I really don't like making all these new movie release topics but oh well.
Hellboy: Golden Army, did you like it or love it?
There were a lot of really good points in the movie, and it seemed for the most part to be a family movie. On the other hand, about every 20 minutes there would be a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE joke, and despite having some very amazing looking costumes, they didn't seem up to the task of keeping the makeup fresh on the main characters. There are a few points in the movie that Selma Blair will have Hellboy makeup left on her seemingly unnoticed, and the main antagonist, Prince Nuada, loses makeup left and right throughout the whole movie.
They focus A LOT on Abe, which for me was too much, maybe not for others. Abe fits as a good side character imho, but doesn't do too well as a focus point. Also, late in the movie he does something for completely no reason at all, and it disrupts the entire plot.
All and all, my main problem with the movie was that it's so grossly detached from the Hellboy universe. There are goblins and elves and trolls and elementals and it seems completely out of touch with the post-1950s feeling of Hellboy.
I give it 7/10, and I feel generous despite it's good ratings.

Don't you mean the main antagonist? :fogetshrug:
Anyway, I was about to make this topic myself. Personally, I did not like this movie much at all. It kinda seemed a bit tooooo long, and at the point I guess was the main point, the Golden Army, I was ready to doze. All in all, the movie was both an upgrade AND a downgrade from the first.
Also, who was the princess, she looked very familiar, but I can't place a finger on it...

I know what you mean about the princess, the whole time I was trying to figure out who she was.
No dice though, she's been in like 2-3 shows/films, nothing I've seen.

this is out already?!?
the first one was pretty bad but kinda good. basically with guillermo del toro there's gonna be lots of style, and I think that's what made the first movie likeable at all outside of everything taken from the hellboy comics. from your description it sounds like the same thing that was wrong with the last one hurts this one too, maybe they're trying to make it appeal to mass audiences idk. I'm going to try to see this but I'm not sure if I'll be able toAlso, who was the princess, she looked very familiar, but I can't place a finger on it...
vampire diary most likely?? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0910472/ only thing she won anything for

From some show called ally mcbeal, used to show on tv here when i was like 14 or something.

I'm not really excited for this one. The last hellboy just felt so fake. I do like the director though, just not the direction he has taken with the hellboy series.
-
It had its moments but it was nothing special.

I saw the first Hell Boy and I remember that I really liked it...but I can't recall a single detail from the movie for some reason.
I want to see this, though. Shocked it was #1.
-
It DID seem kind of childish at points. But really, its Hellboy! Whats not to like about him?
-
This comes out in a week here and I managed to score tickets to an advance screening last night and loved pretty much every minute of it. It was disjointed and a bit set-piece to set-piece in some places, but I went in expecting some sheer dumb fun and that's exactly what I got out of it. :) Looked pretty nice too, considering it had a [fairly] low budget.
