STOP POSTING YOUR NOMINATIONS, I'M NOT GOING TO FILTER ALL THE WHITE NOISE. YOU HAVE TO PM ME IF YOU WANT IT IN THE POLL.

It's time for the GW Awards! A worthless series of polls for worthless people to win worthless awards! TRADITION!

For the first time, I've had the premiums nominate some people preemptively so you guys don't have to renominate them and can rack your brains and remember some awesome new member from January or something. Also should these be posted on the blog or just here and results on the blog? We've also got some new categories, check em out.

ALSO: EVERY YEAR, without fail, the worst member contestants post XD HEH VOTE FOR ME, so I'm going to threaten you that if you win Worst Member and you pulled this shit I will find some mod, slip them money, and have you permabanned. This is the most annoying fucking thing and every year it happens.

Also if you don't want to win and think someone is better than you, it's in your interest to write a good reason to vote for someone else instead of you, rather than just saying NO NOT ME. GW doesn't reward modesty, but you can convince them to give it to someone else.

Best Member- Every GW member is valid for this, including admins, mods, whatever. It's for the overall best GW member. Btw unlike other years I'm gonna put this one last because just like the Oscars you gotta tune in for the big stuff. Also keep in mind; it's best to consider this more for this year than BEST OF ALL TIME. Do this for all categories except for one which will be mentioned as such.

Worst Member- For the first time, we're having only ONE worst category. That means stupidest, angriest, jerkiest, thinks is funny but is not, racist, sexist, homophobic, it's all under this. I expect it'll be a bit more tooth and nail. Once again, all members are eligible, including...badmins...

Best Site Staff- GOOD GRAVY WE HAVE A STAFF? Yes we do. Who do you think was the best staffer this year? NOTE: THIS DOES NOT MEAN WHO WROTE THE BEST ARTICLE. That award is later. So if you are just thrilled over Mog's one article, maybe wait on that. Only staff members and staff editors can win.

Best Forum Staff- This is for your mods, admins, and gmods. I think that's all of them. So no nominating Render or Hundley even though they mod forums.

Best New Member- Unlike other years, our definition of new member is someone who just recently started posting, NOT their join date. ASE made a list of all the members who would qualify BUT this list was made ending at OCTOBER 14TH, so there are a few missing. Every year we forget someone though, so heres that list:

Best Writer- THIS IS NOT BEST POST WRITER. THIS IS NOT BEST STAFF WRITER. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT LITERATURE. That means poems and plays and essays and novels and short stories. Not staff articles or topics. Hundley somehow gets nominated every year for this but I'm one of maybe six people that's read anything he's written this year so I think people confuse the ability with who has actually posted works. If you want to vote Hundley or a topic creator do it in another category please.

Best Game Designer- This is where our G&Ders shine. Who made the best game/s this year? Also, teams can be nominated but so can individuals so yes that means GZ could be nominated against TOG despite being part of it. Once again try to stick to this year, not just MY BFF.

Prettiest Girl of All Time: Honorary Award- Many GWs have left us, not just this year but in the past. The PGOAT is for a member who we still miss here in 2008 (they can have left at any time though). It's basically that award they give to the dead people on the Oscars. Who is the PGOAT for 2008? Note: anyone who posted recently cannot be the PGOAT. If they are on IRC or AIM, it doesn't matter, this is a forum award.

tog specifically means me, drule, bort, gz, and you. it refers to the three games we've released, anne frank (no idea why anyone would nominate this), barkley, which was me, gz, drule, and bort, and wu-tang, which was more konix, gz, and drule than me and bort. i think tog is a pretty valid nomination because it refers specifically to a lot of people working together on different projects. i shouldn't get any nominations because i wasn't the sole designer for any of these games, it was a lot of people!

Also I am a bit shocked that Miles Prower guy or whatever his name is has not been nominated yet by anybody for the game design category.

There needs to be a true test of merit for the GW awards. Too often do we elect members who have elevated themselves in the limelight, and too often do we see undeserving people win awards worth less than their posting career on these fine forums. I believe it's time for change. The best and worst that Gaming World has to offer should no longer be determined by the people, but rather a battery of heroic tests catered to measuring nominees in each and every category.

Also introduce a cash pot. As a bonus for presenting this idea, I'd like to require I receive 10% of the total award winnings for the next three years to support my alcohol addiction.

When I saw this earlier in the day I was filled with some mixed emotions...I mean...originally I wasn't going to say anything because it could be the final nail in the coffin that puts me down for the remaining of the year (and a lock for some of these awards) but I felt I said to give my two cents into this.

This is a pretty big disappointment...I mean, I can't believe after almost half of year of pretty good (but not TOTALLY solid) behavior...I still fall into this category. I post less now then I ever have, don't plug anymore, don't post BS menu screenies, don't make topics...in other words I'm doing everything by the book now...and things have turned around a lot, I'm still hated but I wouldn't consider WORST MEMBER category wise.

These are the reasons why I hate this place, and I much rather spend my time away from here working hard on my projects...but oh wait!!! THEY DON'T EXIST!!! WOWWWWWW!!! I SHOULD GIVE UP NOW!?  ​

You know...some days I just don't get this place, and other days I think you guys shouldn't even GET anything game related from me...it should just be private or something...but this is ridiculous! It's never going to change! No matter how less I post or how many games I release...same old crap!

The avatar one is understandable...I mean, they are pretty shitty...heh, but how was that anime girl considered one? Mats...is well, a yes...he's pretty fugly.  ​

But...Worst Member makes me feel like shit...it's almost like this: I've worked so hard these past months to finally get down to work and stop spending my time here to release something for everyone...because they deserve it, only to be slapped on a sticker that says: YOU SUCK AND FAIL AT EVERYTHING!!! WORST MEMBER!!!

I don't deserve this award, I'm not going to give a replacement for my name because that would be rude...and I'm not going to nominate someone...I think this is total bullshit how some people still don't think my project is real, I'm real, and all I do is post stupid things...or the fact that my game isn't done yet might of been the reason why? Which is just silly...

However...if I DO win this award (which looks to be a lock now) then fine...but the next year when things turn around and I win something meaningful, then I'm shoving this WORST MEMBER AWARD up some mod's ass.

I know it's all fair & fun...and please don't take it for the wrong reasons...I just think this is pretty stupid, you should have it all good awards...it's like the bad misao ones, it just makes you feel pretty bad.

I think you guys should drop this award, but in the end...you'll probably drop me out for a couple of weeks due to speaking out...

I don't deserve this award, I'm not going to give a replacement for my name because that would be rude...and I'm not going to nominate someone...I think this is total bullshit how some people still don't think my project is real, I'm real, and all I do is post stupid things...or the fact that my game isn't done yet might of been the reason why? Which is just silly...

However...if I DO win this award (which looks to be a lock now) then fine...but the next year when things turn around and I win something meaningful, then I'm shoving this WORST MEMBER AWARD up some mod's ass.

I know it's all fair & fun...and please don't take it for the wrong reasons...I just think this is pretty stupid, you should have it all good awards...it's like the bad misao ones, it just makes you feel pretty bad.

I think you guys should drop this award, but in the end...you'll probably drop me out for a couple of weeks due to speaking out...

I feel bad because we purposefully removed almost all the negative awards for the simple fact that it IS mean (sorry lars, no "Member Who Thinks He's Funny But Isn't") but at the same time I think people like achiro need to know they are really really bad. and I'm not going to turn down someone's nomination of s4d.

Also I love cactus's games I think he should win every GAME DESIGN award honestly, but hes not really an active member here, winning GW AWARDS wouldnt mean much to him and be awkward to us and a pretty funny statement to how unproductive we are as a community that we give our community awards to people from outside! But on the other hand it might help make gw less of a community-centric place and more of a OPEN ARMS TO THE GENERAL GAME DEV COMMUNITY place.

the reason you weren't included on the list that I compiled was because my specific methodology was to go to the Members List and look through every single member who joined in Nov. 2007 or later. You joined in February of 2007. Of course, Steel is running the show and at the time I had no idea the rule was going to be STARTED POSTING RECENTLY

also, i probably would have said FUCK IT because that would have meant looking through the entire members list because there is no way or sorting the list by "recent activity" or something. I had to pick something qualitative.

M.O.G is just so egotistical and shit, he was terrible and spent prettymuch the past year solely posting "heh GW is gay, join RMN" and then acting the goat when we all called him up on it. The fact that when he knew he couldn't win an arguement he was all like "Heh, thanks for taking part in my social experiment guys" and then at the same time on rmn about fights and shit to impress people. Rather than listening to what people would say, he would ignore posts, and instead zoom in on one line or sentance and bring it totally out of context to try and seem like he knows what he's talking about (he never did). Also he like quit staff in protest over his rmn sig as if it was some massive loss, when all he really did was that "bridging da gap" article which ended up causing more problems and did nothing but show he doesn't have much of a grip on why GW is so splintered in places.
Basically A++ Arrogant gimp, and worst member of 08 by far.

I mean Bloody Asura was a shit (I'm gunna... sue GW over completely unrelated spam...) but that was short lived and we've had to put up with M.O.G for much longer. We have some bad posters and all, and some well stupid guys, but M.O.G just has a terrible personality.
