I'm not sure if this is the right place (it fits the best to me), so please move/lock as desired.

Anyways, this topic is about the new season of Survivor.

Now, I'm not a huge Survivor fan. I've only watched Seasons 4-7, and I had a falling out with the series. However, what caught my eye this Season was a competitor by the name of Ken Hoang. Now, you might not know who I am talking about, but if you have even played Super Smash Bros. Melee, you should. Considered a legend among legends, I am talking about the man who is arguably known as the best Smasher in the world. Yes, THAT Ken. I had absolutely no idea he was on the show until I noticed an Asian guy named Ken who was a professional gamer on one of their commercials. I was like "Nah, it can't be THAT Ken." Sure enough, it was.

Anyways enough about Ken, discuss this season however you want. I'm rooting for Ken all the way though. :)

A Survivor topic that isn't started by me???!!!! DOES.NOT.COMPUTE.

I've watched since the beginning and am a huge Survivor addict. I can list of anything Survivor-related, and I use to be a part of the spoiling community up until Exile Island. I now watch mainly to enjoy the show since spoiling has become less of a collective mindgame and more of a blatant list of information that some person gives out.

To be honest, Mateui, I was wondering what you'd have to say about this :p Seeing how you are arguably the biggest reality show fan ever. While I'm not a big fan of Survivor, I religiously follow shows like BB and TAR, don't ask why. o_O

Ive only watched Fans VS Faves and.. Cook Islands. Cook Islands because I'm Samoan and FVSF because it was actually interesting.. Plus Parvati is fine haha. This season won't come out here for a while as New Zealand is always late with these shows.

a couple of my friends are HUUUGE smash brothers guys. they were like number 2 and 3 in the state at melee at one point. they've hung out with ken before or something and they're TOTALLY AMPED for survivor. i don't really get it as much as they do but it's interesting that they sort of know the dude.

so i'm probably gonna end up watching this season with them. never watched survivor before, but who knows

But even he was portrayed as the "nerdy Asian" towards the end of the season.


But the Asian on China, Frosty, wasn't stereotypical at all. I didn't like him because he was kind of boring, but he seemed like he'd be cool in RL.

The female Asians on Survivor are ALWAYS hot though. But they end up being total mutes (except Peih Gee<3).

Anyways, LOL Ken fails. Tries to hook up with the only hot girl in his tribe only for her to get voted off first for being a psycho bitch.

I've gotta say, this looks to be one of the worst seasons yet. I can't find even one person remotely likable. Ken is annoying, Charlie's after dick, and that Ace guy is too arrogant.

I don't have a favourite yet, which is kind of disappointing, but I'm not giving up on this season. Simply the fact that they can't have endless "swim to the puzzle pieces and bring them back, then solve the puzzle" challenges makes this season better challenge-wise. I was so happy to see the return of the giant ball challenge from season 3.

Oh, I loved the following quote:
"I'm straight. We're in Eden. There are no two Adams here."

Charlie is so getting strung by Marcus. He's lost the game already.

Ken made a tactical error so early in the game (by spending too much of his time with an outcast and thereby making himself into one as well) but I think he'll recover.

Fang is an idiotic tribe. I hope they continue to crash and burn.

Well, IMO, two of the three or four main problems in the tribe have been thrown out. Gillian was just extra baggage and Michelle was too "pretty". I see GC and Susie probably getting the shaft here soon, though.

Why is everyone hating on this season so far? It has only been TWO episodes. I mean, I don't know about posters elsewhere, but I was at least entertained. I was glad that old bitch Gillian left, but I wish Michelle was still here. Her bitchiness and contant bitterness would've made the show fun for a while. :(

I don't have anyone I'm rooting for yet, but by the second episode, I never do. I feel like some people are letting Jeff Probst's apparent dislike for this season influence how they feel about it. I didn't watch any pre-show interviews or see the cast beforehand...so maybe that's why I didn't immediately hate it like some people did (some were already hating the season after like 25 minutes... >.>).

Survivor's worst seasons to me are Thailand and Vanuatu, and this season's start isn't even close to how shitty those seasons started (Vanu eventually gained steam...Thailand never did). And Fiji was another season filled with disgusting assholes. I don't see these players (so far) becoming that tasteless.

I never knew Probst had dislike. My dislike stemmed from the first episode solely. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Thailand had Shii Ann, right? That's about as far as I watched. The only seasons I REALLY liked as a whole were Marquesas and the one with Jenna and Heidi's PB and chocolate deal. :)

Amazon and Marqueses were both great, especially Marqueses where everyone was a character (like China).

Thailand had Shii Ann. I was young when it aired, but after she was voted out, I have absolutely no memory of it. I guess I quit too.

I don't think we'll ever see such an epic and great season as S7 - Pearl Islands. China was good, and FvF was surprisingly great (a lot of blindsides and a very deserving winner), and right now this looks like a bland season, but I'll give it time to pick up steam. I just hope that a counter onion alliance forms because if the story of this game is how these 4 just dominate to the end I'll be sad.

Micronesia didn't hook me from the start either, but the endgame was awesome, even if Cirie didn't win (But Parvati was always my backup -- thank god it wasn't Amanda), so I'm willing to give this season a shot.

I don't watch survivor but I ended up watching this season for whatever reason. I have to say Fong has made some really poor decisions! I would've gotten rid of grandma first, not that other girl even if she was in a pissy mood she would've been infinitely more uselful.

Also has anyone else noticed that olympic girl doesn't appear very fast?

Actually it was smart. Jacque already had a tight alliance with Marcus, Charlie and Corrine (although Fang didn't know that). However, Ace and Sugar were most definitely going to stick with Jacque, for they showed no interest in having anything at all to do with Kelly (probably for good reason, but still).

If even Fang lost every challenge from here on, at least they'd still have the numbers. Besides, Jacque and Kelly were interchangeable to me.

I didn't like Sugar at first, but now she's in my Top 3 (with Ken and Crystal, Matty in the Top 4). So, I'm hoping Susie and maybe Bob will team with Fang (since Randy is also sucking Marcus's dick). Just hope Sugar doesn't abandon Fang for Kota, even though they hate her.

And I don't like Matty anywhere. I don't think he's equipped for this game. He seems like a naive follower, and I can see him turning on Fang during the merge, even though Kota will have no interest in keeping him much longer.

I hope a Fong person wins, though. :) It's much more exciting that way. Also, Corinne's a psycho bitch. All that Susie did was be honest (everybody wants everyone to be honest, Corinne even said so herself) and she calls HER psycho. If Matty betrays, then Susie'd likely be my fourth, since she's the underdog here and I like the underdogs. :)

I don't think this was the BEST episode ever, or even up there. It was entertaining, but Marcus wasn't exactly an important player this season, and dare I say this episode was predictable? I knew the first five minutes Marcus was going, because he suddenly went from barely-featured to being a camera-whore in just one episode. I dismissed it of course, because Jeff and Barnett love their alpha males, so I was fully prepared to say goodbye to either Ken or Crystal. Thank God that didn't happen, because aside from those two, and Sugar (who got persuade by Matty of all people, ughhh smh), everyone else kinda sucks a little bit. Susie made a good move this time, but I'm almost positive she'll fuck up later on.

But yeah, definitely glad Marcus is gone, and I'm sure his beloved Charlie is going to go on a murder-spree to avenge his loved one. And I'm over Corrine. Her bitch-act is so forced. She'll never be Jerri Manthey.

Really? I felt like Marcus was shoved down our throats ala Earl so I was fearing he'd end up going to the end with the other onions and then easily beating them. Here in Canada they used him to advertise the show so he kind of became over the top. Even people following spoilers were convinced he was the winner.

I can't believe I was actually rooting for Kota in the beginning of the game. Fang is clearly more entertaining and I hope Sugar, Kenny, and Crystal Cox reign to the end. Crystal actually surprises me with how astute she is gamewise. I'm glad her cousin helped her cost Marcus his game. What makes it even more entertaining is that Marcus was the one who got everyone to throw away the idol. Oh, the irony.

I agree with Mateui. I was hoping and praying that Susie would get rid of "Marc-Ace", instead of Ken. As the previews say, Ken is in the best position to win the game. Matty and Sugar are in trouble, but I think this would be the smartest time for them to use the immunity idol, in order to get rid of Charlie or Corinne (let Randy stay awhile and suffer :gwa:​) Right now, if Matty and Sugar stick with Ken and Crystal, Fang will have a 5-4 advantage. I think Kota should throw the next immunity, since Bob is a dead man walking and if they really care about S&M, then it would be the safest move.

I could see Bob going home, then the merge:
Randy goes home, then Charlie, then Corinne. (whatever order here, I guess)
We're left with The Fang Five. At this point, it would be in the best interest of Susie to try and get Kenstal to get rid of Matty, and then Sugar. Then, Susie would be in the Final Three like she hoped. But, I'm sure that Ken has a better plan if he's so confident that he has the game in the bag.

If it gets to a Fange Final Five, Susie once again becomes the swing vote between Sugar/Matty and Crystal/Ken. I can see her going either way. It's hard to predict because she hasn't met Sugar yet. It'll be interesting to see if those two get along. Gamewise Susie is set if she sticks with Fang and pagongs the remaining Kota members. She traded a F6 position to a probable F3 placing due to being the swing now.

Now that I think about it, it is VERY possible the Randy will jump ship. He seems to go where the numbers are at, and since Marcus is gone, I think Randy will try to move it on Sugar and matty's group and get rid of Charlie and Corinne. However, I really don't know, but Randy is so fucking pathetic.

So far though, I'm really enjoying this season. I know it's not that popular so far, but Fiji and CI were worse to me by this point.

okay so the other night my firned made me sit and watch the entire season up to now (i think i mtnetioned before that he met ken at some smash tournament so has been really into survivor)

i REALLY dislike the SHOW itself (hey 50% of each episode is stock footage of wild animals!! how cool!) but i somehow found it entertaining anyway. i loved how ken absolutely played everyone and he has been so VITAL to the last few people being eliminated. the game is all about ken and sugar.

Giving up the fake idol was dumb as hell! He gained nothing from doing it.

really sugar and kenny have so much power. this show started off REALLY BORING and it STILL IS (animal stock footage yay) but it is getting interesting as hell and is unpredictable. the way bob used the fake idol to fuck with randy didn't do anything CONCRETE but it really alligned him with sugar and she is so strong in this game that he now has a chance of going all the way because of that move.

really hilarious fucking episode.

I guess don't have a concept of his relative strength and shit but still, dude could have just started to wear the fake idol right? or let it slip accidentally that he might have it? That seems like enough to really fuck with people. No one would feel safe voting for him even if they questioned the legitimacy of the idol.

Or they can do what they have done in the past and trick him into thinking he was safe, and then voting him out, or they could trick him into playing it while voting for another to flush it out, or they could completely dismiss it because everyone knows that Sugar has the idol.

Yea that's what I meant by something I didn't know (sugar having the actual idol(I've only watched 1 episode so)). So yea I guess aside from doing nothing at all with it at least he got a good laugh out of it! And maybe he'll get passed up a round and win individual immunity to the end because he played nice.

He's taking credit for everything. He quickly forgot that Crystal saved his ass by getting Susie to vote out Marcus instead of him, which in turn caused the rest of Marcus's alliance to implode.

Rooting for Sugar, but there's no way they're going to give her the votes to win.

Ken has become too cocky. I'm actually hoping that the rest of his alliance turns on him and votes him out. For someone claiming to be a mastermind he stupidly voted against Matty when he didn't even need to. A 5vs2 vote is the exact same thing as 4vs3 when the idol is played. He didn't need to show his hand but he just did. I hope that Susie, Matty and Sugar turn on him as a result.

Exactly. Ken apparently thinks he can do whatever he wants now. Unfortunately, if he's in the finals with Crystal and Sugar, there is absolutely no way he doesn't win.

so i'm glad that crystal went. even though i have been routing for the ken/crystal/sugar alliance since the beginning, i have really liked matty for some reason. i know the show is really PRESENTING HIM as such a great guy especially after the PROPOSAL last week, but what can I say - it worked and I'm glad that Matty's still around, even though Kenny's my number one guy.

unfortunately this means that I doube kenny will make it all the way. the winner is going to be either bob or sugar.

Yeah, I feel the same way. While I used to love the Sugar/Kenny/Crystal alliance, over the past few episodes I've been getting sick of Crystal and Kenny thinking that they run the whole game. I'm glad Sugar turned on them by giving away the idol to Matty. I really wish she would have targetted Ken instead because I feel like she would have had a better shot against her in the F3.

Well, the finale's on Sunday (and unfortunately I'll be in the Dominican Republic then, but hopefully there will be a tv there so that I can watch it.) I really hope Sugar wins (even though it is looking unlikely). Oh well, as long as Susie doesn't win I'll be content.

Okay, yeah I agree Ken's move was utterly stupid, Sugar went from my second favorite Survivor to one of the most despicable. Playing Kenny and then betraying matty like that, I soon found Susie incredibly likable. She really was an underdog and REALLY flew under the radar, but this season being one of the best turned to the worst final three in a while. Bob was okay, but I hated the Onions and I hate that they won in the end. Ken got too cocky, and lost his almost definite victory by turning on his alliance with Matty. :\

Bob is a terrible winner, imo. He didn't do SHIT the entire game, and only won because his alliance were on the jury, and bitter that they lost to Sugar and Susie. Susie would've been more deserving. She didn't do much either, but at least she took out a key player (Marcus) and didn't only rely on immunity wins to stick around, unlike Bob.

Kenny really should've won this season, but if not him, then Sugar (and Crystal too, since she and Kenny worked as a team). Kenny, Crystal and Sugar were the only three players who had any real influence on the game, but for some reason Sugar did everything possible to make sure she didn't win, first by voting out Crystal, and then betraying Matty for no particular reason at all.

This season definitely peaked. It went downhill when Crystal left. It became a series of incredibly bad moves after another. Susie had it right when she tried to get rid of Bob, but Sugar being a massive dumbass and emotional wreck fucked it up.

Bob's win is no better than Amber's imo. The only difference is that he won challenges, but he did nothing else, and wasn't even entertaining to watch. He was so meh.

Ok, well I finally get to comment on the finale with you guys.... IT SUCKED.

I seriously think it was the first final 3 ever. They all did terribly with answering jury questions. The jury asked horrible questions, they were all bitter, and everything was just sour. Bob winning was terrible. He absolutely had no game strategy and even admitted it to everyone, but it didn't matter - the onions were controlling everything because they stink.

Ugh, bring on Survivor: Brazil please.
