If you skip the fucking fillers that is oh god please skip the fucking fillers here's a list of which episodes are fillers now promise me you wont watch the fucking fillers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_One_Piece_episodes). Also watch a japanese, subbed versions because the translations butcher the show and turn it into horrible kiddy shite. From what I hear. Won't watch to find out.

It does fall under generic anime for me, because well, it is. There's some, uh, guys, and, uh, there's some bad guys and they fight a lot, how more generic do you want it. Thing with this show though, and why I love it, is that it spends much more time on the characters, and the characters are great and make sense. Everything that happens is character driven and it means everything that happens has so much more meaning than with most other animes. It has a much better sense of plot and purpose than most other animes.

But most of all it's just plain goddamn fun! All the fucking time! They don't even bother explaining things that are boring ("I can shoot fire from any part of my body because I ATE THE FIRE FRUIIIIT thats why").

Confession: I cried during Chopper's introduction arc.

The recent anime episodes are quite a treat for me, because this is the first time I won't know what is happening next since episode... I don't know, 85 or so?

I stopped reading too but not because I didn't enjoy it (in fact I think anime handled end of water 7 pretty poorly because it was dragged on for ages) but just for no particular reason and now the anime is further than I have read the manga so I'm pretty happy about it too. :D

I haven't watched the anime in half a year or so though, so I got some catching up to do.

CLEARLY IN THE MINORITY and i'm pretty positive you will love it but i thought this topic needed at least one person who was not an adult having an inexplicable fondness of a show designed for 12 year olds!

Its probably because along with the rar fighting and epic battles it actually manages to be funny, something that most animes just fail at, ie they try and introduce "comedy" characters which just end up pissing you off, like that AINTSU fuckhead in Bleach. But in OP moments like Robin grabbing Franky's balls at the end of water 7/EL or Luffy pushing that zombie back into the ground in TB are genuinely funny.

And the manga has got to a very interesting point as well, looks like it'll soon be entering another pivotal arc as epic as Enies Lobby was.

I actually started on the 4kids dub since I had no access to or knowledge of the original and I found it a chore to watch and hated the animation. However, about a year ago, I brought myself to attempt to watch the Japanese version and watched the first 25 episodes and quit. It was good, but that was it. However, summer rolled around and I resumed watching, getting all the way to the end of Water 7. I was addicted to it. I watched the remaining episodes every now and then up till 305, but I started watching weekly at 326 until 339, when I read the manga mostly. Last week, I caught back up but still need to watch 306-325. Overall, this is anime and the best one by far. :)

Yeah pretty much this. I was also first put off by the art style, but after I forced myself to watch a few eps because I had heard so much good about the series, I realized what an amazing show it was. It's definitely my favorite shounen series, and everyone who likes shounen series and hasn't watched this doesn't know what they're missing out! That being said, I haven't watched the anime for a few months, but I'm following the manga and it's quite great. I'll catch up with the anime soonish.

I work a lot, and then there's training, friends, family, cooking and chores to be done. After a long day of all that, her and me have found that watching Dexter, or a movie, for an hour is too heavy once you get tired... however, a few brief One Piece episodes of silly nonsense doubled with great fun is perfect for these kinds of evenings, or lazy weekend mornings. And you have to give it to the show, they have a way to keep things fresh, and to keep every character as lively as they should be!

Actually, I've watched all the way up to 340 previously, where Vegapunk's subs ran out of gusto. Since then, I introduced the show to her and we've been watching this up 'til 207 where the [KF] subs ended way back. Looming on the horizon though, is that we're soon gonna be at 340 and I have no idea which group to go for post-340, now that VP seems to have lost their pace.

Any suggestions?

Like Laboon. I don't think anyone would have expected him to be connected to Brook. That just came right out of nowhere, but it was a pleasant surprise.

This happened in EL as well, last crewfight was Zoro vs Kaku at 416, and they got out of there at 429-430 odd, not quite as long as TB but there they had to fight Oz AND Moria AND then Kuma. The Oz fight was great as well because its not often you get to see the SH's team up to take down a big enemy like that.

Its about halfway through Thriller Bark now, the fights start next episode with Sanji vs Absalom.

It was probably when I was still BIG on One Piece, 2003 or 2004. I still love the series to bits and get all giddy when I watch a new episode, but back then it was..... Magical.

I was comparing to the example the previous dude used; ie the last "nonmain" fight as it were. Obviously in both examples they still had Lucci/Moria left to deal with.

Look at the ones that it was lumped with... RAINBOW MIST or whatever... And USOPP AND HIS CRAZY FIREWORKS!

I didn't think that anything could possibly be worse than Apis, but haha.. Oh man.. At least I watched all of the Apis/Warship Island arc. I can't say the same for anything Post-Alabasta with the exception of Goat Island because it had some decent humour.

Rainbow Mist was bad as well, but I actually liked Usopp's filler. Goat Island just... had no action whatsoever, and seemed like it could be resolved in one episode, but it dragged for three.

Anyway I have a feeling Rayleigh will end up sacrificing himself for the SH's at some point during this arc, probably not here against Kizaru but later, since he is saying a lot about this being the new era of pirates and sees Roger in Luffy (an obvious parallel that keeps cropping up throughout the manga). I also get the feeling that this arc will probably take the SH's to marine HQ or maybe even Mariejoa to tie in with Ace's execution and the Whitebeard vs Shichibukai battle, it will also probably mark Vegapunk's debut as well since it revealed Sentoumaru is Vegapunk's bodyguard.

Seeing how good the latest chapter ended, hoping 514 doesn't go onto a different point of the story, showing other characters fighting and what not..though a confirmation on what happened to Kidd would be great.

I've heard speculation of a timeskip or where everyone is seperated for a while or something. That bit at the end was very ominous indeed, though.

It only gets better after this arc :).

Since the second half of thriller bark(when kuma shows up), chapter after chapter every week was just a hit and was always great to read. Now in the manga, something "new"(the haki stuff) has happened only it might not be new because there were hints of it throughout the series. At least we may get a possible explanation for it now.

yes. i was bummed after after thriller bark because i thought it was slowing down but then suddenly oda activated his hyperdriver and turned on the awesome. i can not wait for the fights to start.

EDIT: note HUGE SPOILER The shichibukai, every marine ever, and every pirate ever, is about to go to war, and Luffy just enter Impel Down, the most heavily guarded area in all of the Grand Line, pretty much alone... Oda sure picked one hell of a fucking time to go on a break.
