Hey everyone I just thought I'd briefly bring this up.
As you all may know, the previous topic is long dead, even despite my small efforts to keep it alive...

Now, after a few handshakes and leisurely drinks the responsibility of the the old, run-down GW Shoppè has been passed on to yours truly.
So, with nothing more to add to that I think it's time to get the ball rolling.

What I aim to achieve
As far as things go everything is going to be laid out exactly as it was before, shirts are simple to buy, delivery is quick and reliable and most of all the profits from each sale go into Gaming World's piggy bank to pay the bills.

However there weren't any new shirts being made, looking through the shop now I have seen where some of the complications have hit but I plan to rectify them.
Therefore, without needing to say anything further I'll give you all a look at what we currently have.








The first thing I want to do is start up a suggestions topic again, this will be it.
I want to know the following:
What would you have on a GW shirt that you would actually wear?
Preferred Shirt Colour to match the design?

Here are a few that we had in the previous topic that at least more than one of us would wear:

As far as designing the shirts go, any of you are welcome to volunteer as a designer, otherwise I'll either take it on by myself or set up a little competition with a small prize of like... 3 shirts or something, either way that part comes later on, for now though I want to hear your suggestions.
Do you want to go for new shirts and/or should we take a crack at some of the older suggestions?

On New Designs:  Certainly, the designs I suggested up in the poll are not the only ones possible, just ones that come to mind right now.  I certainly will take other designs (for instance, if someone from PerfectRun or other guys want to put up a shirt based on one of their games, etc) and will work with the design submitter on getting these proofed and ready to press. 

Here's the thing, though.  Spreadshirt has absurdly stringent vector design criteria.  I have not yet submitted a design that has passed their vector criteria, even though it seems like 9 times out of 10 I make a design that seems to fit the design criteria and they reject it anyway.  Here is the most frequent rejection I get:

So, here's what I'll do.  We can propose designs in this topic, and get them proofed.  The first person to crack the "vector code" and give me a vector design they will accept will get a sample shirt of their design, AND another T-Shirt of their choosing, both shipping paid.  Please submit your design in either .ai (Adobe Illustrator Format) or .eps (encapsulated postscript format).  Anyone that submits a design that goes on a shirt, regardless of whether or not it is accepted as a vector, automatically gets a sample T-Shirt for testing purposes and as a reward for submitting the design.  I want you to know before you consider this that you will get no monetary return for your designs.  I don't see any profit from this operation at all!  This is something that you can do to help out GW and maybe get a little recognition for your art in the process.  This is the chance for Graphic Art people to step up to the plate and get a design out there!

Just as a note, the parts bolded in that last paragraph are still valid so get cracking!

I would buy one if the design were to feature Steel roaring at the head of an angry mob, chasing a shadowed individual out of a battered town on a desert road bordered by a dusty wooden sign with "Gaming World" in spaghetti western letters.

I recall that we pretty much shot down the EROTIC FOR CHILD shirt since that would probably have some negative consequences of being worn out in the public world (feel free to disprove this statement since I am only recalling from what I remember the general attitude at the time of the disclosure being).   Anyways though, for those who haven't bought anything from the shoppe yet, you should consider it.  The quality on the shirts are pretty excellent, and they're super duper fun to have I suppose.

I'm curious as to how many GW t-shirts have been sold so far (not including the ones people got for free in contests/for submitting designs). I remember a couple people have posted pics of their shirts or mentioned on the forums that they've purchased one, but can we get a count?

As for designs, it's always good to have a shirt that doesn't scream INTERNET NERD. The backflippe shirt is a great example since the design looks cool (it's my fav t-shirt) and there's no indication that it's some sort of E-FAD shit. Current mood pinecone has that livejournal sound to it, but it has a quirkiness about it that's not 4chan.

I mean, I know we have members, especially G&D'ers (f...fuckem) who actually LOVE nerd shirts (carius......) and would wear "This user has been warned for this post" every day, but personally I think our best sellers will be shirts that you can wear without sensing that /b-tards or goons or whatever theyre called are reading them... thinking "hell yeah... he's one of us"


I would like some sort of semper games/gmj/ barkley t-shirt, but i don't want it to be dumb! Like, medieve's titlescreen or some barkley sprites on a shirt would be dumb imo, so something subtle would be cool

i was thinking, for a "semper games" shirt, we could take one of those official navy/army/marines emblems that say "semper fi" and (someone would have to draw the design from scratch, of course) have them re-worked to say "semper games" and a few other gmj-related changes

there's already a pretty cool design for barkley (more...must eat designs) and i'm going to hand it over as soon as i get time.  i was originally supposed to pass it on to bart but i never did that because i couldn't connect my computer to the internet for the month i was handing over the shop (bad move)

Just as a matter of interest, say I wanted to draw the design I mentioned before and scan it in would I be limited by the number of colours allowed or anything else like that? Also what is the maximum area you can have on a given shirt. Shirts that have designs that reach beyond an emblem on the chestplate are a lot nicer and less samey than a shirt with a design constrained to a small space (if you get what I mean).

the maximum area you can have is pretty much a square extending in width to each nipple and in height from below the clavicle to the end of the ribcage.  there's an option to put stuff on the back or on the arm (iirc) but nothing like what you're suggesting.  i think it's a good idea and if it requires a move in shop, then we need to weigh how much effort it would take versus how many people are willing to actually make that kind of design.

Edit: Seriously though, blank-tshirts are so cheap and printed ones are like £20 to go to the mall and get one printed here. I am gonna look into making some of my own and get back to you guys on this one.

okay maybe being negative about forum p.r.i.d.e. is a little mean but i don't wear t-shirts with slogans and shit on them as a general rule anyway so i don't think any gw shirt not matter how funny the line orignally was (and pinecone and q's were pretty cool) cos it always comes off as lazy and trite to me, plus the phrase itself totally loses all meaning when it's branded on your chest for 12 hours straight. i don't like it.

yeah, if you really want to sell t shirts i suggest you using 1 flat design like the foget, but with something not totally retarded. idk, you got to figure, a lot of people who would want to buy these probably want to go outside and not worry about how dumb they look.

honestly, i'd never consider any of these shirts, because they're too expensive(i understand, support gw and all tho) and the t shirt choice is poor. but yeah dude, i agree with ase, less dumb phrases like "i kissed an internet dad" and more designs from like, gw artists or something. the backflippe is okay, because i can actually picture skater people wearing them.

btw the problem that maybe some people mentioned but maybe not is that normal non-internet people cannot differentiate between internet people.  sa, gw, 4chan, and any other type of internet humor is basically just lumped together as IDK ITS ABOUT THE INTERNET.  so wearing a shirt with a statement about kissing internet dads is essentially the same thing as wearing an ALL YOUR BASE t-shirt, because most people you meet in your daily life cannot distinguish between these two types of internet humor.  no one here would be caught dead wearing an all your base shirt (i hope) sooooo yeah.  it just looks like you are making <random gay internet reference> and that is awful.

i think all shirts with LOL HILARIOUS PHRASES on them are really, really, really dumb tbh

Hmm, I've got a lot of responses to cover, I wasn't asleep that long...

ase:
Sadly from what the shop overview shows we've had about 13 orders TOTAL, this could be wrong mind you but for each order the average expense ranged from about $25 to $40.

Generallly speaking, I wear the Pinecone shirt and Qs shirt in public a LOT, people find it funny, clever because it's different, etc.
I'm not just talking about your regular nerds either, people stop to read it and then scratch their head in confusion followed by a "I don't really get it but it's making me laugh".

Also I agree, I would lean more toward a semper games shirt because it's not as 'inside' as some of the others (despite the fact that it still is), it's one of those shirts similar to Pinecone or Qs that would make people stop and scratch their head for a second because it doesn't make sense, but still like it anyway.


Steel:
You can have a semper games shirt without it being like we're selling out.


Rowain:
There aren't any Polos unfortunately, they are mostly just summer-wear like what you already see, or there's also hoodies, shoulder bags, tank tops, mouse pads, etc. available.
We don't necessarily have to sell just shirts, I'm willing to expand onto other items as well...


Farmrush:
Keep SHUT UP AND JAM, but to avoid it being a barkley reference and to make the shirt actually funny it could have a picture of someone trying to force paper into a printer while it's beeping or something, obviously that's just some ALPHA LIMITED IDEA but it made me chuckle.


Dulcinea:
Oh man I'm not going to get into that story, that phrase is a part of Australian History almost, movie made about it and everything (I'm not kidding).

Actually, I wouldn't wear a shirt that references GW at all. Ever. I'd rather not have my friends see some of the crap I post. :D
That said though, some of these designs are pretty cool so I might just buy one. Hm. You think there'll be a certain...shirt + premium membership dealio in the future...? *hint hint*

that idea is actually dumb enough to be considered funny, the problem with it though is that it would only be able to cover the chest area, so it can basically only be just a bit bigger thant he design of the Foget or Backflippe shirt.


EDIT: Just looked over the list again, we CAN do polo shirts, the damn picture was so black it just looked like one of the other shirts...

Honestly, I'd normally be ALL OVER this shit and buying all the shirts but the pricing is a little steep. I know it's not your fault or pasty's fault or anything, but the US -> Aus dollar at the moment is ridiculous, and what stopped me before when it was really good was the shipping. Maybe I'll just suck it up and buy a couple in future with my next paycheck!

Hey for the pixel art based designs, just make sure you scale them by using "nearest neighbour" scaling and it should look good. Nearest neighbour pretty much makes it still look like pixel art instead of blurring the pixels into fuzzy circles. Its called that in photoshop, in other programs its prolly something like turning "SMOOTHING" or "INTERPOLATION" off in the scaling options.

Heh actually I went over it with the smudge tool to make it look as non-pixellated as possible, haha...

You cant make pixel art magically look like a hi res image unless you just redraw it

either someone redraw it, or use the actual pixel image enlarged for it to look like exxagerated pixels or it will look like dong :(
