At school we've been having Quake 3 Arena lan parties.
And I rule.
-
If I have my DS on me I might play that during breaks between classes, preferrably something I can jump in and out of quickly like Mario Kart or something.
-
5 people on one computer? You should just find something for 2 players and just cycle through each person depending on who wins or loses. With that criteria, you're not likely to find anything fun - assuming something like that exists. (Flash games?)
-
If you just use one computer, I recommend Worms. Armageddon or World Party, I think. The hotseat matches are exactly for your kind of set up.
This is exactly what I was going to suggest. It's perfect for your situation.
-
I was also going to say worms. Worms 2 will run on some pretty old systems, but if its newer then 10 years, it should be able to run the newer worms like Armageddon or World Party just fine. It's always a blast, and definitely at the top of my list when I think of games for multiple people on a single PC.

Get PSPs. Get Space Invaders Extreame. The driving controls are fucking AWESOME.

Its addictive as hell, this is the only game thats really got me hooked since CoD4.
-
We use to have Doom 2 turneys at my school,at first it was just me and one of my friends...but by the next week we had like 5 classes join in lol imagine having a lan game of 20 ppl? That owns...
-
you guys should read about his limitations.
-
You should play scrabble. Everyone likes scrabble and then you learn words to use in school.
-
Garou: Mark of the Wolves, DoDonPachi or Guitar Hero III is what I play when I get bored.

Tanks? Is that what I think it is? The old 2d game with stationary tanks and you had to input values for where and how strong to shoot and there was wind and different ammo?
God that game rocks.
Also this is gonna be dumb but considering your situation an obvious choice would be Worms 1 or 2...
Also a lot of people here are dumb and don't read the OP he's in need of ONE GAME FOR ONE COMPUTER THAT 5+ PEOPLE CAN PLAY
Anything turnbased actually is good that allows more players, that doesnt take too long (that eliminates heroes and civnet).
-
Im gonna go ahead and say what everyone else said and say, Worms Armageddon. That game is bad ass and it's alot of fun. Thats what me and my friends played via lan when I was in high school.
-
when i'm super, super bored i play this game called wolfteam (http://wolfteam.softnyx.net/). it is really bad and the people who play it are dumb and unbearable, but somehow i got really good and am basically one of the best people who plays it. this game is dumb as shit but whatever, let's play together.

It sounds like you are talking about Scorched Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorched_Earth_(computer_game))
Also, yeah, that's a great game.

actually the game that the article links to, Tank Wars, is the one I was thinking about but it seems it's pretty much the same thing...
that game is seriously badass I need to play it again
also chef post some screenshots I cant find any on the site. it looks like it might be just cheesy enough to be really fun.
-
Nthing Worms: Armageddon. I suggest downloading The Fiddler so you and your friends can make some horrible overpowered custom weapons.

i can't find any videos that don't have really awful music in them, so sorry, but these videos are pretty good in that they show both the fps part of the game and the werewolf part. the game's whole gimmick is that you can turn into a werewolf whenever you want. werewolves are stronger and faster than humans, can climb walls, and regenerate so there's really not much of a reason not to be a werewolf at all times. also i think my favorite thing about the game is that every time you kill someone, an announcer with a really ridiculous voice says "WOLF KILL - BABY WOLF - DOUBLE KILL - HEADSHOT - THE KING IS CAPTURED" and shit like that, and if you kill a bunch of people at once it can go on for a whole minute, which is hilarious.
-
There is a scorched earth remake called pocket tanks, you should try out that too.

You obviously didn't play unreal tournament huh?
Also if I remember correctly you can play little fighter 2 on one computer too.
-
no man you dont get it when he means ridiculous he means...ridiculous.
like UT announcer is BADASS ridiculous M-M-M-MMOOONSTERRR KILL is fucking awesome.
But in WT, it's like...HILARIOUS ridiculous.
Like earlier today I killed 5 people with a nade and the guy wouldn't shut up for like half a minute i was on the floor because his voice is just so....TERRIBLE. So bad it's good.
-

he doesn't just say one of those things though. he says all of them, and he can say more depending on how you kill the other person and how many you kill. it rules.
-
I'm going to give it a try then, sounds good.
-
man that music in the first one is really awful. i mean, i like ridiculous hardcore often (THIS IS HARDCORE / THIS IS HARDCORE MUSIC / HARDCORE / I'M COMING HARDCORE etc is cool) but even that is just too ridiculous :(
anyway yeah looks like an OK game
-
Skulltag. I play it much. I keep it on a USB and carry it everywhere.
