Of course we all know I am with "bun in oven". My only problem is that I can't figure a boys name that I really like. (my husband and I are leaning more towards the muslim names of course since it's a muslim thing to do...) I want to know what you guys would suggest, all I get from some of the people I know are "think about it" or "just don't name it something stupid" or the most unhelpful "You'll figure it out when the baby comes..."
I honestly believe in being prepared to the roof as much as I can be. We don't know the sex but we do have a girls name all picked out specifically for family members that we have a affinity to.
SO the names you suggest don't have to be muslim but it can be from anywhere, but it would be pretty nice to have some constructive input.
-
My best mate is called Faris, pretty sure he's from a Muslim country too.
-
Omg PISCINE MOLOTOR PATEL AKA PI 3.14159... sorry about that.
I really can't think of anything that isn't too generic (Omar, Osama, etc.). And you really want to look at stuff that YOU liked as a kid growing up, so that the name would be special to you. When your kid grows up you don't want him to ask how you named him, and reply that you asked some twits on GW to help.
Are there any things that you would mind naming your kid after? A favorite place? Something religious?

The only appropriate names I know of are Muhammed, Issah, Fareed, and Rashid.

-
Heh I bet the guys in G&D would be able to come up with better names than these. ALEX FTW.
Actually, I like Alec. That's kind of cool.
-
Actually Faris is a really cool name go crumply.
just don't let him play FF5
(oh shit i ruined the name didn't I)
-
I have a Muslim guy living with me, his name is "Utku". His name is Turkish(I believe) for victory.
-
Couchfiend.
Name him Couchfiend.
For a serious name, Ziad sounds like a cool name. A quick google search tells me it means super abundance though.
-
I only know like one brown guy (white community) Aadil... Then he can put little stupid jokes like A dill pickle.
-
so did you convert?
this story can only get better!
-
Actually, I like Alec. That's kind of cool.
I was going to suggest this as a joke to be like NAME HIM AFTER ME!
And my first thought was that he used the name script but then, wait not premium...
NAME HIM AFTER ME!
-
Saddam
Allah
Muhammad
Merkin
-
Hillel
edit: wait, that's jew, but who cares about religion, y'know

I do not have any suggestions really, but I'm mildly curious about what you mean by Muslim name. I mean, do you mean a name thats specifically Islamic in connotation like Hasan or Muhammad or Ali, or something, or do you mean something, I don't know, non Western? I mean you could go all out with a Muslim Arabic name, but that might be a little silly depending on the situation.
-
so are you shiah or sunni because that can make a big impact on what would be a good name to choose
if you are a shii you might want to go with something bamf like Rostam or a persian name like Reza or Fahrmanoula or something
-
Let me suggest some of the names of males in my (Muslim) family: Rafay, Shayan, Nadeem, Sayed, Aziz, Sameer, Humza, Saarim, Zohad, Fahaad, Amaad, Saif, Noful, Jasim, and Zain. Don't think I missed any there.. I can probably pop out another 100 or so from more extended family if you'd like!

we would be able to help you pick the most perfect name if we knew the child's surname......
Aladdin
Aaryan
Aamir
-
either Aloysius or Thugglyfe
-
Unfortunately babynames.com doesn't have a Muslim option for name origin, but I don't think you'd find a better one than this:
Saddam
Allah
Muhammad
Merkin
Once again I fully agree, Merkin is one of my favorite names and a Muslim one to boot.
-
You know I have always wanted to have a kid named Oz. It's simple, easy to spell...
Oz (I know it's not arabic, but....)
Ishmael
Nemo
-
gj Velfarre I was thinking America would be a great name too. Either that or George W.
I hear Eric is a pretty agreeable name.
-
I like Stanley. Name him Stanley.
-
ذركا ذركا جحاد

Not Sayeed, everyone knows the only professions open to people called Sayeed are computer store assistants and gang rapists.

Raza.
-
A select few names which I am fond of.
Hawk Eye
Radar
Jed
Jethro
Gilligan
Skipper
Archie
Meathead
... In all seriousness, Faris sounds good. It's a really nice name, definitely.
-
A lot of people are suggesting names like Salim Mustafa Osama etc, but what if when your child grows up he doesn't like that decision to give him a "Hi I'm muslim look at my name!" label? Because you know this happens all the time and it's better to be safe than sorry
It's just that since magical negro mentioned a convertion and you say "because it's the muslim thing to do" I'm guessing that you don't really come from arabs and are just doing what your
husband wants but please ignore this post if this is not the case because I don't want to argue with anyone (specially a pregnant woman)
jesus you are a horrible troll.
-
Javed
Issa
Khalil
-
Why don't you make up an entirely new name, never before heard? That way it's not affiliated with anything.
Here let me help you come up with some:
Jasselope
Gringnr
Giuseppe
Raging Jew (or RJ for short)
-
Our last name is Sharar, but most muslim names should sound right. and LAWL at Raging Jew.
-
Farissssssss.
-
Yeah, Faris Sharar actually sounds good.
-
if you do pick a name from here, just don't tell your child where it came from.
-
I definitely don't want to tell my child that I couldn't figure out a name... but having options when the baby does come is nice... It's almost like a push in a good direction when someone offers their opinion.
I asked Haris if he liked Faris, he laughed pretty hard... I think it's the rhyming factor. And the fact that I got him to look at buying a Yaris Sedan instead of a Corolla Sport. ( that might be a little too much for the little one to bear)

the correct answer to this thread:

DS once promised (promised) that if he ever had children he would name the first Soldat.exe
How about Soldat.exe?
-
A couple of names I remember of a few friends I grew up with:
(Not sure If I'm spelling this right)
if it's a girl.
Sabah - (means morning)
if it's a boy
Faiz - (means knight)
Asim - (means protector)
I dunno, I just think fondly of these names simply because of the people associated with them; they were good kids, that came from a great family.
-
Guybrush
Or failing that,
something Irish is always popular. Keiran, Shay, Dermot, Aidan, Finbar...
-
Guybrush definitely
-
no don't
hey fuck you buddy
Name him Kakorot, Qwerty, or Dog. I like Qwerty the best.
Qwerty Sharar. It rolls off the tongue.

-
We found a name we like, Zaki Mohammad Sharar. Opinions?
-
I still like Stanley better.
To be honest, if someone told me their son was named "Zaki Mohammed" I do not think I would beleive them and to be brutally honest I might actually laugh in front of them.
-
that's a boring name. Why do people insist on naming their children boring names?
-
ahaha, what a useless topic. you didn't listen to anyone's suggestion, even the decent ones. not that you really should since it's a net forum, but really what the hell.
GOOD CHOICE OF NAME I guess.
-
Faris sounds good.
personally i like the name Ayden.
the only good arabic name i know of (besides Faris) is Altair (means "bird"), which i heard in Assassin's Creed. :gwa: it can be pronounced Al-tie-ear or Al-tare. i think it sounds cool :D
-
Altair isn't a real name though, at least I haven't heard of anyone named like that (probably because the correct pronunciation sounds bad: alta-err)
I never liked the name Faris, but that's probably because it's too similar to my own name.
I don't like Zaki either, but whatever floats your boat (is it for delicious, smart, or smells good?)

-
Try http://www.thinkbabynames.com
I think you're more likely to find something to your liking and you can just look up names with certain meanings.
Although, you did ask for our input. Personally, if I had a son and was sticking to muslim names, I'd call him Jamal.
-
alistair
no way spell it correctly
also Mikha'il is a pretty awesome (and Muslim) name. or Isa!
-
Zaki sounds like sake to me
and pretty homo, but well people name guys Alexis, i cannot comprehend

Also, husband? What the fuck you're 20...
ALTAIR
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Astronomy
Means "the flyer" in Arabic. This is the name of a star in the constellation Aquila.
-
4 weddings total in the past two months 3 being relatives that I had to go to the other a close friend all of them are under 21 and the grooms out of 3/4 of them are in the military.

GOOD CHOICE OF NAME I guess.
it's kind of a decision that the husband has to agree to too mate.
We found a name we like, Zaki Mohammad Sharar. Opinions?
I do not like the first name at all. It sounds pretty bad and the name just doesn't really roll off the tongue or flow well.
Can't really make fun of it in school though...
-
Amir, Shayan, Shabbir, Marjan, Haisam, Nadeem, Farris,
I like REDWAN, and HAMZA a lot
what else... Adam, Zain, Zayed, Umair, Omer, Umar, Jafer
-
Iblis
-
Omgama Mooncloud Republic
Lettuce Passions
Flowerchild Firstsun
Bananamoon Eugene
These are cool names that I'd recommend if I had any say over what to name a child, I know you've already chosen one but I'd just throw them out there to show that there are alternatives.
-

I really liked Humza too, we both looked at that one as well... Zaki we thought would be cute for a boy... but thats still one of 52 names we are narrowing down. And our parents also haven't had a chance to put their input on the boys name really... but out of all directions there were some good ones out there.
And yeah, my husband has a lot of input and both our families will too, since this is the first grandchild on both sides. (im the youngest child in my family, and he is #2 of 4)
-
I can see a baby being called ickle bitty Zaki but a grown man?
In an onomatopoeic way it SOUNDS like the kind of name that the annoying keep-the-kids-happy sidekick character in a disney film.
Coming soon to Disney stores: Plush Zaki.

She's 20... Married and with a kid...
Do you seriously expect better?
-
She's 20... Married and with a kid...
Do you seriously expect better?
Oh thank you for that harsh criticism. My age does not mean that I am not intelligent nor does it mean I cannot make good quality decisions.
Also, people get married at all ages, who the fuck cares if I decided to marry younger.
-
20 isn't exactly young to be married/with kid anyways. Most people here's mothers were probably pregnant around that age.
-
conversely though most parents dont ask an internet forum for their child's name.
-
Gaia online would be a great place to ask for names though. The suggestions would be all like
Hiyazaki hiroshi
Goku menasutasho
Hideyoshi tokugawa nee-san
Sephiroth Ikarisama
-
20 is old for where I live, pramland central. It's a case of, if you can afford to support a child and you want to - why the hell not? Certainly help even out that population pyramid!
-
Zaki is...well it's okay. When he figures out that it's kind of lame he can switch to Zack or something.
-
Oh thank you for that harsh criticism. My age does not mean that I am not intelligent nor does it mean I cannot make good quality decisions.
It is not about intelligence or good quality decisions, it is about maturity an ability to react quickly to problems, handle pressure, wisdom, and many other things you GET WITH TIME, NOT WITH INTELLIGENCE.
Basically all the point I made about VG are also meant to you and anybody that gets a baby way too fucking young.
-
I'm 20 and I really want kids emotionally but practically they're a long way off. nothing to do with the discussion just thought id post a little info about myself :)
I don't know if anyone posted these yet, but there are some very good names here.

Just so you know, my first kid will be a girl named Terra or a boy named Ryukaze. Hopefully this wouldn't need discussion(Though I might think harder about "Ryukaze...).

Not to mention a kid at that age pretty much ruins your life in the dimension of academical/professional accomplishments.
-
She's 20... Married and with a kid...
Do you seriously expect better?
You judge people pretty harshly. 20, married/kid is.. fine. It's early but it's fine. It's perfect if you have a stable life. If your life is already stable at that point then why not? You will only be able to see your kid grow more than if you had him/her at like, 35. You know, it's probably a fun thing to be around your children when they are adults and that you aren't really old. She's gonna be 40 and her kid is gonna be around his/her/whatever/idontcare 20s. Fun times, imo.
Also I suck with baby names. I just wanted to rant about Lord Kamina.
-

So i heard they had these things called loving family members...confirm/deny?
I just don't think it's really much of your business and kind of rude (what you said, anyways).
-

You are supposed to be as independent as possible. Having supportive family members is great, having financial help is good, but you're not independent and independence is a wise thing to have when forming a family.
I speak from my cousin's experience, she fucked and had a baby around 20 when she was starting academic studies. Briefly speaking, she fucked up, left college, depends on her parents (has help from bf too mind you), lives at her parents, now she must be 25 years old and I dunno what the fuck she'll do with her life.
She fucked up.
Vaginal Barrel fucked up.
I dunno if Chani's was accidental, but getting a kid at a very young age is fucking up, or at least a very NOT PRUDENT and UNWISE decision.
EDIT: also "it is none of your business". THIS IS A FORUM FOR FUCKS SAKE.
and about being rude, try reality.
Reality hurts.

for one, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. and two, this topic isn't about debating the merits of having children at an early age, so quit bringing your awfully closeminded opinions in it!

I'm pretty sure thats the enemy

I absolutely agree with you.
Not to mention my cousing knocked his girlfriend up too a while ago and a classmate in highschool got pregnant during senior year.
Edit: I'm rude so sue me... If I knew chani in real life I'd probably say the exact same shit I'm saying now... I'm not trying to be liked by you or whatever, just stating my opninion.
And Ryan you're being a huge faggot, she already chose her name, technically the "motive this topic was made for" is over and done for.

ok cool, maybe you should go in every topic and rant about how people FUCKED UP THEIR LIVES and shit when they have a kid like shepperd does?? mind you both of these people are over 18 so it's not like they are in highschool or anything! but again thanks to both of you for assuming that anyone who has kids before like age 30 is just a total fuckup!
