As of right now, there are ways to get an avatar larger than 150x150. I won't say how, but know this:
The max avatar size you are allowed is 150x150px. Not inches, not cm, px. Do not hotlink avatars from webspace you do not own.
As for filesize, anything over 500kb is likely way too much. Try to keep it below 300kb, we don't any 800kb animated gifs.
Ignorance is not an excuse and you will be major warned and have your avatar removed if you abuse this.
We'll try to find a way to completely remove the possibility in the future.
