My parent's computer is having a rather annoying problem. For some reason, the sound doesn't seem to want to work. Instead after installing the drivers the speakers give off a static noise.
I've checked all of the connections and they all look to be in order. Could they have installed the wrong drivers?
The soundcard is the Philip's Acoustic edge, and I'm not sure of a safe place to find these drivers myself. (The Philips webpage does not host the drivers for some reason.)
A bit of help?

You should plug in another pair of speakers/headphones to make sure it's not the speakers themselves. You can find the drivers at Phillips site by putting your model number in at http://www.support.philips.com/support/html/index_us_en.html
or you could check out some of these:
http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/companies/813.htm
or you could finish browsing the rest of these google results:
