Title: Greetings
Post by: Decus on November 02, 2008, 03:23:37 am
Greetings. My name is Decus. I run a group of aspiring game developers getting our feet wet in the game making business. Our team is called EkIchi (Beneficent Blood). We're in the midst of a few small projects, and have some development on one larger project that we are taking  a hiatus on until we finish up some faster, smaller games to put out to public.

Most times we code our own logick and use Ogre for our graphicks. Our game titles include both fan-based games and original ideas. So I promise you some very interesting things from our side.

It is nice to be among fellow game devs, especially those who design games with a roleplaying nature. Our team offers positions when needed so if someone out there wants a part of a nice development team with potential to turn into something great, just PM me.

A bit about myself. I am 22, nearly 23, and have been DMing roleplaying games on forums and otherwise for over 12 years. I was a gamer practically from birth and have always had the passion to create game worlds of my own. Just recently I started EkIchi and gathered small kids, teens, and some adults into a work environment so they could learn hands on while working in a group. I really have high goals for the team, hoping to turn it into a profiting company after we gain a bit of experience and a name for ourselves out there among the indy dev teams. I am also a creative person: drawing, writing, singing, choreography. I've always been a leader type in my younger days and so I love to organize people and work on projects. My favourite game series is Star Ocean, but besides RPGs  also enjoy survival horror and sim games.

I hope I enjoy this community to the fullest and meet some other very talented game dev team managers/presidents.

All the best!

Decus

We hope to see some of your stuff around here on GW. Post lots too.  :gwa:

Aye. Thanks for the welcomes. I'll try my best to stay active here, yes. It seems there are more Ten Sages/Wise Men fans here as well. I stumbled upon an 'Indalecio' just a bit ago. I wonder if he's still around...

I also hope to find many more women in the game development industry. I think women are capable of also leading successful dev teams, albeit rare to see.

Title: Greetings
Post by: Decus on November 02, 2008, 10:05:17 pm
My parents are both ordained pastors of their on Christian Church (independant). They are really strict in their beliefs. I am also a Christian, but I don't judge others like they do. I believe true Christianity means to be 'like Christ', who does not judge people bsed on appearances and loves all people no matter ho far they stray.

I've never been accepted by my family. To quote my mother: "We're more of a family without you in it."

They don't allow Halloween. I still love it, though.

Pretty much. Hmm...I don't normally like to talk about these things. But I think I have some pictures of the bruises to prove that my age means nothing when it comes to the control she likes to have.

Anyways, Halloween is great! I plan on trying to go visit my friend in Colorado sometime this month providing I am allowed to. She is such an awesome person. I hope to one day possibly live near/with her. My boyfriend woud rather me live with him, though. And Timotej would rather me marry him and not the guy I am with. Not to mention the other guys I know. So, plenty of options.  :gwa: But still have to get the permission.

Greetings Fraulein Decus, allow me to introduce myself: I am Rudolf von Jaeger, heir to the estate of the grand Herzog Von Jaeger, my great-grandfather and instructor. Do not feel ashamed if this name means nothing to you, it will soon enough be stamped, fiercely, onto every last one of your waking thoughts.

You see, I am a Vampire Hunter, one from a family whose sole purpose in life was to fight mankind's fight against the vampires. People like myself are a dying breed, whose very way of life is now met with ridicule and skepticism where once we were showered with adoration and respect. But I needn't lecture you on the very realities of which you are already acutely aware. You have taken a sip from the unholy chalice of the underground, tasted its power, and danced in the shadows of darkness. This is what brought me to your attention.

My great-grandfather left me his entire estate with the sole instruction that I was to continue the work of my bloodline. On his deathbed he held my hand in his and made me pledge my everlasting servitude to his cause, to the grave and beyond. No rest as long as Lucifer's unholy leeches still pollute the earth.

Within the hour I should have fully seized the contents of the Gaming World database, and extracted your connection information. From there, the hunt will be afoot.

Please do not attempt to leave your city. It will do nothing but prolong the time it takes me to find you.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Regards,

Rudolf von Jaeger

I had this huge paragraph about why I'm interested, but instead I'm just gonna ask:

What's the deal with drinking blood? I understand you like the taste or something, but like .00000000000000000001% of all the people in the world do this, and if it were me, I would take that as a hint that it's not supposed to be done.
I mean no disrespect at all btw, I'm simply curious if you are slipknot fan#95476 trying to lash out at mom and dad or you are actually aware of what you're doing.

I've got a question which I'm sure is asked quite often.  Namely, have you ever considered dropping the whole vampirism act, even if you yourself feel comfortable with it, simply for the sake of being able to more easily fit in with the rest of the world, thereby increasing the quality of your life and most likely also your happiness?

Another question to follow up: surely you'll realize you can't still be a vampire by the time you turn 90.  Do you have in mind when you will quit or how old you would be by then?

I am pretty sure that human blood always has this sort of metallic taste you mentioned in the picture topic. I mean, every time my lips/mouth bleed for some reason(I used to do kickboxing), the blood ALWAYS tasted metallic. The "flavor" you get is usually from either sweat or like extreme cases of diabetes or something.

EDIT: The taste always reminded me of wet rust for some reason too.

I believe the reason why blood tastes metallic is because the red blood cells in your blood contain hemoglobin, which contains iron in it (or so I believe that is the reason).

Yeah, I knew that. Lentils contain iron and they also tend to have traces of a metallic taste as well, although not as strong.

actually the vampire subculture is a pretty good allegory for the homosexual experience in america

an almost underground collective resorting to subtle signals for identification, accused of queer activities, misunderstood practices, run afoul of the church, etc...

i guess the only difference is that calling yourself a vampire is FUCKING RETARDED

i dont care if she wants to act like a vampire but i am posting under the impression that she believes she is a vampire

actually i take that back

i know that she knows that she is not a vampire so i guess what i am criticizing is the fact that she insists in her public life that she is a vampire

its like you see these people on tv and if they just said "yeah we like to pretend we're vamps" then okay no harm no foul - but its always "We Are Vampires" which is insane

its as if those anachronism society (or whatever) people stopped saying "we like to pretend to be knights" and started saying "we are knights" or something like that

edit: yeah i shouldnt have been so mean but whenever i encounter people like this i am just OVERCOME BY INCREDULITY

You know what? I know Decus may look a bit creepy and a bit weird (depends on who you are) But you know what? I actually think she is quite a nice person and all. Does looks and appearance really matter? I used to know a couple of Gothic chicks back in high school and they seemed to be alright, I even knew a big time anime freak who had his hair blue and wore a yellow jacket and weigh around 300 pounds. But he was a nice guy too who was quite smart. (did better then me in English class)

Most of time these things are phases, and maybe one day...she will finally take off that makeup and starting acting quote "normal" but until that time...accept it, this is who she is. And I think she's really cool! And it's nice to have more women into the Indie gaming bizz.

Besides...what appear unnatural to you, may be the same to her. I think of myself kind of weird...visa versa right?

So once again, welcome neighbour! As I see your now becoming the talk of the town.

I don't think you gusy are quite bright enough to understand me. Let me make it simpler.

A. Someone was playing around asking me am I a vamp or geek or whatever.

B. I decided to play along and say vampgeek.

C. Someone asked if I drank blood.

D. I decided to play along since everyone else was (and thus I WAS fitting in) so I said yes.

E. I'm very sarcastic, and yet some people here (much to my surprise) seemed gillble enough to think they have a vampire among them. (What the freak?)

F. Someone started roleplaying as a vampire hunter, so I also play along with them, usually making funny comments to answer them by.

G. People STILL are going on about the Vampire thing as if they still believe it.

H. People PM me either going "Vampire cool!" or "Vampires suck!"

I. I laugh and make comments at it, thinking they are still not dumb enough to believe it but are just playing along for the pure...heck of it I guess?

J. People seem to be getting more and more serious about it. Are you people for serious?

K. Now I am scared because it seems people here really act as if there's vampires walking around every day. Or maybe they are just being sarcastic like I am and they decided one or two days worth wasn't fun enough and wish to continue...

L. Do people here really think I'm a vampire or something? Cause I'm just a very sarcastic and quite creative game designer who was playing along with something someone said to be funny...

By the way, can't wait to show off the games! I hope to have some screens/video footage soon of one of the projects my team and I are working on at the moment! I'm still glad to be here, even though you people are freaking me out just a little with the 'seriousness'.

It's just...gah. It was alright at first, because I thought everyone was you know, playing along, roleplaying and stuff.

Now I'm sort of scared that you guys are serious because it keeps going on...and on. I'm kind of tired of roleplaying. Even though I enjoy it, it just got old after a day. If you know what I mean. Then I come back and it's still going on.

If you guys were being sarcastic, then okay. If not, I'm a bit freaked, honestly...

Post by: Decus on November 04, 2008, 12:47:40 am
Depends. I'm not a Naruto fan myself actually, but the people on my team dig it, so we've taken a Naruto alter-verse approach to a game in creation called Shinobi No Seishi (Soul of the Ninja/Shinobi). As far as I know, Sasuke doesn't have a main part in it, and if you ship me some ideas I may can put them to use in the game and give you credit.

If Shinobi No Seishi goes well, we may in the future, after much work has been done on ETTC and others and we have some releases, make that Naruto 3D Online Game (MMORPG). Someone had started one but abandoned the project. So we might pick up where they left off, possibly.

The artists and voice actors for our Naruto project are quite nice methinks. So we'll be able to mimic the style and make it FEEL like Naruto. It WILL be an RPG Maker game however, as most of the experienced workers are on SO: Fallen Angels, but we always use custom made things (coes, graphicks, musick, sfx) so it won't look like an RPG Maker game per sey. If we have some left over coders from the other projects I may convert it to the same old Ogre for graphicks, coding own game logick business. We're really not used to using premade engines, so yeah.

Any ideas are accepted and will be taken back to EkIchi for evaluation and whatnot. So feel free.

One character you will see in our Naruto game is Kazuki:

http://xkazukixofxlightx.deviantart.com/art/Kazukis-Naruto-Profile-81400542

He should be very interesting indeed. Perhaps he will spark a bit of ideas for you guys.

@ Your Hero - Awesome as heck! We at first were focused on ETTC (a full 3D MMORPG) but decided to clean the place up while working on smaller projects like Shinobi No Seishi. We're a HUGE gamedev team so we have to split ourselves up pretty much if we're working on small things. I'm the president/founder and I make most the ideas, help in the art and musick departments, but mostly I have a full time job making sure everyone stays on track doing what needs to be done. Being a leader is much harder than one would think. I wish I had the time to be more active in sections, but I do provide some of the work myself.

If you're interested in Star Ocean, I may need to befriend you and have your input on these things.

----

Examples of 3D works for the 3D MMORPG:

Hmm, depends on what you mean by 'fit in'. If it means be boring and uninteresting, then no, I'd rather be myself. Thanks.

Kazuki created a character on it because he likes Sonick, then he uses it as references to draw his character in comicks and stuff. What's the big deal? Because I don't get it.

Also, one of my favourite characters from our flash anime, INNIS! You guys saw him in there right?  :) One of his voice try out lines is "Dude OMG I can't believe it....a windmill...and a squirel...at the same place atthe same time!" He also likes dancing so people call him the disco king.

Sorry. It is a bad habit...

It was originally taught to me in school with certain words with 'k', but sometimes when I'm typing quickly I throw a K in anywhere I see a 'c' because of habit.

I also spell some things with a 'u', also because of the teacher: colour, etc.

interesting tidbit: some english teachers teach you to put 2 spaces after a full stop. im pretty sure that's incorrect right??
so many people do that!! it's weird. with gjw1uk I wanted to use 3 spaces but this A kept showing up because of the proxy or something

befriend-ation is essential!!
i liked that interior- cool start. send all star ocean stuff this way, i don't think i've even talked to anyone who's played it before.. i'm a freak. it's my favourite by a long run lol.

also. you spelt 'colour' right....

You by chance have MSN or YIM? I've made quite the number of friends this past week (over 10!) because of Star Ocean things.

You interested in game design at all? Voice acting? Writing stories? Anything? Just wondering. You could very well have a spot at EkIchi if you have a good knowlege of Star Ocean. But other than that, I'd still love to chat about Star Ocean-esque things or games in general.

Decus be careful posting your info like that on the forums, I and many others have gotten lots of spam on our instant messengers. Especially MSN. at least write it in the form [name] AT [hotmail] DOT [com] or something.

did gjw1uk use 2 spaces? also someone here did stuff like "this is a sentence . what is up my friends . im just hanging out ! ok see you later ." and i never understood that at all.

Thanks. I edited it.

I've never had that problem personally, but it's best to be safe than sorry.

hey i put two spaces after a period/full stop or whatever.  idk why i think i got it from someone else and assumed it was right; it's how a lot of college papers i have read were, though, so maybe it is mla or something like that.  they didn't teach it in our high school but yeah, I think in some college english courses (all of them maybe???) that is how they want you to write papers.  it is for mine, anyway!  too bad more gw people don't do it....

my first college english professor told us not to do it, but the rest never said anything

gr,  I tried to use 2 spaces after every punctuation mark even at the end of a paragraph.  but then I had to give that up too when that proxy died

i think it's supposed to be two spaces when you're writing out a letter and the convention is mostly dropped now that we are living in a Paperless world.

I should really bother with that IRC channel... I'll check it out myself, sometime.
