Title: [PSP] Video Output Cable question
Post by: Aten on January 04, 2009, 03:25:00 am
Hi guys.

I just got a component video output cable for my PSP Slim. I tried it in the TV in the lounge, and it was wonderful, the colors and sounds and everything works, and games are awesome. Ok, now, I tried the same thing in the TV in my room, (Samsung 29" Model: 29M16)

I connected the component and the audio cables, but when I switch the output on the PSP, nothing comes on. Heres the thing, if I switch the mode to "Interlace", the XMB comes on, and the sounds too, but if I try to start a game, it says "Must be on progressive", so when I set it to progressive, the display shrinks and gets divided into 2 halves both display the same thing.

help?

The other tv requires the properties of the first tv but I can't remember what properties. Check the Sony Website.

Obvious question, Is it an HDTV and is it progressive?
From your post you make it sound like it's progressive, but I also believe it needs to be HDTV.

If your PSP is hacked you might want to look into a plugin called FuSa, which allows PSP slims to play on any cable on any TV, even PSP games in interlaced mode.

Hmm.... I don't really know if it's progressive or not. Anyw ay to check? I tried googling the model no, but the specs didn't say anything about progressive or not.

I'll take a look at FuSa, my psp is hacked.

Looks like you have an SDTV. 480i and 4:3 to boot.
Your only option is to use FuSa, unless you feel like getting a new TV.
Sorry that I can't help more with FuSa, I don't have it or a video cable for my PSP.

Damn, I tried FuSa, the site says needs FW 3.80 or higher, but damn, anything above 3.71 is really shitty and pathetic. Man, looks like the lounge TV is my only option >_>

Thanks a lot for clearing this up tho man!

What's wrong with 5.00 M33-4?
Either way, sorry it didn't work out.
If I recall correctly though, there is an older version of FuSa that works on firmwares below 3.80.
Don't quote me on that though..

Psp Slims have custom firmware now? When did this happen? Seriously... even though I have a pimped out fatty I will buy a slim for TVout alone right now.

PSP Slims were hacked the first week they came out I believe.
But the tricky thing now is that there are unhackable slims which don't work with Pandora.
The only surefire way you'll get a hackable slim is by buying it secondhand, preferably prehacked.

yeah KBJGXLM, where the heck have you been all this time? I hacked mine by opening and hacking my battery. The rest was cake. And yeah, the new slims are unhackable, and the psp brite is waaaaaaay unhackable (for now).

Cirno, I heard that FW5.00 has built in support for interlace. I have no choice, but to upgrade my system. Lets see how this goes.

To be honest... I've just been using my fatty as is. I haven't checked for firmware updates since they fixed the memory issue with the psx emulator (well over a year, probably two).

Ok, I tried it, it was pathetic. While i managed to get the game on the TV, it was utterly too slow to play. It was like playing the game in slow motion. Not to mention it frequently garbled the colors and froze the psp.

I guess it just doesn't work plain and simple.

It had the slow downs with FuSa as well?
Either way, sorry to hear, that sucks.
Well I guess you might as well go  back to 3.71, at least we tried.

PS

The thing with 3.71 is that it plays PS1 games pretty flawlessly, and directly. With other firmwares, it either doesn't load at all, or doesn't work well or requires an asston of other stuff just to make it startup.

I see.
I don't play very many PS1 games. The only one had trouble with was MGS. It works on 5.00 M33 with some graphical glitches I Guess, but all the other PS1 games I play work fine.
But we all use our PSPs for different things, so I say just stick with 3.71 M33 then.
Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.
