First of all:
Second of all:
This is one of the worst, if not indeed the worst, 007 opening songs yet! I cannot see how this is supposed to get me in the mood for Bond. Every opener has done the job of getting you pumped, in the mood, or eager for more (with few exceptions). Then there's this... contemporary guitar, Alicia Keys, and trumpets. What the hell were they on when they decided this slow pulse-speed tune would work? It's terrible imo.
What are your thoughts?
-
well I don't think this is bad at all. As for the slow tempo welcome to all the James Bond opening themes!
-
I really like it. I don't know what you're talking about!
-
It's been taken off youtube, but I managed to download it from other means. I think the song is pretty good and contemporary. It also manages to keep the bond flare in there. Looking forward to seeing how it works in the movie
-
It just seems so... offbeat. Even the slow beat or romantic openings were catchy or interesting. This one just sounds like a massive mess. One guy commented on the video saying it sucks the first time. I'll give it another listen-to when the movie comes out. As of now, I really believe this is just one messy sounding song. Too many oddball choices mixed together into this.

I wanna hear this he;lp :-(
-
Alicia is so fucking attractive man, I would put her away 1000000 times
-

this is the song over casino royale's credits for some reason
-
Hmm. Mark, its ineffable, but that helped greatly. Yeah, I still think the song is an odd mixmash of wrong---but I can see this better going to a video, thanks to that link.

:fogetguns: :drwily:
-
this song is another way to die lol
-
the video is unavailable :(
im assuming this is the single mix tho? the single mix is often different in orchestration, mix and intensity which can explain why you dont feel the bond vibe if this is the single mix, the dude.
yeah after listening to this i can pretty much guarantee you that this is a single mix and will sound very different on the opening credits. it's really cool though. much better than Chris Cornell's at least, though that doesn't say too much??
edit: also maybe i am misunderstanding but if you're complaining about trumpets that's like Bond Theme Number 1 Instrument except from maybe STRINGS idk
edit2: is this what alicia keys' music generally sounds like? if so im fucking interested in this shit this is like the kind of music ive been looking for all my life
-
I don't think you guys could be more wrong. This is a good direction. It still keeps a Bond flare yet has a new feel which is why they rebooted Bond in the first place.
-
What do you mean by you guys?
I think it's pretty good by the way. Definitely more interesting than other Bond themes I have heard.
-
I liked Chris Cornell's version I'm not really an alecia keys fan but I'll try to find this because the links broke:
Jack white is backing up singing and that motherfucker is singing higher than alecia keys that shit is crazy
-
I dunno maybe it will work with whatever opening they have too, it would just have to be completely different than the usual stuff
ok I just like chicks made out of FIRE and shit ok - and playing cards turning into sexy ladies too hubbahubba
I also kind of like, well over the video from Casino Royale it doesn't work for me because I always consider it like an exclamation point to the previous scene, and those trumpet and screechy sounds don't really catapult me into the film which is what I usually consider them to do even if they're awful songs in every other way
Edit: Well I did like The World is Not Enough (the song I mean)
Edit: Anybody else not interested in this movie at all
Edit: I just think it's too MINIMAL - like Die Another Day was a pretty bad song too
-
I actually really like the Die another Day song. It's got a cool groove to it. It has some pretty tight production on it too.
-
I dunno, maybe Lars is right, that it will sound a little more full/whatever when it's in the movie, that they'll add crap to it for the film version
-
guys is alicia keys' music generally like this yes/no? if so fuck i need to get that shit
-
no not really. She did that Falling song
-
Alright, the more I listen to this song, the more I think it'll actually work. It must have been a kneejerk reaction I had earlier. One of those "Oh no too much change" reactions. You're all right, this'll be fine. If it isn't fine, then it's just a crappy intro to an amazing movie. (this looks incredible btw, double any bond budget before)

Nah not really but her stuff is usually p good
I like this theme, I think it's interesting and keeps the Bond flair while bringing a new element to it. Digging it.
-
well most bond songs are embarassing anyway, this song isn't i like it.
-
I loved the intro song to the 007 game Nightfire, too bad its not a full length song.

Reminds me of Nip/Tuck + E.S. Posthumus out of nowhere in the middle

Is there any particular track you're comparing it to or just the style?
