Title: Batman: Gotham Knight

I dunno, I keep seeing commercials for this, it's sort of a deal like the Animatrix where it's a bunch of different short Batman movies - it looks neat I guess, but I guess part of the problem is it looks EXACTLY like Animatrix at points (as far as I can see from the trailer) which kind of detracts from the 'omg batman' vibe it should have. Plus Batman looks too ARGH in most of those shots. Otherwise it looks pretty slick but it's just annoying because a lot of it doesn't make much sense like why does batman have force field in one of those shots apparently

so uh if anybody buys this at best buy wal-marts let me know because this still kind of semi-interests me but it's also kind of becoming the rule like 'every superhero movie that comes out must have a video game + artsy-fartsy anime featurette thingy' (I remember they also did it with Riddick a while back)

I hated animatrix and the idea of these shorts kinda doesn't appeal to me. The thing that made Batman cool for me were the NEW EPISODE=NEW VILLAIN, where they had this huge encyclopedia of baddies. Having 5 cartoons that are probably all about Joker just seems boring.

Besides animatrix and riddick, what movies have done this? Those were the only times I've heard of it, I wouldn't be surprised at a star wars one or something.

I saw it, so let me spoil you a bit.

6 different stories, none with the joker in it. They don't use the joker in new batman "things" because of the new movie comming out.  THis is why shows like justice league unlimited got cancelled the movies took all the rights and basicly took all the material they could use for the show(all the super heros bad buys...storys etc.)

Each story has a different anime style. (all cool in my opinion) And no story really revovles around the bad guys, its more about batman and him dealing with his problems. The shield thing isn't as silly as you think, I don't want to spoil it for you but its not something he keeps for a certan reason.

...its really late,  but to say the least each story just gives you insight about who batman is and what he stands for.

OH and the voice acting is perfect in my opinion ad the same with the animation. The first story will throw you off like crazy, you'll be like "WTF? batman doesn't look like that!"

source? because this sounds bullshit to me. Besides, both of them are produced by warner so what are you talking about?

Man I love anime and all but why does it have to ruin things sometimes? I might check this out, but I also hated animatrix and this looks like that all over again =\

http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22326, you can find a bunch of similar articles if you just research. The Validity of them is flakey of course because there has been no official statement from the guys in charge.

Sorry to here that a style dictates everything for you rather than how well something is executed :3

Batman and anime dont mix, at all.

it mixed very well in my opinion.

It should be common sense that you need to watch a film in order to get the plot.

The joker is not even mentioned in any of these clips.

Batman and anime dont mix, at all.

Funny, considering how of the best batman stories ever were done by Kia Asamiya and Katsushiro Otomo (Child of Dreams and Masks, respectively)

Google bat embargo for more info... This shit is actually pretty old... (And the reason JLU only ever used... like... KGBeast)

I just started watching this. Just to let yall know I dug Animatrix. Especially the Detective Story.

I'm currently on the first skateboard story but it the writing is terrible. "I BET YOU DUNNO WHER EI BEEN" "NAH WHERE I BEEN TOP YALL"

"YO DATS WHEN HE SHOWED UP"
"WHO"
"BATMEEEAAANNNNNNNN"

yeah it is putting way too much effort into being URBAN but uh

the writing itself isn't terrible, just the overblown way they talk.  i guess it just sounds a little to ethnic for you huh psyburn???

I don't like these much, but I enjoyed the scarecrow one, and the one after that with the pain shit is pretty good.

EDIT:
I just finished the Deadshot one, I liked that.

I just watched this and it was okay, I guess.  A bit boring at times and it didn't really evoke any feeling in me.
The style got to me sometimes, especially the whole first story (shaky camera and people waving their arms around) and whenever they showed Bishie Bruce.  Ugh.

yeah some of the animation styles were pretty MEH, even if the quality was up there.  it looked pretty good FOR ANIME and that's about as good as traditional anime shit looks, but i agree it was kind of out of place!  i don't think it looked as bad as the final one, though, where he looked like a dude out of fucking fist of the north star or something, with that huge chin.  i was actually pretty big on the style in the first one, and i liked the look of the story where he was in india or wherever, too, and the one where he fought croc.  the rest i was pretty neutral towards!

Also the writers attached to this project are fucking awesome but, Brian Azarello hit it up on the charts.

I watched this and enjoyed it. However, it just doesn't seem burly enough for batman.
And yeah, the bitch Bruce was pretty lame.

I'm waiting for the movie to load lol

Edit: It was pretty cool, some of the stories didn't transition smoothly between each other bit thats ok, I didnt really like the art in the first one though...
