Scorcher Flamethrower -- This sucker will appear only once on a multiplayer map. It benefits from a longer range if you can hit the active reload perfectly and will glow red when it's ready to bring death to the masses.
Gorgon Burst Pistol -- Faster rate of fire than other pistols and shoots in short bursts.
Poison Grenade -- Spews a nasty purple haze that brings down everyone in its path.
Shield -- This sucker can be chucked into the ground beneath you and used as stationary cover. Of course, you can also carry it around and use it in conjunction with a pistol.
Mulcher(Chaingun) -- Shown in the Gears Of War 2 gameplay video at E3 2008, This version is portable, and so far holds 500 rounds. It also will overheat if used too long
Mortar Cannon -- Shown in an E3 interview with Cliff about Horde Mode, it's basically the same type of mortar cannons that they use today except you can blindfire it from your waist, aim and shoot it, or plant it on the ground and aim and shoot it across the level.
Lancer Assault Rifle -- You've heard this before, this armament from the original now has a tie-breaker for chainsaw kills. Mashing the B-button as fast as you can could lead to three outcomes. First, you win and slice through your opponent. Second, you lose and meet the same fate. Or third, there's an improbable tie and you both step back to go at it again (or whip out a shotgun and own their face). And no, you're not invulnerable for any part of the animation, also screenshots reveal the Lancer has a longer barrel, possibly hinting the fact the Lancer might be more accurate at longer ranges. Note: Chainsaw Duels in Gears of War 2
Hammerburst Assault Rifle -- This Locust rifle from the first Gears is back and can now fire with higher accuracy at longer ranges and does more damage. Players can also fire with a fan method (holding and releasing the right trigger) that will allow for a quicker rate of fire at the expense of accuracy.
Boltok Pistol -- This sucker is back from Gears 1 and now has a quicker rate of fire after an active reload.
Smoke Grenade -- These are now home to a concussion blast that will knock a shield out of someone's hand while disabling their sight and overall equilibrium. Any of the grenade types in the game can also be stuck on walls and will act as proximity mines.
Super Weapons -- The Hammer of Dawn is back of course, but there will also be other super weapons joining the roster such as the Mortar Cannon.
Changes to Single/Multiplayeryou got me at a loss here buddy
For Single-Player, the scope of the game has been raised. Instead of small skirmishes the player becomes apart of something bigger. For instance, Brumaks, a creature seen only briefly in the PC version of Gears of War 1, will make multiple appearances in the game.
you can fight it in pc i remember them making a big deal about letting you fight it in the pc version.
It comes in the mail tomorrow for me.. Can't fucken wait. I'll post my thoughts once I try it out. Oh yeah and theirs bots this time around!how are you getting it a day early
how are you getting it a day earlyFrom what I've gather Gears of War 2 isn't all that different. So, chances are if you don't like the first Gears the second won't appeal to you. Also, I'm so jealous Tau D:
and also i'm not spending my money on this immediately. unless this game has actually gotten GOOD then i won't bother for a while. last resort game. the original was not my favorite.
any news on the PC release?Cliffy B has been moaning about how the PC markets suck blah blah blah and how Gears 2 is only coming to 360 and even said it was exclusive to it... I'd give it a year, tops!
Well I like the first Gears of War a reasonable amount but . . . I don't know I'm just not interested in this at all. I can't really say why!well i meant something along these lines
it's just really unfortunate that this game actually has a team of writers.
The good thing I can say for it is at least it had some solid programing going into it as there were none of the random crashing/bugs that pops up in almost all new releases over the past 3 years...
This game is fucken awesome, better then the first I can tell you that. Graphics are the best Ive seen on a console thus far. Gameplay has bee fine tuned and the whole grabbing someone when their limping is probably one of the funniest and helpful things they added. The campaign truly is more bad ass and better as Cliffy B said it would be. The destructible environment doesn't really add much to the gameplay itself but is still a nice addition for the atmosphere of the game.
Yeah, I'm playing through GoW 1 right now, and I'm stuck at refilling the Junker. The first wave (just drones or whatever) goes down fine, but when they bring in the Boomer, it finds me next to instantly, and I die.
The one time, I managed to kill the Boomer, I was killed by the Kryll RIGHT UNDER A LIGHTPOST!!!!
Perhaps I should play online with a friend or something...
How does Gears 2 rank on the FRUSTRATION LEVEL? Because there was a fuckload too much DIE AND RETRY in Gears 1. I don't like that sort of gameplay. Repeating the same five or ten minutes of gameplay, ad nauseum, until you finally don't fuck up whatsoever turns me off real damn quick. It's how games USED to be I guess, but it's not how I like them now. Plus I am not good at vidgame.
What is this was called PEARS of War 2? Instead of Gears of War 2. Hahahaha! And it was about pears.or BEERS of War!!!!
or BEERS of War!!!!
The ending wasn't bad, but I might just think it didn't suck because I was thinking there was a good chance they were going to do a trilogy. Everyone seems to be doing it. and I personally don't have a problem with trilogies.
yeah it was sort of annoying that basically NO QUESTIONS AT ALL were answered, and if anything, even more were added. The ending was incredibly abrupt, the "last boss" was neat to look at but definitely not intended to challenge you in the traditional sense of a final boss. Skorge was clearly the CLIMATIC BATTLE of the game.
