I'm studying for CompTia's A+ certification exam, i have hardware down pat but networking and fixing some of the windows operating system deeper and more complex components is a bit of a hard thing for me to grasp. i was hoping that some one would be able to either point me in the right direction, and yes i already wne to CompTia's website, or give me some tips for passing the A+ exam

There are only like a zillion (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=A%2B+certification&x=0&y=0) A+ certification books out there. Have you tried any of those?

yes but they are out of my price range, that and I learn best by interacting with and not reading about this stuff

Then go repair / install computers and printers.
Do that and you have basically every question on the test.
-
Also what complex components of fixing the OS? I never saw any questions beyond INSTALLING an basic windows functions.

When I took the test, it was some pretty standard stuff in the OS parts. If you feel uncomfortable downloading one of the many thousands of PDF's or guides, there's also many free sites to help you. Even one of those "Basics of Computing" books/sites could help you out, the more leaning toward MS operating systems the better.
Let me tell you now, learn the basics of printers. There were more questions about printers than there should be on that test.
