Just curious to see out of the three games (first game in series) which one is liked the most. I chose zelda.
-
Game as in the first game in the series or the whole series?
-
The first in the series.
Better fix the topic.
-
I chose final fantasy, if only because I can actually get most of the way through without dieing.
Whereas in Zelda I'm lost, on about 50+ deaths and annoyed. In Mario I've given up al hope of getting through 5-1 alive, I just can't remember the Hammer Bro's attacks well enough
-
I haven't played the original Zelda or Final Fantasy so I'm going with Mario.. Good times.
-
Same as Tau. Never played FF or Zelda, but MARIO, now theres good times!
-
Mario here, I never played classic FF and Zelda before x.x
-
I'm gonna go with Mario too. I like FF1's remake but the original is just pretty painful to play. First Zelda is pretty good but I was never a huge fan of it. The first Mario on the other hand is still great.

This list....
It's like asking what our favorite Ice Cream is and listing Vanilla Vanilla Vanilla =(

LOL. A lot of marios. I liked Zelda better, but Mario is still a great game. Mario 3 I think was the best of the series.

Having played all three of those games, I can safely say my vote is for the original Kirby.
-
100% Mario...That game never gets old...EVER
-
I like the original Final Fantasy the most but it might be nostalgic feelings of sitting around bored off of my ass grinding for hours and thinking "aaaaaaaw that was great I remember when life was so carefree".
-
Mario, because it was just.. So damn awesome, and still is.
FF1 was slow and boring as hell to play.
Zelda is a good game, but it suffers from having no real direction or focus in the game. You don't even know what to do or where to go 99% of the time.
-
None of them were terribly good. I vote for Ninja Gaiden fuck yes

yeah this game sucked

I chose zelda too. That game was such a fun experience. The first mario was stale and repetitive, and the first final fantasy, I never played till recently, and I can easily say I'd have hated it back then too.

What?!
That Mario game is incredible, especially when you play co-op. Yes, it has no real ending like all NES games... it just goes on and on but it's hilarious. If you find the main goal boring, try and kill each other! That's alot of fun too.

That game, Wrecking Crew, and Super Mario Brothers stole my soul.
I'm such a Mario whore :fogetcry:
-
Wrecking Crew was so annoying, and yet addicting at the same time.

I blame the foreman, the guy that knocks you off the building. We call him Ralph and cuss at him and tell him he's a no-good two-bit hack who'll never have any future success in games. It might be Wario, but as far as I'm concerned, he's Ralph.
-
It might be Wario,
this prompted me to do some research, and guess what came up.
In some levels, a construction foreman named Spike chases Mario around and attempts to disrupt him by knocking down certain objects and causing him to fall to the bottom of the playfield.
-
Wow! There are a lot of mario fans. I do agree with one of the above posts. The original mario was good but it was a bit repetitive.
-
Zelda annoyed me to no end. I played Mario a LOT as a kid, but I've definitely played Final Fantasy most of the three. Especially if you include rehashes. There's just way more to keep you occupied in that game than the other two (see: fighting monsters repetatively for hours on end)
On the flipside, I enjoy playing Mario 1 more than the three options, it's enjoyable and fireballs are fun to PATOOO at enemies.
Lastly, no, I still hate the first zelda game. Anything after this game was fun, Zelda 1 ---blah.

I pick mario. Nothing can beat the game mario. I havent even played the other two games.
-
I'm curious how many people realize the first mario wasnt super mario bros, or how many people never played the first final fantasy, and just voted because they liked several others in the series.
-
I'm assuming you'd consider the first game in the "Mario" series SMB. Either way, I'd pick the original LoZ. I love the FF series, but the first one is pretty boring.

Well not to say that Super Mario Brothers was a horrible game but media, in general, over-glorified it to the point where the original Mario didn't even exist. People even recognized Donkey Kong more than they did Mario Brothers. Cruel fate for such a gem of a game. Of course, honestly it did get old after playing it for awhile alone, but that's what controller port 2 is for. As for Final Fantasy, the first game really was boring as hell. So I'm guessing yeah, a lot of people voted for it just 'cuz they "lovez dat Cloud". Then again, I'm completely biased against final fantasy fans ever since that insane obsession with Cloud arose in the circle. I personally had more fun with Square's other series.
-
I think Mario was the coolest because it plays just as well as like any other Mario that came after it pretty much
I mean Mario is totally a game you can pick up now and still have fun with it, I don't know if you can say that about the original Final Fantasy, personally I don't like the old Zelda either but Mario just had it DOWN circa 1980-something
Edit: Mario is almost a game the way CHESS is a game
-
Original Zelda is my favorite of those selections, mostly because I love how ballsy it was. Like, they just dropped you in a 2/3-view adventure game world with pretty much no direction. And barely any story. No real NPCs to direct you on your way. Just plain old FIND YOUR FUCKING WAY AROUND. It was beautiful. I guess Final Fantasy was kind of like that, but not really, because there were people to sort of direct you at some points.
But of all the classic game series? My favorite first was Mega Man. Freaking great ass series that kept getting better, and has always been, to me at least, up near the pinnacle of classic level design. Frustrating? Hell yes. Rewarding? Oh fuck yeah. You prove to your friends that you can beat Mega Man, that shows skill. Final Fantasy? Naw. Just means you can sit through hours of wandering around partaking in random battles and occasional boss fights. Oh, and the occasional SHIT I RAN INTO AN AREA I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN YET AND I'M BEING RAPED UP THE BUM WHAT DO I DO?
-

... no.... which is the whole reason I mentioned it in the first place.
I'm curious how many people realize the first mario wasnt super mario bros...
How could I have thought SMB was the first mario if I had just said I was curious if other people didn't know it was?
Now that you mention it, SMB was also stale and repetitive.
-
goat, I'm assuming that the Mario option in the poll is probably intended to be Super Mario Brothers, which is basically it's own series in the Mario franchise. The original Mario was, yeah, the original.. But it wasn't a part of the Super Mario Brothers platformer series that we all know and love.
-
Mario, I guess. I didn't play the others.
