Title: "Blinded by the Light" Lyrics

Hi I just heard the song Blinded by the Light (by "Manfred Mann's Earth Band" best band name ever) and I remembered that I have no fucking idea what the singer is singing. I think he might be saying "Blinded by the light, went up like a douche into the _______ in the night" and if not that maybe he's saying the phonetic sound like DOOSH instead of whoosh

this has bothered me for years please help
