Just out of curiousity, what do you think are the best philosophical movies of all time?
Mine are (yes, kick me, they're mainstream):
- The Matrix
- Waking Life
- Fight Club
- Monty Python's Anything (just cause they talk a lot about philosophy)
- American Beauty
Also, if you wanna talk about any of the philosophy in the movies...

finalfantasy 9

Last Life in the Universe
O Lucky Man!
Dark City
Pi
Blade Runner
Being John Malkovich
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Stalker
Solaris (original)
A Clockwork Orange
4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days
Adaption
Memento
Come and See
I dunno, I had to look up all these different lists and shit since I've seen so much crap I can't remember anything.
I also forgot what a philosophical movie is.

Vanilla Sky??

one of my favorites is The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman, its an oldie its really well done.
Garden State addresses a few ethical issues but generally its pretty light. The Truman Show is another pretty good one, but I haven't seen it in ages.
Memento isn't explicitly philosophical but it has a lot of stuff about the existence of reality etc in it, and its just a damn good movie. Rashomon also deals with questioning reality pretty well.
