For those that don't know, Cryptopsy is a very well known technical death metal from Montreal, Canada (where I live). They became known because of their intense brutality yet they maintained a certain level of complexity in their music. Their drummer, Flo Mounier, would also become a highlight for the band because he can play extremely fast (I personally don't think he's that great but hey, he's still a very popular drummer). Songs like Phobophile and The Pestilence Walketh In Darkness became very popular.
After Once Was Not, Lord Worm once again announced his departure except this time it was final. They also lost Jon who was another very important because he composed a lot of the songs (as far as I know). To confuse fans even more, the band got a keyboardist named Maggie and they got the singer from 3 Mile Scream. Fans were extremely sceptic about the new record and when it got leaked everyone was disapointed. Frankly, the album sounded like complete crap. People started calling them Craptopsy and then it was announed that they did an alternate mix which was actually the final mix. It still sounded like crap and frankly, it was tech death it was more deathcore. Hell, even Flo's performance wasn't as good on the record. Many people called it the new St-Anger. On Metal-Archives the album got an average of 8% with 14 reviews which is probably the lowest rated album on the archives. If you look at any forums, everyone is complaining about the new album yet this month's Terrorizer gave it a 8/10 and several other media outlets seem to love the album.
I personally found the guitars to be too low, completely unoriginal, the vocals were closer to deatcore which I don't like but I can understand that they wanted to make something diferent but they still suck even for deathcore. When he starts singing clean it sounds like crap too. Flo is far from doing anything completely original, he's just there bashing his drums away like a madman yet it doesn't serve the songs at all. Anyways, his ego probably ruined the band. Hell, Maggie even left the band because she was furious that they barely used 5% of what she composed so she left (funny story... my girlfriend knows her because they both come from a small town about 2 hours from Montreal).
Anyways, use this topic to discuss this craptastic about by Cryptopsy/Craptopsy.

What am I supposed to be listening to? I can hear drums and sometimes when the drums stop I can hear Atari noises.

that is pretty fucking cool
i laught out loud like 4 times when watching that
if i was gonna make a parody of ridiculous metal and it came out a perfect parody, it'd pretty much be that
when he sings fast or whatever it is he's doing, he realy really sounds like the television from the sims
kinda makes me wonder how awesome it would be to make really fast and ridiculous metal like that but for vocals sample pigs

That is how shitty The Unspoken King is... I'm telling you guys, the album is terrible. I'm not even a fan of death metal but I used to have a lot of respect for Cryptopsy even though I didn't really enjoy a lot of their stuff but now.... ITS TERRIBLE. After mixing the album 3 times you still can't hear the guitars

hahahha that was horrible, no guitar.
The original singer from Cryptopsy wears the thigh bone of a cat around his neck, I remember he said in an interview he was chillin in a graveyard with his friend 'a sorcerer' and they found a dead cat so his friend took the bone home and polished it and gave it to him as a present. THANX MAN :)
I can help you out if you want tomohawk.
here he is in the original cryptopsy btw

Wait I found the story I was talking about (got a few details wrong but its still entertaining)
Lord Worm: A friend of mine from Britain is a necromancer/sorcerer. He lived with me and we used to go out hunting for bottles and cans to recycle because you get money for it because we were poor. Of course, we would buy alcohol with it, which was fine, and then we would go haunt cemeteries with our alcohol, which is also fine. He's an underground music lover, as I am so we'd be shouting lyrics from Celtic Frost and Sacrifice and all kinds of blasphemy at the night sky, it was great! Then, we would find dead animals and we would maim them and we would take parts home and keep them in the freezer. True story, the pendant I am wearing was made my him, he wears the other half (the pendant is a cat's jaw, I saw it for myself!), he gave me the name Lord Worm one night when we were comparing sins, seeing who would spend a longer time in hell.
Story behind the pendant as told by Lord Worm:
"It was made from a cat jaw. We found it by some train tracks, the flies had gotten to it first, and it was really dead. He took it home and cleaned it with his tooth brush. That was 20 years ago."

Oh, nah its cool. I'm exposed to it way to much as it is. The primary forum I visit is a music forum so and guess which is the highest trafficking section. Metal. So I'm already exposed to way to much DM and DC bands as it is. I just don't like most of them. The only ones I've been able to get into recently is Vale of Pnath and Veil Of Maya as far as newer bands go. I like some old school DM bands, but its definitely not the most appealing genre in my opinion.
