So guys. I'm looking to buy some more comic books/graphic novels.
I'm not looking particularly for stuff like Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc or anything. Something different from superhero crap (apart from Watchmen, that's awesome). The first 5 volumes of DMZ are on the way to my house, probably crossing over from America right now. Are there any others that people have read/heard about that they can recommend.
I'm into stuff that's kind of post-apocalypticish, perhaps post-war or post-civil war kind of scenarios. Stuff that is kind of political but against the government. Above all I like good/well written storylines.
Anything like that, recommend away. I'll take a look at everything you guys say, and if it sounds good I'll probably get it.

Grant Morrison's run of the Doom Patrol, its probably my favorite series in a comic besides maybe watchmen.

The Nightly News!!!

Daredevil V2!!!!
On the top of my head I can recommend Criminal, The Boys, Scalped, Road to Perdition.........
The Escapist mini series about the comic book creators was really good too.

walking dead was zombie apocalypse stuff. i only read up to #50 but i liked it, so maybe give that a try??

Yeah, Walking Dead is definately a great recommendation. The story really borrows heavily from shiploads of zombie movies, like how the main character wakes up from a coma and shit, but it's still really really awesome in it's own right.

It's only a single graphic novel (not a series) and I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but Pride of Baghdad is great. Sure, it's about talking lions, but the whole thing is political, war-based. It's just really good.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm reading the Preacher series at the moment (borrowed from a friend) and it's quite good. I'm liking the sound of the Nikopol Trilogy, so I'll check that out.
Thanks, and if you have any more to recommend, recommend away.

I highly highly highly recommend Criminal if you like pulp/crime shit.
