so I had a pretty big intro to this topic but I closed it accidentally. figures. I will just get straight to it:
a lot of music today, even in the "underground" scene, just doesn’t seem to really be going anywhere. no progress! No new ideas! where would you like to see music go? what do you think could be done that isn’t already being done? think I’m wrong? prove it! tell me why I amstupid abd you are notif you know some new things being done, lets hear em.
<edit> slack caps are due to typing this on my pda.

I want to hear people transcend genre.
I'd like to see if someone can somehow fit a bunch of different stuff with different sounds and even from different genres into one album and still make it feel like it has the same sort of sound and flow
-
you mean like jazz rock or jazz metal or symphonic metal or rap rock?

uh i'm not sure if this is going to raise much DISCUSSION or dialogue rather than listing and monoloque ( :) Rap...rap rap! Rock! *persons musical interest here* combined with X! )
I mean yeah i have an vision of what hasn't been done yet but that doesn't mean it's going RELIEVE the whole rock as a genre, not to mention that's just my opinion which obviously cannot be generalized to a trend! It's just... it's like Bakafura or Steel shouting *well i'd like to see RAP combined to* or thecalamites throwing *how about combining PUNK to*, see the pattern here? It really gets down to persons interests.
alpso it's kind of arguable if X (e.g. rock) isn't progressing in music or not. i'm gonna throw out a statement sensitive to light and say ROCK or music IS progressing but you can't see that from the radio or MTV. People like Elliott Smith are certainly doing their little thing to develop their musical genre of interest and you may not find these people easily ANYWHERE since they are so local/underground.
shiiiiiit sorry for shitty english, also DietCoke... why you don't try and WRITE something for a change................ hgeh, so mych for Disccussion   :rolleye :fogethuh:āsā :fogetnah:

this is like impossible to answer and i'm completely fine with all the awesome and original music coming out so i'll just say that it would be sweet if someone tried to mix hip-hop with power metal.......

I hope music becomes more organic sounding and less produced, but I doubt that's going to happen.

What I would consider as progress in music is a shift away from bands and artists that fit into single genres or even a few genres. Not every song is going to sound unique and interesting and new, but blending genres is sometimes good. Also, I would like to hear some artists that can mix up their genres. I'm sick of hearing about emo, screamo, punk, progressive, and all of it. You are all rock bands, and should diversify within that genre. I am a songwriter myself, and I know that not all of my songs are genre-transcending masterpieces, but they are all (in my opinion at least) solid songs whether or not they can fit into a genre. They key for me is that I've written country, folk, emo, punk, hard rock, progressive rock, and some things I can't even classify because they blend everything together.
