Hey there,
OK here is the deal, my taste in music is very odd, and a lot of stuff everyone else listens to I've probably heard but never get into much. My tastes are a bit different, and one thing that has been on my mind for years is actually, where does the music from commercials come from? Such as, whenever they play songs on t.v it has some catchy tune and half the time if not more it is on commercials selling something. What type of music is this? From car commercials to medication for some type of illness/condition, I've always liked the music and would just like to know if it's some type of music style as weird or retarded as that sounds.
No, I'm not asking to post links with warez or anything, just wanting to know if this goes under some type of style or if there is some popular artist that makes these tunes for shows, like how we have rock, rap, melody or whatever... hope I made it clear because I know it sounds odd :P

they are called jingles and no it's not a music style because it represents the exact opposite of taste, sorry :(

Actually, a good deal of music, when it's not some cheesy classic rock song or a jingle, it's often some kind of "indie" style band. I've definitely heard The Eagles of Death Metal in car commercials (their song Speaking in Tongues is in a lot of them). I think the whole "Let's Go Outback Tonight" jingle for Outback Steakhouse is Of Montreal or something. I've also been hearing some MGMT on TV as well.
edit: yeah, see if you don't recognize the guitar part at the beginning of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz_BVyYgEZo

she's talking about jingles I think, seeing as how I've never seen a medicine commercial with a real song!
regardless what a shitty shitty thread.

Except now like half of all the comnmercials on tv have stupid beatles cover songs in them.

Ah, thanks for the information. As for some of the music I am sure most of it is indie now, there have been some in which it sounds nice but I just couldn't figure it out. I found a station called "Chilled" that has a lot of my taste to it... but it annoys me when I hear something really nice and research it but cannot really find much information or sites for it, to expand this I can say there have been music that plays in movies or after them that I hear and it sounds good with a new taste but it's hard to find. I'm not too much big on the current music these days so I have to make it a mission to find stations/music I can listen to. The station in question that I found out with a lot of nice stuff is 181.FM Chilled.
My purpose is just to try and figure out if maybe it has some type of listing for it, jingles...hmmm... the song I have playing now is called
James Bright feat. Rachel: Little Things
songs like that I really like, it might not play in a commercial but it's kinda where I'm aiming towards, I'll investigate these jingles on a seperate note, but I guess I'm just trying to figure out what my style is with music, cause I listen to just about anything with a bit of appreciation, even current music because my friends play it all around me so I try to understand what they like about it.

Now that I think about it, there was a guy that told me about music like this, he said maybe I should look into it. The song in that youtube makes me grin :3
