so I just watched the trailer for this game
http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/949110/alone-in-the-dark-5/videos/atdwii_061108.html
It looks like a real attempt at the full potential of the wii, graphicly, and intuitively. I am very impressed.
I might even skip mario kart for this game, (after playing it about 5 times, it just doesn't seem too fun anymore,)
here's to hoping it turns out good.

The only Alone in the Dark I've ever played was the first one, with its hilarious graphics and zombies that seem to be making belching sounds. I also remember a zombie bursting into the room I was in, then just sort of walking past me into the next room, then it turns around and THEN goes after me.

I played one Alone in the Dark for the original PSX. I remember it wasn't that good. Yet again, I'm a fan of survival horror games so I'll be getting this no matter what. :P

I didnt even know there was a Wii version.

I saw a few, "engine" trailers and I think it looks pretty interesting. Some of the elements really strike me as "SURVIVAL HORROR", such as crafting your own weapons (healing spray + lighter), and using your items, and things around you to survive. (Lighting chairs on fire, and using them as weapons/torches)
I wanted this game before I even saw the trailers for it. (I saw a little blurb in Nintendo Power about it)

Get the PS3 or 360 version if you can.
The gimmick feature of this game is combining items to create weapons like aerosol can + lighter = miniature flamethrower. The inventory is also your coat pockets which is kind of neat I guess.
Still, Alone in the Dark has sucked since the first game (which was pretty revolutionary for its time despite having aged poorly) so I'm crossing my fingers for something good.

in general there is no interface for anything, and i think they did a pretty good job from everything i have seen. there's a lot of things in this game that interest me, but mainly, they put a lot of thought into it and it feels a lot different than other games out there.
i am pretty excited to see how this turns out. i never even knew there was a wii version, it looks alright, but the PS3 / 360 version will probably be much better.

Not surprising as the majority of previews centered around some of the tech. features in the game which are far more realized on the 360/PS3. (although they managed to mimic them somewhat on Wii, such as the propagating fire effect) Aside from this video, I think the only other Wii footage that was available until now was some tiny offscreen footage from when it was first made known a Wii version was in the works a while back. Anyway, I really want to try this for Wii based on some of the info from previews/interviews as well as that video, but I'll wait and see how the controls stack up. While it looks functional, it seems some devs can get the motion response to be incredibly accurate, while others have a noticeable lag between completing the motion and seeing it play out on screen.

I love the concept for this, but I can't get over how muddy the graphics look in even the 480p trailer.

That was the first Wii trailer which didn't look absolutely ridiculous (LOOK WE ARE HAVING FUN TOGETHER SWINGING THE CONTROLLER).
This could actually be really cool if they can make the gameplay work. It's too bad the graphics aren't very good but that doesn't bother me too much.

The gameplay looks pretty cool, but I am worried about the look of the story... I wish they would go back to the original Lovecraft themes and drop the whole GOVERNMENT SECRET SPECIAL FORCES FIGHTING SUBTERRANEAN SHADOW ALIENS thing.
also those graphics are hilariously bad. I mean, some of the textures were just... flat colors, like the inside of the car. The character modeling is barely up to Silent Hill 2 standards.

I just played throught the first Alone in the Dark.
But I forgot to burn the tree so I can't finish the game.
