Title: [DS GAME] Knights In Nightmare
Post by: Nessiah on June 14, 2008, 12:37:09 am
Sting's making Department Heaven Episode 4 called Knights in Nightmare and is going to be released in DS at September 25th; there isn't much info but...

It seems that the heroine is Maria and...oh well just going to get wiki stuff :V

Quote
Story
The story in Knights is told in both a forward and reverse fashion, with the revelation of past events - what happened at castle Avenheim - being used to decide and explain the events of the present.

Characters

Wisp: The player controlled character. Possesses Knights in order to take part in battle.
Maria: A Knight and the heroine of the story.

Other known Knights include Diana, Hildegarda, Rudolf, Rolf, Masenda, Bertha, Bergman and Annelotte.

Opening Movie

Gameplay Trailer

The Gameplay is Real Time Turn Based Strategy Battle System? I think that's how to call it I guess. Everything is going on, all in real time, and when a character can act, you select them to make them do something, hence it being their turn. Some of the things flying around the screen are the demons supposed to attack the wisp (the little white thing going around ) that you have to dodge. I think the other stuff lying around are bonuses that the wisp picks up.

What do you guys think of it?

I didn't even know there was a Department Heaven Episode 1-3 (WTF kind of name is this?) but it looks kind of interesting and it'll probably be rare so what the hell.

They're doing it backwards if I Remember correctly.,

Episode 1 is Riviera which is supposed to be Episode 4
Episode 2 is Yggdra Union which may be Episode 2
Episode 3 is still unreleased. I am really curious what this is.
Episode 4 is Knights in the Nightmare that looks like the very first episode.

So are they interconnected or is the name just a marketing gimmick?

Well there's not enough proof that they're connected except they are occuring in the same universe, so it's like Final Fantasy Series in a way.

Except Final Fantasy games don't take place in the same universe!  (well, most of them curse you Ivalice Alliance).

Well I'm not sure ahaha ^^;
But if you play the games, they are interconnected somehow, specially Heaven's Gate and all.
Oh just saw Wiki again

Quote
In the unveiling article for Knights in the Nightmare, it was explained that the worlds share a common Asgard, but no further details on their relations were explicitly given. In a later Dengeki Maoh article it was revealed how each game interacted in the Universe, each initially taking place on the overworld and being connected in some way to either Asgard or the Underworld.

Regardless, many connections can be drawn between Yggdra Union and Riviera, with Grim Angels, the World Tree, Fanelia and Heaven's Gate appearing in both.

For those who are curious:

And I need to buy a DS and PSP :shady:
The sad thing is YU PSP English and Knights In The Nightmare almost have the same release date XD both in September.

edit: I always thought that FF games are settled in one world called "Gaia" o.o

I always thought Riviera was a western RPG.

I guess I never heard of this series the right. Though I'm glad it's not as anime as I thought it would be.

I thought Riviera was pretty great and even though Yggdra Union pissed me off it was still fun so I'll probably get this BUT I have no idea what the fuck is going on in that gameplay trailer. It just looks like a bunch of stuff flying around arbitrarily.

FFX was in Spira. The name Gaia was shared with FFIX and FFVII but arent the same world.  The rest are unnamed... for the most part at least.

Seriously?  Riviera is about as ANIME as you can get with long drawn out attack animations and 90% of the cast being girls.

Well Riviera is a dating sim-esque rpg so it's no surprise if 90% of the cast are girls :P
The only difference is Ein doesn't have a rival.

Reminds me of Tenchi.

I'm just going by what I see in the vid posted in this topic. I have no idea otherwise.

If this is linked to Riviera and Yggdra Union, I'm going to play this. I LOVED Riviera.

This reminds me of the mind numbingly awful Riviera so... No thanks.

Riviera is unique, but the battle system got annoying after a while. Rose Chronicles was much better, in my opinion!

Also, "Annelotte" and "Hildegarda" are terrible names. Antoinette instead, perhaps? Riviera's names were much better.

Craze, I think it's Antoinette and Hildegarde if it's typed correctly. Riviera's battle system sucks imho but I still enjoy it. (I abused practice mode XD)

And they're aiming for something different in Knights I guess :o

I think maybe they need to understand that there's such a thing as "too much happening on the screen at one time." I thought all of Yggdra Union's menus were a lot, but this looks like "NON-STOP BRIGHT COLOR EXPLOSIONS" which maybe doesn't work that well on a tiny DS screen?
