my guiltiest pleasure
is probably 90s R&B, its cheesy as hell and i know that its often not very good musically but at the same time a part of me really enjoys it so fuck everyone, this is one of my favorite songs ever:
that is my jam!!!! i know every word off by heart and i always request the dj plays it when i go out haha IM KINDA BUZZED AND ITS ALL BECAUSE....... THIS IS HOW WE DO IT!
or this one:
what a classic, i have 5 ginuwine cds on my computer
fuck you i like it
I'm pretty sure I am alone on this one? I even like some new R&B but nothing beats the classics imo
-
I'm one of those guys who tries not to believe in guilty pleasures and believes you can justify music in some way beyond "its shit...but...I still like it!"
you can do this afura...summon your might.
-
heheh I used to have guilty pleasures but now they are just regular pleasures
except I guess maybe I still enjoy some power metal but I think that is mostly nostalgia heh
-
like drum and bass/breakcore and stuff
although I like it in the context of completely over the top shit/not like death doom death stuff therefore I really can't stand 99% of the stuff
-
I don't think he needs to justify it. there might be a precise reason why he likes it but I don't know how well that would justify anything.
I really don't like this shit but I guess that's assumed for pretty much everyone here. I know it gets a lot worse than this tho. ugh you know that SUICIDAL song? you girl you'll have me suicidal suicidal suicidal. I had to hear this every day at work I think it's one of the worst songs ever
-
no I mean the line between guilty pleasure and normal pleasure is that you'd feel some sense of social guilt for listening to one, and I think if it's decent enough music you can probably come up with a justification to nullify that guilt!
the other option is to pretend HEH I FEEL NO SHAME but come on we all do.
-
Are we supposed to share our "guiltiest pleasures" or just talk about yours?
this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1bTqfbXnZs) is mine, sort of.
-
I always use the "my guilty pleasure is Lenny Kravitz because he uses leather pants" joke
-
I've got a couple Avril Lavigne songs on my mp3 player... I'm a little ashamed of that.
-
Since all I listen to is heavy metal, I guess Our Lady Peace. Anything from the 90's, though.
-
how does one justify death cab for cutie? because fuck :(
-
This is a song I like for a number of reasons, firstly its funny in particular because of the way the hook is phrased "im fuckin you tonight", most R&B songs shy away from forcefully telling the girl that you are fucking them no matter what, the justification for this is because of all the gifts and running around in circles the man has done. when r kelly tells you he's fucking you tonight you can know without a doubt that he is going to (he's a creep).
Plus notorious big had the best flow ever and i haven't ever heard a song by him thats unlistenable, even that pepsi commercial is dope, everything he made was fire as apposed to most rappers who have like 2 hot songs per cd.
Some say the x, make ya sex, spec-tacular, make me lick ya from ya neck to ya back and yah shiverin, tongue deliverin
impeccable flow

gibbard has this dumb shitty lyrics heartfelt dork thing going on so it's like maaaaan I know you're a big ole gay but there's probably a degree of honesty to your shit anyways.
-
yea... i bought a james blunt album... i'm so sorry.
-
my guiltiest pleasure is joanna newsom who I have a love hate thing with. there's really not a great justification for that voice but then I'm not sure I'd care for it in another voice, unlike say Regina Spektor or one of the GOOFY BICHS who became popular that year.
-
I like Regina Spektor a lot.

older death cab (photo booth era, transatlanticism to an extent) is still pretty good musically and not the overproduced shit they're pushing out these days
and joanna newsom owns, you either hate her voice completely or like it because its quirky or whatever. and it really does fit somehow. regina spektor i hate though (except her recent appearance on a ben folds song which was good but maybe thats just because i love ben folds)
-
im with dom i like joanna newsom too it really comes down to if you can dig her voice or not i suppose
and i never considered that a guilty pleasure @_@

wow that's where the sample in Husikam Rave Dojo comes from
I thought it'd be something more obscure
-
well you have to remember my definition of guilty pleasure includes how well you can defend it, and thats...thats a pretty indefensible voice...
edit: without relying on shit like something jamicus said, "her voice sounds like its out of this world", which while true is pretty shaky.

man I was checking out old ANIME OSTS I liked and it's actually a lot of stuff I can still tolerate. I thought the Hellsing soundtrack would be horrible emo goth stuff but it's like weird as fuck trip-hop sort of Portishead stuff before I knew about Portishead. It's seriously like the most innovative thing I've ever heard (kind of an epic waste of effort on anime lol)
ignore the first 15 seconds that's not the song ok
seriously best song ever
Edit: Actually the first 15 seconds is a good idea of what I remembered the Hellsing OST being in my mind
Edit: This is a close second

Edit: nvm this is third place http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOAuaHsRw6U&feature=related
and of course the opening song is epic too
Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6HXQD9Sric&feature=related this one is kind of corny but I still like how it changes completely like 4 or 5 times
-
another ipod song :(
i'm lame.
-
hey its me, joanna newsom. im an 8 year old boy
-
hey whats this lying by the side of the road. oh its a harp. guess its mine now
-
she's pretty fucking talented on that harp.
the voice is not justifiable but dont diss dat harp!
-
I was brainwashed into enjoying this by my college dorm neighbour, who was a chick that would play it constantly.
also hellsing ost
edit: also kylie minogue :fogetcool:
-
the correct answer for everyone is through the fire and the flames, topic over
-
man, i love 80s shit. madonna, cindi lauper, wham!, all that crap. i have a "steve winwood" radio on pandora thats pretty awesome (listenin to it now - Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now ;))
also i have a george michael radio. that one i feel guilty for. the 80s crap well, i grew up on it, my mom listened to it so i can justify it a little. george michael i have no idea. he rules though.
-
i can sorta justify say anything because they have some fairly varied material and max is pretty talented, so
my guilty pleasure is senses fail ::
-
uptown girl!
-
do oldies like that even count as guilty pleasures?
-
I really enjoy quite a lot of slipknot songs.
Pulse...maggots.
-
Pink Floyd's the wall
I know, I know *blushes*
-
I guess mine is bands that can barely play recording on the cheapest recording equipment they can find that still write decent songs.
I listen to a lot of this music, even though I know as musicians they are shit.
-
i can top a lot....aqua... and i have an appreciation for hanson. yeah. mock me. i know. but fuck those kids have been playing in a band since the drummer was barely potty trained. and yeah taylor looked like a chick without tits. but the long hair though, while funny in the late 90s when every dude had short hair they put gel in, these kids were trying to look like 80s rockers. and thats tough. think about it.
