GW Olympics 23/08/08 Update[/size]

The Olympic Medals table after 1 event:

Country GSBPoints
NED 1--3
USA -1-2
IRL --11

GW Olympic Speedrun
That's right, the GW Olympic Speedrun Event has finished, with an expected Gold for the Netherlands and Dada, who was the favourite from even before the start of the event and managed to set a hefty time that the rest of the competition couldn't catch. But this event was more focused on the Silver and Bronze spots, where Ireland's Harland was knocked from his Silver medal position as the event closed by DeadPhoenix who is representing the United States of America. Even worse luck for Omcifer, who was nudged out of the medal positions and failed to pick up anything. DeadPhoenix was last in the event until the dying seconds of the event.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Tournament
Since the last update, the tournament has been through registration and has started. The tournament is a Double Elimination bracket, which means if you lose a match-up, you still have another chance on the Loser Bracket, and eventually come back for the Final. Some fights have already taken place, Chef knocked DeadPhoenix, the silver medalist in the Speedrun, into the Loser Bracket, while Esh defeated UPRC. Like DeadPhoenix, Dada and Harland are in this tournament, but are yet to fight. The competition is beginning to heat up, so watch out.

Sigh. This is why I wanted a more 'obscure' game for the speedrunning thing (and also why I didn't bother to enter it).

How did those Canucks do in the first event?

Too bad I don't have Street Fighter...I would of entered (and probably lose, but whatever)

I'm still waiting for the Smash Bros. event to get started.  And maybe the chess one.  Not so sure about that...

After playing some Brawl this afternoon, how is this going to work anyways? The damn game lags like nothing else if you play somebody outside your region. But...for a one on one match with someone else...is that faster?

Chess would be interesting...maybe I should give it a shot?

We should have a schedule on all the events.  :)

They came second from last. Dirty Canucks.

The topic that has pretty much all the events is here (http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=74235.0). What's next and so forth isn't certain since some of them don't work out, but such major tournaments as the SSBB or the Soldat tournament won't be held until after the current Street Fighter tournament, just to keep the haul easy enough to handle (plus we don't want to strain anyone with too much, especially since school is starting and so on).

Yeah, 1v1 is pretty much the only option considering the lag, it isn't as bad when there's only 2 of you (but even then it could be better).

I mentioned I was considering doing another one anyway, and so I've decided to go through with it. I've chosen a random obscure game (well, at least it isn't Megaman). So you better enter. It's pretty fun, I'll sort out a topic now.

I finally got a LAN Adaptor to have a faster and more stable connection, so now its time to kick ass.
