I've been following this for a while but now that there is more info out, I figured I'd make a topic.
Kirby Super Star on the SNES (Hoshi no Kirby Super Deluxe in Japan) is one of the few minigame compilations that can be called "beloved." In a move that is only shocking in regards to how long it took, Nintendo has announced a sequel, called Hoshi no Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe.
The few screenshots we have reveal the return of the "Gourmet Race" event from the previous game (race against King Dedede in both speed and amount of food eaten), the "Spring Breeze" adventure mode, and what looks like a "Great Cave Offensive" style treasure-collecting game. In addition, a wireless connection icon is visible, meaning that wireless multiplayer (though not necessarily Wi-Fi) will be enabled.
Marked red, has since been changed to a remake, they are bringing back all of the old games from Superstar SNES and adding a few things on top...
SO THEN...
I am a huge Kirby fan and there has been nothing I've craved more (aside from that damn Gamecube release of the Kirby 3D Platformer that never saw the light of day, but here's hoping for the Wii release, it's APPARENTLY in development...), than a sequel to Kirby Superstar.
While this isn't a direct sequel, one of the things to date that has pissed me off with the DS (and PSP) is that the homebrew scene couldn't emulate the original Kirby Superstar, the way I see it, this remake at least an answer to my first prayer of being able to to play the game on the go, but having new material on top of that just makes it that little bit better...

We can relive our favourite realtime RPG moments!

Gourmet Race whahay!
Here's hoping there will be a mode where you can race 2-player over Wifi or post your times on an online scoreboard...

Some new stuff too, looks like a point blank knockoff...
I dunno what the right screen is supposed to be of though...
Along with that, Megaton Punch, The Revenge of Metaknight, The Great Cave Offensive, Dynablade and so on will be coming back with fresh DS-ready graphics, from what I see currently they look very similar to the original graphics which is a good thing, I think one of their biggest costs or mistakes of development would have been to remake ALL of the sprite graphics...

Green Greens is looking a lot nicer than before and Dynablade has been given a nice new look...
So then, I'm personally very excited and anticipating the release of this game, how about the rest of you?
HAL Labs have done very well with their Kirby Titles overall however they have been very lacking in the DS department (with Canvas Curse being the exception), here's hoping this is THE Kirby Game for the DS...
Any ideas on what else they are likely to add?

Let's just hope they don't screw this up...

Let's just hope they don't screw this up...
It'd be so hard to do, that even if they manage to do it, there will at least be some novelty in discovering just HOW someone can screw it up.
This is going to be the shit, although I am kinda sad that the idea of a "whole new kirby game styled after Superstar Saga" got dropped in favor of another remake. If this game weren't so timeless, it'd downright piss me off. (the extra content is a plus; here's hoping it includes some kind of new "full-kirby-platformer" type game rather than just extra minigames)

I read about this a while back and went batshit
Looks hot
-
Oh my God, this looks amazing.
My favorite Kirby game of all time.
-
Why are they still using the same character sprites from the GBA games? Despite that, the other screens look colorful and vibrant with the updated graphics.
-
I'd say it's just the trend that developers are taking...
Similarly to how sonic or mario don't look like this anymore:

Sonic looked the best in those awesome cartoons back in the day... what happened? :(
Anyways, I've been waiting for this for a long time... Superstar, IMO is the best Kirby game. Man that multiplayer helper system was sooo balla...
-
OH MY GOPD *splogges in pants* er... oops excuse me for a moment XD
.:returns with fresh pair of pants:. hehe ok sorry bout that...but seriously this looks amasing..........heres to another great ninty game

As much as I adored the original Kirby Super Star I really doubt I'm going to get this unless they add alot more than a few mingames with fancified touching controls.
-
all i have to say is lame.
all the old games are getting full new entrees in their series, why can't we get a full brand 100% new side scrollin kirby.
:[
-
so is there anything new besides the Nightmare in Dreamland + blown up and resized sprites? It looks like they redid some of the mini-games (I loved the megaton game especially when you split the planet in half) but the whole point behind Superstar was the cheap and short scenarios. I want to see a sequel to the metaknight storyline or something in this game >
-
How did I miss this? Dammit. I'm really gonna get this.
Although I'd like it if they add more games.
-
I'll probably be getting this seeing as I've always loved Kirby games. I don't mind an enhanced remake of superstar, although I'd like it if they used graphics as good as Canvas Curse.
-
I thought kirby was like a fluffy mario game. I had no idea.
-
I didn't know they were revamping the graphics though I haven't read much into this. It was pretty much a given that I'd be giving this a shot. (still own the original game, but the save system won't save anymore ;_;)
Oh, and Milky Way Wishes for the win, please.
-
To CcCcCariussss: That kirby GCN game is not gone, its making the jump to the wii. Search Kirby Wii on youtube if you dont belive me(I would link it if my computer was working).
Anyway, it looks to be better then the TERRIBLE squeak squad. I like the RPG mini game, brings me back :)

This is bad for the industry.
-
I'm excited for this. This was my favorite SNES game that I owned. And still own/play occasionally.

~_~
You know, they at least redid the graphics and added actual new games to this. That's kinda different from a hair color change and 1 dungeon that could be done by a simple rom hack, buddy.
-
Not defending Hunter's trolling, but I doubt the new games are going to be much more than screen touching minigames that Nintendo's already slapped on a few Mario games, and aren't the redone graphics just ripped from the GBA Kirby?
-
Nnnooo, this is an entirely new graphical style for Kirby. And there are two confirmed new sub-games, and with sub-games, I mean like Dynablade, Great Cave Offensive, and Milky Way Wishes. I think they were called Meta Knight Ultra and Revenge Of The King.
-
Wow... this may have sold the DS to my collection. which isn't very big =(
