It's that time of year again. Schools are letting out and everyone is planning their summer vacations. So where are you going this year? Have you been there before or will it be your first time? Discuss your plans here.
As for me I'll be heading back to New York City for a week. I promised my brother I'd take him to a Yankees game before they tear down the stadium at the end of the season. Then I'm going to visit the Museum of Natural History, the Bronx Zoo, and go on a spending spree in Chinatown.
-
My original plan was to go to warped tour with my friends, but my grandpa is getting old. I'm going to South Korea on July 8th and Japan on August 7th(My birthday) and returning on the 13th.
I'm really excited, because I've been wanting to go for a while (too many white chicks...im in a white community), and considering I haven't been there since I immigrated to Canada 9 years ago. =3
Japan should be a fun experience too, except I really don't know what I'm going to do there.
-
I love the big cities, including Chicago, so hopefully I'll get to visit there again this summer. I'm not sure if it was emulating city life (RIDING THE TRANSITS EVERYWHERE) that I enjoyed the most, I guess it's just a nice contrast to suburban life here in OKLAHOMA. NYC would be awesome to visit as well, and what you have planned (especially the museums) seems really exciting. I know I really enjoyed the natural history museum in Chicago!
My definite plans are pretty much limited to work, and a few events going on locally, including attending Phantom of the Opera, some concerts, and a downtown music festival called D-Fest (Diversa fest).
-
Yeah, I just quit my job, so for the rest of the summer I am going to take 'er easy and eventually go to the zoo. I just haven't had a decent vacation since I started school five years ago, and I think this year I am going to just relax and try to get out more so I'm not as tired and isolated as I've felt for the past forever.
-
I'm going to basic training. should be fun. ya.

Later this week I will be going to NYC(hopefully) for a few days, then off to Baltimore and Washington D.C. After that, I will be going to Turkey on July 8-21. Once I am back from Turkey, I am taking a road trip to Florida for about a week or so. Busy, busy summer!
-
Wow, Turkey? That's interesting. What's down there?
After summer school I'm taking a (ugh) family trip up to northern California. We were supposed to be camping, but my stepmother is a whore so we got a cabin. Talk about lame. At any rate, apparently after I graduate next year, my dad's taking me to Canada. Pretty cool.
Also,
Atari
:(
-
Yeye, when you come to canada we can chill eh.
-
Nah, probably not. I have enough GW on my internetz as it is. Anything more than that is just asking for ocular herpes.
-
I wasn't being serious... >_>
-
It was pretty obvious. But I got to say OCULAR HERPES in a post WOOHOO.
K so back on topic, South Korea actually sounds pretty interesting. I hear mmo gaming is pretty widespread, like they even have cafes and stuff for it. What're you planning to do there?
-
i'm probably going to slack off for most of the summer and play guitar.
i don't have any trips planned yet but.. hopefully i'll manage to go somewhere this summer.

I'm not gonna go to internet cafes >_>
Fortunately I have my child hood friend there I'm gonna meet for the first time in 9 years, and a friend that I've known since grade 4 also going to korea as vacation in the same city, Seoul. Mostly that friend and me and my futernal twin brother are going to chill, go to karaoke and eat and stuff, but I have know idea what I'm gonna do with my child hood friend. I'm not even sure if we're even gonna meet, since he has school I think. I don't know when the summer break is over there, but he entered highschool and highschool in korea is tough as fuck :fogetsad:
And me and my mother are going to meet relatives and probably go visit some sites around korea.
Actually you know what? I might go to an internet cafe with the friend that's also coming.
It's gonna be a bit weird considering the mad cow disease thing going around, and korean beef is fucking amazing.
Hopefully I'll meet some celebrities (>_<) (Yoon Eun Hye, cmon) or some girls. Man I'm mainly goin for girls.
-
I'm doing plaster and paint work 8 hours a day 5 days a week on the college campus and it is boring as shit since only other work crew members live here during the summer.
-
I'll be swimming and relaxing all summer long. Summertime and the livin's easy.
-
Futernal?
Yeah I'll be chilling mostly, my family and I might go somewhere for a week or so, but otherwise I won't be doing much. But, that's the way I like it, so...! I've got some work to do over the summer, but I'm planning on reading a lot, as well as finishing some of my games that I haven't yet.
-
Wow, Turkey? That's interesting. What's down there?
I don't know if there is anything that makes it a whole lot better than anything else. I am going to Istanbul, which is really big, and also a city called Antalya, which is fairly big. I probably haven't mentioned this on the forums, but since January there has been an exchange student from Turkey living with me. He goes to school with me, or DID since we just graduated today. Yeah, he goes back on the 18th of June, and my mom and I will go visit him starting July 8th, and leave on the 21st their time. So, who knows what I will see there. There are supposedly a lot of historic things, and Istanbul has one of the world's largest malls. I guess I will also get to experience.....Turkey?
Also, Juris post a picture in the picture thread, please. I've always wondered what you look like!
-
Futernal?
Non-look alike.
It might be fraternal or some shit like that though :fogetshrug:
-
Non-look alike.
"Futernal" :gwa:
Yeah, it's actually fraternal.
-
Our family is going on a trip to Europe basically. Paris, Amsterdam and some other places that I didn't even pay attention to. Hopefully it will be fun.
-
Turkey is definitely a place that I want to visit sometime in the future. There is just so much history there, and it's easier to get into than comparable places like Syria or Iraq.
Well, over the summer I will probably be either working or reading pretty much the whole time. Although hopefully I don't end up working 60 hour weeks by July like I did last year. ( I work on an Ice Cream truck, it's quite fun but also mind numbing. ) Also, maybe I will start posting on this site occasionally.
-
I hope to be able to stay home from my family's beach vacation and also make it to the londonmeet in july
I may not be able to afford it however

did you get free ice cream
what i am saying is can you send me some ice cream
-
We actually have to pay for all the ice cream that we eat. There was an unfortunate incident with one of the other employees and ten missing chipwichs. After that, we have to more or less pay for everything. Plus it's all prepackaged stuff, most of it isn't all that great.

It's winter here...
I'm sorry to rain on this parade :(

so what you're telling me is that you are a failure
-
Yea, pretty much. But I do not think the ice cream truck business has to many years left in it, so, umm, buy your own ice cream.
-

I used to work in an ice cream factory and we used to get as much free ice cream as we could eat. One of the girls who worked there used to take 4 or 5 700ml containers home pretty much every time she worked.
Unfortunately the outlet was in cracktown so I had to constantly deal with crazy crazy crackheads, but otherwise A++!
I don't think I'm going anywhere this summer except up to my cottage (which is on Big Gull Lake in Ontario if by chance anyone has heard of it) a couple of times. That should be fun, but I think next year I am going to Europe which is going to be much better! :D
-
Leeds festival's on the cards
Other than that, just chilling and, hopefully, absolutely loads of parties.

Why do they give you free ice cream?
-
i will be working and camping as much as possible. but mostly working.
-
Why do they give you free ice cream?
They don't anymore, I used to work there. And they gave us free ice cream because they produced it in HUGE BATCHES and it costs very little to produce, and it was their way of thanking us for working for minimum wage.
-
Having access to that much ice cream must make ice cream eating a lot less fun than it usually is
-
What? Is it even possible to get sick of ice cream?
-
i once had like seven scoops of different baskin robbins it is very very possible.
-
Baskin Robbins especially is very easy to get sick of because it's so rich in flavour, it's one of the few after dinner desserts that I can't finish usually...
