Okay, I'm a bit excited. Distant Worlds: The Music From Final Fantasy is making a stop in Grand Rapids, MI on April 14th of next year in which Nobuo Uematsu will be there in person. There will be a meet and greet session following the concert in which you can meet Uematsu, Arnie Roth, and others.
I just happened to snag a couple of tickets for myself and my wife, so being inspired by his music so much, this is like a dream come true for me. Is anyone else planning on attending this concert?
And to have another reason for this topic, what is your favorite Uematsu piece? It can be any from his early days, to his most recent Lord of Vermilion?
Jeremy
P.S. Oh... did I mention how EXCITED I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol ^_^
-
that's pretty cool dude :)
-
i hope he refuses to speak english to you.
-
who's uematsu. oh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuo_Uematsu come to think of it I actually liked that one song in fxii, wonder if he made it?
good luck with the meet & greet. does your wife know you're making a fvi fangame?
-
That's pretty rad, man! Tell him he should score the next Saw movie.
-
Thats pretty cool dude. Meet the legend!
-
*sarccy remark*
Nah, Uematsu's a pretty awesome composer. The fad at the moment is hating that kind of thing.
I dare you to start a one winged angel chant, clapping above your head and nodding at him knowingly.
-
Make sure when he is around, you get a stereo and play a battle theme from one of the Final Fantasy games(preferably VI). When you start to play it, have a guy in a rat costume come up, and you draw out a giant foam masamune and engage in your typical cliche RPG fight.
-

Dude, it's been the fad for like, 10 years now.
-
Which, in a grander context, is all but a fleeting moment.
-
I went to the Dear Friends concert in Chicago but didn't get to meet him. He came on stage though and spoke in Japanese.
-
Yeah... I've been thinking of things to do... but I want to do something that won't get me thrown out of the building...lol. But yeah, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm really looking forward to it. And yes, I wish I could have gone to Dear Friends too. And yes, my wife does know i'm making a Final Fantasy VI fan game. 8)

also apparently some other dude made the song I liked in fxii, it wasn't even uematsu. *rpgfan93 strolls in, chuckles about the inferiority of fxii's soundtrack, scoffs at my ignorance and wanders back to g&d never to post in music again*
actually don't respond to this, I don't even care. good for you dude I hope you get something out of it
-
Good for you, man. This is pretty excellent! I think you should follow him back to his hotel and scream VENI VENI VENIAS NE ME MORI FACIAS to his car window as he is coming out of the car, because I'd definitely do that.
-
having an opinion that contradicts you means someone is just following a fad. got that. GW'ers can't accept other opinions.
Seems cool for you man. FF8's soundtrack is really cool, so I ain't gunna badmouth him.
-
I like Nobuo Uematsu. he's a really talented guy.
-
Tell him Kitsune says hi. And ask why he hasn't responded to my emails.
-
And yes, my wife does know i'm making a Final Fantasy VI fan game. 8)
Jeremy
Oh you're jeremy... We've got some divorce papers here at our law office that you need to sign. The girl who works at the front is named cindy and she should have the forms in her file cabinet
-
Get autographs.
-
tell him he is very kawaii and sugoi

I'll have to translate those things, I guess...lol...just to be sure. But yes, he can sure stick a melody in your head. You will probably get tired of hearing me talk about this...lol. My wife, who is happy to go with me, is already tired of me talking about it...lol

How much can you really talk about something like this, Jeremy?
I mean, do you go about your day speculating aloud about which final fantasy battle theme he's going to play?
-
this is a official sucking request, everybody, suck a dong. DietCoke, i thought you were BUSY with COLLEGE... *PFFFFFFT* yeah right, heh, that's DIETCOKE for you...
Yo, Nobuo has an admirable melodyhead so uh jjesper82, if you get the chance, could you possibly ask him what artists influenced him the most in that area? Wikipedia sure has the artists he listed as early influences but i'm interested to hear what gave him that "Golden Ear"...

i like how this post is really, really verbal and doesnt make a lot of sense written out
yet you sign it as if it was a letter.
-
lol... Well, I type how I speak really (except for the lol).. .and I really don't laugh as much as i type "lol"... but hey... I do use it a lot. It's just how I do it........lol.
Anyway, I can talk about this a lot if you really get me started. Which probably means you don't want to get me started. 8)
Jeremy
Edit: Too late... I've already started... I guess everyone is doomed.... 8)
-
but if you're pretty much typing shit out like you would speak
why are you siging it!!
-
It's just something I've always done. Not really a big deal, in my opinion...o_O
....
Jeremy

it's actually pretty annoying

Hitoshi Sakimoto I believe :)
Also, tell him you are #1 fan and even making an FF fan game. Show him previews from your game and ask him to do the soundtrack.
-
You could just put "Jeremy" on your sig, or something.
fatty
-
Yes I COULD...lol. But I've done typed my name at the end for so long, that it will probably stay there, so I guess dealing with it is a problem only to those who are annoyed by it.
But anyway, yes Sakimoto was the composer to FF12, but really the only ones I liked were his remixes of past FF themes.... oh and Eruyt Village. I also like Seeking Power, but i found out it was one of the few composed by the other composer who worked with him.

I like your style.
